Igreis waits for his turn and moves to make his way towards the swinging blades, taking a calming breath before he rushes ahead. While doing his best to dodge the blades he will aim to go for the most direct route through.
Gan, as you leap for the central pole, one of the weighted sacks swipes across your path and knocks you off the course and into the crowd.
Baetrix swings below the gangway and avoids the mechanisms driving the blades, but just before swinging back up a pole she was gripping begins spinning and she tumbles to the ground.
Igreis, your burst of speed and precise timing allow you to dash through the blades, only having to weave slightly to avoid them
Onizos, the crowd cheers as you put on a show navigating the course successfully.
Yabo, your leap isn't quite high enough to clear the blades. One of the diagonal blades clangs against your shell and knocks you to the ground, but fortunately retracting into your shell prevents it from cutting you.
Igreis and Onizos, as you set down from the far end of the course, the aarakocra swoops over. "Congratulations! Few pass my gauntlet. In doing so, you have earned the Medal of the Cat." He drapes a medal in the shape of a paw print over your heads and tells you what they do:
Medal of the Cat Before rolling a Dexterity Saving Throw, you can use your reaction to touch this medal and automatically succeed on the save. Once this property has been used, it can’t be used again, and the medal becomes nonmagical.
Gan eyes Maggie the Ogre with suspicion. He's never completely trusted really big people. They tend to step on little people without worrying about it too much. He does approach Dermot the Goblin.
"They always so free with the medals and what not around here?" Gan asks Dermot. "They're going to want something in return, ain't they?"
Igreis nods as he is given the medal, carefully slipping it underneath his armor to keep it safe. "I thank you for the praise. This was a more extreme version of some of the drills I have undergone in the past. I thought that I was going to trip on the last part."
Gan, please roll an Insight check as you eye Maggie.
Dermot responds, "They love a good competition here in Jigow, it helps ease tensions between the wide range of people here. Not everyone is as talented as your group. Plenty lose their entry fees without a medal, also you might notice that some of these challenges benefit the locals as much as the contestants"
"We are going to go try arm wrestling next. I believe our team is on track to be chosen for the finale. Could you do me a favor?" Maggie asks, "If you happen across my friend Ayo, would you tell her we're wondering what the plan is after the closing ceremony? She has dark hair and blue skin. She said she was going to compete in a contest by the river—I think."
There are several competitions still running, including the two Maggie just mentioned. You've also heard about a riddle based one and something to do with Horizonback herding. Alternatively, you can explore Jigow or join the crowd that is starting to gather in the Jumble for the closing ceremony.

Gan looks carefully at Maggie. You learn to watch people a lot when you grow up in dirty alleys and muddy gutters.
Insight on Maggie: 18
Gan looks over at Yabo at the mention of arm wrestling and shows him the motion, assuming otherwise that the big tortle will think he literally has to wrestle an animated arm.
Baetrix dusts herself off, a little chagrined by her tumble. She does pat Igreis on the shoulder though and says: "Well run, sir. Would you wait a moment as I attempt this again?"
If she is able to, she will run the gauntlet again for another 3sp.
Baetrix, the aarocokra is happy to take more of your money, "As long as your friend doesn't go again" staring at Yabo.
Overconfidence from having passed it already nearly cost you the first section as a paddle hits your shoulder from behind, but you maintain your balance, reset, and complete the rest of the course confidently. "Well done! You learn quick"He says as he grants you your own Medal of the Cat
Gan, as you observe Maggie, you notice that her bright blue eyes are attentive and dart around taking everything in, betraying an intelligence that may not be apparent if one focused solely on her massive build. Her soft voice and way she moves around Dermot suggests she's sensitive and cares about those smaller than her.
When Yabo asks about the river, "A swimming contest I think, in the Ifolon"
Gan's not sure if the fact he's pretty sure Maggie cares about Dermot makes him feel any better or not. He's always been a bit suspicious of anyone 'caring' for him. Look at what happened last time? Now he's wrapped up in the Church of Kord and lightning comes out of his hands when he gets excited. Actually that's not too bad.
"Alright, hows about we go watch Yabo arm wrestle, then show how smart we is, Oni," Gan says then he looks over at Yabo. "And then we go get wet. Maybe it's a cannonball contest. You'd be a lock for that."
He looks over at Igreis and Baetrix.
"How's about it Iggy? You any good at puzzles or swimming? And you Trix?"
Igreis nods to Beatrix and watches as she goes through the gauntlet, wincing as she almost tumbles in the first section. As she finishes thought the drow claps her on the shoulder. "One never truly fails if they get back up and move forward. That was a fine showing."
At the nickname giveen by Gan he winces once more but forces a small smile. "Strength based competition is not my strong suit. I focus more on being agile so I am afraid that swimming in a competitive fashion may not be in my skill set. If would not hurt to try I suppose."
"I believe only one contestant from each team can participate in the swimming challenge, if that helps you make your decision" Dermot chimes in, "Arm wrestling you can each compete individually if you want. For riddles you play as a group"

The Ogre and the Goblin you overheard earlier approach after you all have made your attempts and regrouped
"That was quite the display." the Ogre says, "I'm Maggie Keeneyes, this is Dermot Wurder"
She looks over to Igreis and Onizos and says, "The grace and agility with which you conquered the gauntlet was... inspiring"
Onizos strikes a pose that might be interpreted as a physical gratitude and says,
“I am Onizos, and Inspiring others is my lifeblood. It is an honor to make your acquaintance. Are you also competing in these games?”
Gan eyes Maggie the Ogre with suspicion. He's never completely trusted really big people. They tend to step on little people without worrying about it too much. He does approach Dermot the Goblin.

"That was fun!", Yabo exclaims to the aarakocra.

"You sure you want to go against 'e, Gan? No offense, but... not sure ar' wrestling's gonna 'e your 'est showing."
((He learned years ago that you're wrestling arm to arm with someone else, not just loose arms roaming about looking to grab folks.))
"That sounds fun though... what's the one at the river?"

Yabo had his fun, if Trix is permitted to run again, he'll just cheer her on from the sidelines.

Onizos wants to check out the riddles. Not that he’s particularly intelligent, but he does like words in general.
"Huhh. Not a fast swi' 'er, 'ut I can dive good. Is it a race or so'ething?"

She gives a gentle smile to Maggie. "If we see your friend, we will relay your words."
Then, to the group: "I would fancy a riddle or a swim. Herding animals may be amusing too."
