Corlith looks to the cathedral sceptically. It seems to only b a matter of time before the collapse off the towers reaches the cathedral itself, but perhaps it is protected by Torm.
"Yes, Lulu has spoken to me on occasion, but not about that demon lord. Though she did previously mention Zariel's sword to me", he replies to Reed.
When Reed details his plan, he looks up at the companion, "I am not certain, but I get a feeling we have to deal with that first", he says indicating towards it.
"With any luck the cities leaders will be alive and well, and already know what needs to be done", he declares, but his tone highlights a lack of confidence in those words.
"So.. do you have a way to pop down and unhook the city from the chains? Cause if you know of a way to do that, I'm all ears." Reya smiles at Reed but then looks back with despair at the ruined fortress.
She leads the group forward to the hole in the gate. Reya turns to Roo, "Might make sense to make sure the coast is clear before we bring all these people straight to the castle?" Stepping through, they find themselves within the fortress walls and in a large courtyard.
Once inside, they spot two humans in plate armor lying dead on the ground near the shattered gate, blood still oozing from their bite wounds. Harkina recoils a bit, "Yes, I'll wait here with my boys and anyone else that wants to stay back. Virro, did you want me to watch your little clinger there?"
Virro gives a relieved smile to Harkina, saying “Yes, please. Thank you.” He turns to the girl and says “Now you wait here with the nice lady. We’ll make sure the coast is clear and that it is safe. Okay?” He ushers the child into the waiting arms of Harkina.
Virro looks around, trying to spot any creatures that could have taken a chunk out of the fighters in plate armor. He does a 360 looking for any sign of hidden assailants. (See personal channel.).

“Hey uh… guys. There is something that I hear near the gates, near the entrance. Two somethings. Some fearsome beast, or demon. Something that likes to chew up knights and swallow them, likely.” He turns to Corlith, and to Archie. “Can either of you cast an illusion, perhaps of a happy go lucky knight fearlessly “storming the castle”, so that it will draw them out and we can see what we are dealing with?” Virro can’t see anything, but keeps craning his neck to try and do so.

"Where?" Reed asks Virro quietly. "Behind the gates? Inside the courtyard?"
Reed takes a look at the walls around the gates. Are they intact? Intact enough for someone to walk up quietly and peek around from a height to see what's down there?
Corlith also notes the bones on the ground, and realises this is not the sanctuary they were hoping for, at least not yet. On hearing Virros' warning of two beasts capable of chewing up knights, he takes measures to protect himself.
"Illusions are not my forte sorry, Virro. But perhaps I have a way of drawing them out they will find surprising", he says with a grin.
With that said, he starts to walk towards the entrance Virro highlighted, sheathing himself in thunderous energy as he walks. As he gets closer, he makes a bit of noise, enough to attract whatever it is.
Action: Cast Armor of Agathys using transmuted spell metamagic to change cold to thunder - Level 3 - 1 hour (15 temp hit points) Special: Concentration Resistance
Seeing that there was an actual threat within the courtyard, Harkina marshalls the kids and the followers back through the gate to wait in the street. It is about 50 feet to the front doors and there is rubble everywhere. The rubble does tend to keep to the perimeter of the courtyard, so the path to the front doors is clear and this is the path Corlith decides to take.
Wreathed in his protections, the tiefling moves forward and catches the eyes of the two Hell Hounds that are guarding the front doors. They growl as he approaches, but at this distance, that is all they do as they watch him.
Archie pumps her fists like she's loading two shotguns and her gauntlets begin to crackle with lightning. She moves off to the left breaking up the group to give the hounds more targets to have to pick between and advances, but not getting ahead of corlith.
Virro moves forward slightly, waiting for a moment when the hell hounds are within 5 feet of each other. At that moment, he launches his ghostly hand from his right fist, as it flies close to them it breaks in half, one ethereal hand attaching to the left, and one to the right. He grips as they attach and smiles when they seem to damage them with necrotic energy.
Roo sees everyone moving to contact with the Hell Hound and rushes in, moving to the right and staying as far away from the one on the left as possible as not to get flanked.
"For the Gallus!" He shouts as he magic mace comes out and he drops Booming Blade on the injured Hell Hound. "You shall suffer for every canine that has snatched one of my people in the night!"
Turn Summary
Roo Movement: Dashes 50 feet to right Hell Hound Action- Cast Booming Blade: Targeting right Hell Hound. 23 to hit, 9 bludgeoning damage + 7 thunder damage, 16 damage total. If it moves more than 5 feet it takes an additional 11 thunder damage. Bonus Action- Dash: See movement
Lulu flies in and settles himself right by Corlith, the tiefling feels a slight magical aura over him, something he might have felt before when he was near the Holyphant but is unsure as he is especially aware of his surroundings as he marches towards the hellhounds.
Reya, seeing herself too far from the beasts to cause any real damage, starts rushing in. Seeing the right one go down, she dashes to the other side of the left beast, trying to give someone flanking advantage.
Moving toward the remaining hell hound Archie closes tha gap and positions herself to make the most of Reya's help. Striking at the house with one fist, then the other (22 to hit, 10 thunder dam. 20 to hit, 8 thunder dam.) as the force of the hits booms through the hellhounds body, small vibrations remain resonant within its bones ready to distract the beast should it target anyone but Archie. (Dis on attacks toward anyone til the start of Archie's next turn)
The hellhound remaining looks at his fallen friend and howls. It is cut short as Reed's arrow pierces her and she turns in that direction. But when Archie slams into her with her thundergauntlets, she trembles as she stands there. But only for a moment as the energy goes to her core and she topples where she stands.
"Bad dogs", Corlith says in Infernal as he carries on walking past the hell hounds towards the entrance of the cathedral. Once he reaches the gates, unless they are locked or barred, he will continue walking, a little disappointed his companions were so efficient.
"What is this ridiculousness?" Roo scoffs as his tiny foot kicks out against one of the dead Hell Hounds. "They just don't make demons like they used to, buck. It seems like not long ago you could go up against a group of devil's and they'd at least put up a fight! Do you lot remember that time we fought those five or six bearded ones? Why, I think back then is when I got all these!"
"Torm, like the bridge. That's good, let's hope it's consecrated ground. It should shield us from the demons, shield these folk, let's go!"

Reed mulls over Reya's question about the chains. "Seems like an IronMaiden or Archie question to me. Bit of heat might melt through the metal."
Seeing the dead bodies, he draws an arrow out and puts his back to the wall and starts looking for hiding places an enemy might be waiting.

”Not sure those doggies will play nice with him.”
Reed then takes a breath, goes still, lines up an arrow and lets it fly at the hound on the right.
Once the arrow strikes the target, he nods at the other he’ll hound “Go play with that one.”
