"Well... I doubt he was especially happy with us to begin with," Akkron says with a chuckle. "The real question is whether or not destroying this idol would cause immediate retaliation. As far as I know, the gods rarely intervene directly in the material world. But I don't really trust that this Azash will follow the rules bind other deities."

[[ OOC: @Jonpawl What a nice map! It reminds me of those from the first edition D&D modules! What memories... ]]
"Oh, well... if the only way we have is through the room," Khessa remarks, shrugging "let's destroy the idol. If Azash could act directly against us, he would be doing it already, I think... idol or no idol. What do you prefer, friends? Shall we try to dissolve its magic? Or destroy it physically with a 'generous donation of platinum'? Or do you have better means, Master Akkron?"
“Let’s see what happens when we anger a god,” Tyekanik says, looking at the idol and pulling out his axe, flexing his arms. “What better way than just smashing it to dust?”
"Well, if the idea is to smash..." Khessa reflects "Then I'll try to give the first blow, from here, without going in. The idol might get damaged enough to lose its magical properties - and then you might be able to finish destroying it safely, Tyekanik. Just give me a minute..."
Obviously, the very heavy block [[ OOC: about 167360 pounds (rounded down) - more than 305 tons (rounded down) - as computed a few posts ago ]] falls, hitting the idol!
[[ @DM: The idol falls apart, I guess? Or is something different happening? If it falls to pieces... the black magic aura goes away? Or keep emanating from the pieces? ]]
As your magical energy consolidates into a solid form, it crashes down on the stone idol, shattering it into pieces. After the dust settles, you do find a smaller statue made from the same black material that the slivers had been made from. You deduce that this is the source of the dark magic. Brother Maynard looks closely at it and nods his head.
"From descriptions I have read, that is a very old statue of Azash, from the old days when his temples scoured the land. I wonder how it got here? Was it always here, or did they bring it and built this temple for it?"
There is a sense of a dark awareness of you, a sense of growing hatred.
"Oh," Khessa pretends to speak to Azash, in a mocking tone "was my generous offer more than you could handle, Azash? How sorry I am..."
The blonde arcane warrior then asks her friends: "Shall I send Alfred to get the statuette? We could keep it in the lead chest, together with the slivers... The chest, up to now, has proven safe for transporting the slivers".
"Anyway, let's try to be ready to receive visitors..." the tall adventuress warns "Not only does Azash seem to have noticed us, but some of his faithful may have heard the sound of the idol breaking into pieces..."
Relieved that her mentor approves, Khessa sends her Shield Guardian to fetch the Azash's statuette and put it in the same lead container that holds the shards already collected.
The blonde arcane warrior keeps her eyes on the doors, ready for visits... and trouble.
Mal swiftly and as quietly as he can moves form door to door listening at each to see if she hears anything coming from behind them.
Perception: 26, 24 (Reliable Talent) 22 at the doors in a clockwork pattern.
If she hears anything she will alert the others and point to the correct door and then move opposite it pulling out her crossbow waiting to see what comes out of it.

All three are similar to the one you entered-double black doors made from wood. As you listen to all three doors, you hear nothing from the other side of the three.
Great! Now, if Alfred had no problems in putting the Azash's statuette in the lead container, since from the doors nobody seems to be coming, Khessa asks: "Master Akkron... while you are still concentrating on your detection spell... can you feel magic coming from beyond any of those doors?"
None, once the statue is secure away, the feeling of dark magic goes away, though there is a very faint trace from the door to the third door, upper northeast facing east.
Akkron points towards the third door, the one to the upper northeast facing east.
"Almost all of the dark magic has been contained, but I can still sense traces from that door,"he says. "...which unfortunately means that is probably exactly where we need to go to if we want to do a thorough job here."

Before continuing, the blonde arcane warrior, slightly embarrassed, turns to Tyekanik: "I'm sorry if I stole you the fun of breaking the statue before... You know, I was afraid that its magic could be dangerous for those who entered the room! If we meet other statues that are not protected by dark magic, I promise I will leave them to you, okay?”
When Master Akkron reveals where the very faint trace of magic now comes from, Khessa comments: "Well, if we wanted to track the Dark magic before, I guess we'll do the same now..." and she sends Alfred to open that door, while she watches from a little further back. What lies beyond?
Mal will follow along behind Alfred after he opens the door and silently look through the entrance and then follow him down to see what he sees, looking for traps as she goes. Whispering to the others, "So far I have not heard anything down this passageway but who knows what lies beyond. Follow Tye and I down the passageway a little ways behind us until I signal you to come closer."
Of the three doors along the north side of the room, this one is the 3rd from left to right, in the northeast corner, opening to the east. The doors open into a similar hallway you were in, that goes due east for 15 feet. Then it turns from a constructed, squared off hallway into a hewn passageway in the rock. There are still torches along the walls every ten feet. The passageway angles to the southeast for 30 feet, before it runs into a north/south hallway that had some minor collapsing in it. The rubble blocks most of the northern hallway, with the exception of a five-foot-wide opening. You see only one support column, the second on appears under or part of the rubble. To the south, it opens into a 15-foot-wide hallway. To either side of this hallway, facing south, are two 4-armed Gargoyles as part of the supporting columns.
The trace of the dark magic heads south.

The blonde arcane warrior then invokes the same Creation spell with which, before setting sail for the new continent, she had created the sauna and bath materials... but this time the creation is different - she causes a block of solid platinum, 5' x 5' x 5', to appear above the idol, at ceiling height.

"Yes, having Alfred handle the idol would seem our safest course of action," Akkron approves.
