Esa flits from stone to stone, touching some of the runes and images. The runes are part of the activating magic, she sees this. She notices some of them are close to being worn smooth from rain and the passage of time and wonders if this will effect the magic.
"I think we have to put something on the stone altar in the middle," she says.
When Grimbald places the Acorn the usually invisible runes on the acorn glow, as does the activating runes on the standing stones. A glowing circle appears around the altar. The elves hurriedly back out of the circle, while any of the party who weren't already step into it. There is a swirl of wind and then the scenery around you outside of the standing stones fades, there is a sensation of cold, and then warmth again as a different scenery fades into view. The standing stones are the same, but now you are in a similar clearing but there are ruined elf built ruins about 300 yards away, and near you is a sloped stone building with one entrance and stones going down into darkness.
Looking stunned and surprised are a bunch of goblins - these look different to the southern goblins you have fought before - who are accompanied by the hulking shape of a black-furred dire wolf.
The goblins are about 30 ft from you and look like they were about to enter the short, squat building and go down the stairs.
Augustin and Vakiel close to attack, standing side by side.
One of the goblins (not glowing) is unusually large and muscular, still short, but noticeably different from the others. It wields a big axe. Augustin targets that one and Vakiel takes on one of the smaller, glowing ones.
Augustin against the big goblin with the axe - Attack: 9 Damage: 11.
Vakiel against a glowing goblin - Attack: 25 Damage: 12.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Vakiel's attack kills the goblin outright.
Esa'sfire bolt attack hits, but it only scorches the goblin's hide armour.
Augustin's attack is blocked by the big goblin with the axe who then pushes Augustin's sword away and brings the axe around in an arc. It's a little clumsy but it is an impressive manoeuvre. (DM: This is a reaction that this goblin has called Tricksy Warrior which gives an attack at disadvantage if a foe misses it).
Big goblin's reaction attack (with disadvantage): Attack: 8 Damage: 10.

There's a brief, soft glow from the image and a resonating hum from the crystal but nothing else.
