I will cast light on a fist sized rock and toss it though the waterfall aiming for it to land about 5’ inside the cave and see if I can see anything from outside.
It's hard to see beyond the waterfall, but the dark patch that looks like a cave mouth now looks like a light patch as your rock presumably lights up the entrance to the cave.

Kathra nods her agreement, the rain having worn thin with her. She peers carefully around the cavern as she enters, wary of any signs of a former or current resident.
As you enter the cavernous tunnel you don't see much but darkness beyond the soft light of Gavin's magically lit stone. As you strain to hear for any sounds beyond the rushing waters behind you and the storm that rages beyond, you detect nothing for a few breaths, and then an echoing "BZZZZZTTTTTTTTT" issues forth in the most surprising of ways. You're not sure how far down the sound came from and you certainly can't see much beyond your stone's light from here.

It's not unlikely for giant cave bees to be a thing. After all you've heard of other giant sized insects and caves are a good analog for insect burrows for creatures of that size. However, you're not sure that giant cave dwelling bees would put the entrance to their hive on the other side of a waterfall. It seems counterproductive to how bees normally operate.
For Kathra:
The sound is brief and sharp, with only the echos prolonging it throughout the cave. As you search your mind, you can't really pinpoint any creature that would make such a sound.
For Peren:
You sneak ahead, dagger in hand, looking to find the source of the sound. Instead you find your worn stone path gives way to a circular, three pillared room with a smaller circular patch of sand in the middle of it. You see paths that branch off to the left and right in the dim light. There appears to be markings on the walls, but without more light, you can't quite make them out. As you enter the room, an angry hooting noise issues forth from a niche atop the central pillar. You see pair of glowing yellow eyes from a normal sized gray owl staring down at you. It's wings spread in a miffed display. Between the central and rightmost pillars you see a darker alcove, though if there is anything in said alcove, you can't detect it.

Like a shadow, Peren leaves the lighted area for a few moments and then reappears with tales of interest further down the tunnel. In his wake, you vaguely hear the sound of a hooting owl over the rushing waters outside. The weird buzzing noise seems to have stopped.

Mirabel hears the hooting and relaxes a little. If there were owls, there probably weren't giant bees. He carefully follows Peren, attempting to make as little noise as possible.
“Interesting” mutters Gavin. “I guess we should go have a look around. Do you want to take point Peren since you are the quietest?”
((If and when we move forward, I will pull up the rear seeing as chain mail isn’t the most silent fashion acccesory. I will also grab the rock I cast light on and put it in my shield hand so it gives off just a hint of light))
With Peren quietly in the lead, and most of the rest of you not so quietly behind him, you walk down the rough cave path to where the stone begins to look less natural and more worked. As describe above, you come to a circular chamber supported by three stone pillars. To your left you see a passageway that follows a short set of stairs through a lower door that looks to be lightly flooded with water. To your right a dryer stone tunnel winds around outside of your vision. The center of the room is dominated by a soft sandy circle hedged in by the stone of the floor. Beyond it, you see a large alcove of sorts. Strange symbols and pictograms are etched into the worn walls. You see the makings of even more of these images in the alcove area, but would need to get closer to study them. As you enter the room, a normal sized gray owl hoots at you angrily from a niche near the top of the central pillar, spreading its wings defensively at your presence.
The first thing you can tell is that the carvings are extremely ancient, almost completely weathered away in some places by the passing of time. The language depicted doesn't make much sense to you, though through the pictorial imagery, you see the beginning of some sort of procession or parade of humanoid figures. They seem to be carrying with them various gemstones in large baskets and boxes. The images wrap around the room along the walls on both sides, seeming to meet somehow in the alcove area. You're vaguely sure that for such lasting workmanship, these carvings were possibly the result of some sort of proto-dwarven civilization, as no other race comes to mind whose craft could stand this test of time.
