As Tyris moves backwards to get away from the trapped area..
The Floor closes back up(of the pit springs shut), and the the whole 10 foot area moves as if on a axis. The top half of the pit tilts 90 degrees to the north. Anyone within 5 feet (currently Shadow and Oreus) can look down as a free action, and see gears 30 feet down.
"If we do need to go over there, i may need some help. First however... Shadow, while you are over there, check those doors. If they are locked we will need to go back to the door that is jammed open."
“If these doors are locked let me get back across to you all and we will leave this area and go back up the hallway. I have a rope I can tie around myself and throw you the other end.”
Shadow checks the doors, if they are locked he will watch the trap for a couple minutes to see if it closes. His idea will be to do maybe a running jump to get across to his allies, his allies can back up the hallway and hang onto the rope as a back up!

After consulting with Teechu I realized that after the trap doors in the floor closes, those of you up top can't see what is happening down in the trap.
After 4 rounds you are out of initiative. So unless someone wants to do something in those 4 rounds, I'll assume you waited, and you talked about what to do for those 4 rounds.
Let me know if you wanted to do something during those rounds, or if you want are just talking and planning what to do.

Shadow ties a rope around his waist and tosses it over to the people on the other side of the trap.
“I am going to run and jump back across to you, hopefully with the rope you all can stop me from falling in if I fail”

Are you trying to make a long jump?
Long Jump. When you make a long jump, you cover a number of feet up to your Strength score if you move at least 10 feet on foot immediately before the jump. When you make a standing long jump, you can leap only half that distance. Either way, each foot you clear on the jump costs a foot of movement.
If yes give me a (Dex) perception check before you jump. (+6 instead of your normal +4)
Counting out 20 ft of rope (10 for the trap and 10 for the long jump), Shadow throws the rest of the rope to Oreus. Backing up while mentally preparing himself for the jump, Shadow realizes that he is at the end of the rope, but he doesn't feel the back of the hallway behind him. Looking back he notices that he is halfway between the wall. As he can see the wall, but not his back leg, or backpack.
Shadow steps backwards through an illusionary wall, and finds himself in a new room. Turn around he sees
Carved into the south wall is a large map showing various interconnected rooms and corridors. The lines of the map glow faintly but do not shed enough light to illuminate the chamber. There are two gear doors, one one the west, and one on the east side of the room.
Shadow will move back through the false wall and tel his allies what he saw. “Hey guys we need to decide what to do, since this is hidden I think we try to get everyone over to me and go this way and try these doors instead of this hallway “

During the time the trap arms and dismarms, Oreus looks around and tries to focus to pick any noise or movement in the other rooms.
But he is too confused by the wave of the vents and just stares in the void with mouth open
