The charmed Golgari pokes his head back into the library with a look of disbelief on his face, then it was replaced by shock then anger. "Those were our scholars from our past, back when it meant something to be a Golgari! Now they dishonored them with this transformation into these beasts." He stands there, looking at the library and the dead demons, where the statues once stood is nothing to show they were even there.
"They're erasing us, not just leading us down this darker path, with promises of power and glory while erasing who we really were. They world will only remember us from the dark crusade, and not what we were before those bad decisions fated us to this."
"We won't let this happen," Khessa tries to reassure the Golgari, patting him on the shoulder. "We are all witnesses to your past now, and it will not be forgotten. And if you abandon the dark crusade the Nefarious Duo is trying to push you into, you will have not only a past, but a future as well! I'm sure you will understand this."
Having searched the room and exterminated the threats, the blonde arcane warrior begins to look around. Are there any exits that allow to continue the exploration?
It will take you about 10 minutes to search the room, in which you find the following items:
The 3 demon wrought swords the red demons were using; the 2 great swords the "Ataeshia" were using
Under a lot of dust, a suit of armor that is well preserved and shiny; A Tome of Understanding; A scroll of; on one of the shelves in a small wooden box, a pearl of power; and on another shelf under a lot of dust, a helmet. You sense these items stand out due to their preserved conditions, and a sense of magic around them.
Sparhawk looks over the five enemy swords, the three that the red demons were using, he looks at in disgust, "Demon forged, with their accursed power imbuing them" He inspects the other 2 swords and looks at them in amazement. "These are not demon wrought; they are old, ancient." Brother Maynard comes over as he has been cataloging what he has observed in his book. He also looks at the sword.
"This is from the great war, when weapons were created by the crusade and caste during the forging with power to make them stronger against the enemy. These two must be relics from that time, being used by these foul creatures."
Khessa is surprised by the number of magical items in the room—and even more surprised by the comments about the Greatswords. Could one of them be useful to her?
To determine what might be useful to someone, the blonde arcane warrior takes the time, along with Lord Akkron, to ritually cast Identify on each of the items whose function is not yet clear (namely, the two greatswords, the suit of armor, the scroll, and the helmet).
After casting your identification spell, you determine you have a Tome of Understanding; a scroll of titan summoning-colossus; a pearl of power; armor of invulnerability; and a helm of comprehend languages
Khessa is fascinated by the description of the Wave of Sorrow and even more by the powers that divination reveals to her.
The blonde arcane warrior balances the greatsword in her hand and, after practicing a few thrusts and slashes, comments: "It's probably the deadliest weapon I've ever wielded. I'll try to make good use of it."
The tall adventuress explains the powers of the other items to everyone and invites anyone interested to take what they need. "I don't think I'm interested in anything else, except a Wave of Sorrow." She places in her bag of holding the items nobody is interested in.
Clarac browses the books in the library while Khessa and Lord Akkron identify the swords and other items, after she first spends 10 minutes giving an inspiring speech. She begins with, "It is never too late to do what is right! The world will judge the Golgari for their current actions, but what they do next will be even more important."
She declines to take a sword, but she does comment on how remarkable the two non-demonic ones are.
OOC:
Clarac is using her inspiring leader feat to give each PC plus Sparhawk 26 temporary hit points
As tempting as 8d6 bonus damage is, the magic resistance aura of Clarac's holy avenger is too good to give up.
While those in need of some of the loot take what they need, Khessa looks at what options there are for further exploration - and if there is more than one, she asks the Golgari for advice on the path that should lead most directly to the confrontation with the Nefarious Duo.
The blonde arcane warrior meanwhile stores a new Haste in the faithful Alfred, to replace the one he used in the battle just concluded.
The charmed Golgari pokes his head back into the library with a look of disbelief on his face, then it was replaced by shock then anger. "Those were our scholars from our past, back when it meant something to be a Golgari! Now they dishonored them with this transformation into these beasts." And if you abandon the dark crusade the Nefarious Duo is trying to push you into, you will have not only a past, but a future as well! I'm sure you will understand this."
Vrox apologizes to the charmed Golgari: "I'm truly sorry that we had to destroy the statues. Yes, the Nefarious Duo will twist and ruin anything just to achieve their own ends. They do not care what they destroy or who they hurt along the way." Then he brightens a bit and tries to be encouraging, saying, "But if we help your people evict the cultists from your halls, and the Golgari join the fight against the Nefarious Duo, there is a bright future ahead. Once the forces of Chaos are again defeated, as they were centuries ago, your people will be free to build and create again. These statues may have been corrupted and then destroyed, but it leaves room for the Golgari to create new statues! Build new things!" (He'd like this Golgari to continue to be their ally even after the Charm Person wears off. Once he realizes that he was charmed, Vrox hopes that he sees that the party treated him and the Golgari well. That way, Vrox can just argue that he had to charm the dwarf to help him break free from the demonic influence!)
Vrox is a good investigator and helps with the search of the rest of the library. Once they have gathered the gear, he does a little reconnaissance, talks to the charmed Golgari, and stands guard while Khessa and Lord Akkron Identify the magic items they found.
Treasure:
Vrox merely shrugs at the greatswords. "Such weapons are too heavy for my old hands. I'll stick with my old friend," patting his Dragon's Wrath Longbow, "and the lighter weapons of the elves," referring to the Elven Vorpal Sword the he took from one of the soldiers in Veldos.
Vrox wrinkles his nose at the demon-wrought blades, as though he can smell the evil on them. Again, they are too large for him to use effectively, but he laughs when Khessatakes one. "Ho ho! Yes, let us use the weapons of the enemy against them so that they may feel the pain that they inflict on others!" He does not object if Tyekanik or Sir Sparhawk or Yoht want to take the other Pale Flame blade or one of the Waves of Sorrow.
Scroll of Titan Summoning - Vrox suggests that Lord Akkron take possession of the scroll: "You already seem adept at summoning aberrations and spirits and dragons, Lord Akkron. Who better to summon a mighty colossus?! It could be useful if this war proceeds to a pitched battle between armies. Placing a titan among our enemies would be a delightful surprise and a fantastic way to reduce their numbers!"
Armor of Invulnerability Vrox laughs at the idea of him wearing a suit of plate armor, even if it has such fantastic properties! It can go to whichever fighter is able to attune to it, or they can just keep it for now and gift it to another ally later.
Tome of Understanding Vrox is very interested in this tome, but he does not have time to study it now. He puts it into his backpack and silently hopes that the Golgari don't consider it theft. (They seem to have forgotten about their library!)
Helm of Comprehending Languages If no one else wants it, Vrox will swap his Cap of Water Breathing for the Helm of Comprehending Languages. He knows many languages, but he doesn't, for example, speak Dwarvish. It may be helpful to know what the Golgari are saying to each other if there is any further negotiation with them. (He puts his cap in his backpack in case he needs it later.)
Pearl of Power If none of the other spellcasters claim it, Vrox will take this item for now and figure out whether to switch between them whenever he has a chance to change his attunement. Vrox has been using a Ring of Spell Storing, but based on the way he has used magic so far, the Pearl of Power might be more useful. In any case, he could use it until their first Short Rest each day and then recover one spell slot and switch his attunement back to the ring for the rest of the day.

He ponders on the question and shakes his head. "There are so many changes, I have not been inside for a while, and I have never seen these statues come alive and attack before." He looks to the east and west ends of the room where there is an opening into passageways. He slowly shakes his head.
He points to the western entrance. "Thats was the way to more scholars who worked inside the library here." He then points to the eastern entrance. "That was a reception hall for guests who had come here to trade or on diplomatic missions."
"The Nefarious Duo should have taken up residence closer to the heart of the complex than the reception hall..." Khessa speculates. "Let's try exploring to the west."
And, if no one objects, she leads the way in that direction.
You enter the passageway, dimly lit by lanterns, and go 20 feet, before it turns due north and goes for another 30 feet. You barely make out the outline of an opening, but on the other side is a thick, inky darkness that no light shines from. You hear a whispering voice, "Go back, your way is blocked. Only death awaits you at the hands of my queen and me. Go back, you are not wanted here! If you keep coming, I will add your skulls to my throne, your blood will be added to my endless sea of blood! Be warned and heed, go back!"
The charmed Golgari pokes his head back into the library with a look of disbelief on his face, then it was replaced by shock then anger. As for the great swords-the 3 demon wrought swords are known as the Wave of Sorrow, damage is 4d6+6 slashing, plus 4d6 acid damage.
The other two swords are known as Pale Flame swords, when not wielded by a demon, damage are 4d6+6 radiant, plus 4d6 flame.
