Is there still interest in this? I'd be more than happy to either join a campaign or help work on crunch/flavor to flesh the idea out more. Not sure how I feel about gender restricted spell lists (especially as that doesn't seem to be canon to the Harry Potter universe), but I do like the idea of alignment based spells.
Update: I will be seeking 6 young Wizards and Witches to play in a Homebrew Harry Potter World set during the missing years of the Dark One. Here is the crunch so far..
All spells from the classes will be open. The wizard list is open to all. Druid List is open to males and the cleric List is open to females. The evil characters will have access to the Warlock list and the patron features at the fourth level. Good characters will have access to the Paladin list and some class options at the fourth level. I will be using the multi class spell slots from page 165. The only race allowed is human for obvious reasons and you will need to roll for your attributes. Your skills will be granted by your house (more on this later). What you can expect from me. I will post about once a day weekends will be discussed by group. I will make sure everyone has fun and I will rule based on the story/fun factor. If I discover that some of the homebrew rules are not working we will find a way forwarded. I am recently retired from the Army and now have the time to do this appropriately. My other game suffered some while I transitioned from the Army and I am back at it now. What I want from you
To have fun and use your imagination.
How to submit a Character You do it here! Please don't PM me unless there is something you need to know such as how to roll a etc. Post your PC's here along with your backstory. You must come up a background that fits Harry Potter.
Hi again, im really glad the idea didnt die out! Got an important question for the character creation, are we choosing our house beforehand or do we tell you what house and then get sorted into it while starting the campaign?
Missed the one line that said post here. My bad...
Character concept below:
Name: Melody Smith (Mels to her friends) Race: Human Gender: Female Class: Witch 1 Background: Entertainer Backstory: Melody was brought up in the muggle world (Kent, UK), as her parents are muggles. Her father works as an engineer and her mother was a secondary school teacher of literature. She was into drama and performing arts as she was growing up, always wanting the lead role in the primary school plays. She is a little weak and not as fast as her peers, failing PE (have a low STR/DEX scores), but made up for it by being quite good at English, Maths, and Performing Arts (higher INT/CHA). When the letter for admission to Hogwarts arrived, her parents originally thought it was a joke. However, after seeing some suspicious things that others didn't seem to notice, Melody thought it might be true. When an emissary for the wizarding world arrived, the world was opened to Melody. She saw this as a lead performance in her own play that she always wanted; the typical girl who led a normal life being thrust into a big world as a protagonist! She begged and pleaded with her parents to let her go. Though suspicious about this sudden revelation that magic really exists, they finally relented as she was allowed to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Build: Probably more looking towards the illusion and enchantment schools. She wants to be flashy and show off more than throw fire. Her preferred classes are probably Charms and Transfiguration, and less inclined to Flying and Defence Against the Dark Arts, as she would not be as good at them.
Born in the USA to a Wizard Father (House Pukwudgie) and No-Mag Mother. When he was 8 they moved to London, because his Mothers Law Firm took a big client. He was always smarter than the kids, which caused him to get picked on. At first this started to get him down, but after his dad told him things would soon get better he started thinking. Eventually he would start plotting on the kids picking on him, nothing malicious or harmful just tricked and practical jokes that would make them look bad and take the focus of of him.
When accepted to Hogwarts, he take interest in defence and adrenaline rising classes like Defence against the dark arts, flying, and charms.
Hi! I have a character concept that I like, but not great intelligence. He's more of the quidditch team and being the protector guy, like a paladin. Since wizards are all about their intelligence score, would you want me to change it so that he has one that's higher?
Background: Noah was born and raised in the Muggle world. When his letter arrived, he thought it was some kind of a bad joke. He didnt remember much of his parents, and surely none of them had ever been to this thing called "Hogwarts". Noahs mother didnt survive his birth, he only knew her from photos. His father had, after a year of sadness and sorrow, meet the only person Noah could now call family, his stepmother Theresa. Their relation didnt last long either, Noahs father died in a car accident two years later. His stepmothers way of dealing with the loss was to immerse herself with work. She never felt like having kids until she met Noahs dad, and now she was suddenly stuck with a son and no father. Theresa was working for an insurance company, slowly climbing up the ladder, and with a spot in the directorate righ before her eyes she was focussing on work rather then spending time with Noah. They had to move houses a lot, which meant that Noah never managed to stay at any school for longer than a few months. Noah thus had to learn how to make friends quickly, or rather not get involved at all. While he was a friendly, openminded and surprisingly well-mannered child on the outside, he began to feel bitter everytime he got into a new house. He always had to go back to zero, no friends and no real mother. The only thing way of affection Theresa regularly exhibited was a steady flow of presents as she was trying to make up for the missing bond with money. Noah had to learn how to occupy himself on his own, his main companions being books, TV shows and the radio. The first spark of magic came to him as the ability to sometimes switch the channel without touching the remote, but even as more and more weird things like that kept occurring, he had to deal with it alone because he had noone to talk with. When the letter came, he didnt even fully read it at first. Noah thought it was some sort of a strange advertisment. It took 3 additional letters and the realization that they were brought by owls instead of the mailman to convince him that there could really be some sort of a "magical community". The next step was to convince his stepmother Theresa of letting him go, which turned out to be harder than expected because she had already sorted out a boarding school she had planned to sent him to. Theresa had never heard of "Hogwarts" before either, and she wanted to make sure Noah was educated in the best way possible, but since Hogwarts would keep him away from home for enough time as well, she gave in eventually. Noah had already read the first half of all new schoolbooks anyway.

*sigh* i guess i shouldve gone with the standard array ^^
Build: While Noah is overall absolutely excited about the wizarding world and wants to know as much as he can about every little aspect of it, the subject he is interested in the most are defence against the dark arts and care of magical creatures. Another huge aspect for him, however, is that he finally gets to stay with the same group of people for a longer time period.

The houses will be a part of the campaign and you will be sorted into it. You will have a chance to have imput.
Side note: Gender spells help me to separate mechanisms in the game. I am not try to dictate Real life stuff here just trying to play a game.
Alright, then the character creation is basically outer appearance and background story?
Yes
I'm still around and interested in this. Would you like a PM with the character concept?
Sure ..
// also change in character creation it does not matter on gender cleric/Druid will be open to all

Mel, Michael, Noah your Owl Letters will come soon.
Redwolfe I am fine with your idea roll something up and we will get started.
Dice Rolls, Standard Or Point Buy?
For all my wizards use the standard array or keep the 3d6 rolls your choice.
Ok Rolled 3d6 for the Character not sure how to get it to you so I'll link it here
Michael Mathus
I would love to give this a try.
Kres - Aarakocra Monk - Level 1 - Lost Mines of Phandelver
One thing I want to state here I game on trust...
for redwolfe try this ([roll]3d6 then close it with close the bracket with /)
It will simply generate a number like such 10
