Gundren seems barely able to sit up, let alone run. Badly beaten, he shivers and seems to look past Quinn. He mutters in Dwarvish. "Is it really you, Nundro? My brother? Is it time to go home?"He doesn't seem able to answer any of Jurgen's questions.
Jurgen leaves the room to try to pry more boards off the sealed door south of the guard quarters. But then he hears the sound of boots from the west, and voices arguing in Goblin. (From what Jurgen is able to make out, one is complaining that "the acolytes" aren't doing any work. The other shushes him, admonishing that "Jagged Tooth" is listening.)
“Gundren,” Syzygy quick footed to his side and tries to lift him. “Yes, your brother is waiting, we have to go.” The dwarf’s limp form is a struggle, his wounds severe. “Where the **** is Kimberley” syzygy curses the air. Syzygy fumbles around for something to haphazardly dress a wound or ease his pain.
Joining Quinn, Syzygy finds he has no way to help the ailing dwarf. Gundren is stable – not dying – but needs time and care to rest and recover. Syzygy is able to lift the burly dwarf with a little effort.
Meanwhile, Jurgen hears two sets of bootsteps approaching the western door of the guard quarters. He has about one round to act before they open the door.
Jurgen retreats to the King's Quarters with the others. Now everyone can hear the approaching boots and voices, which seem to have now entered the Guard's Quarters from which Jurgen just retreated.
Jurgen and Quinn duck through the door to the west into the ancient storeroom near the concealed exit, before the newcomers arrive from the south.
Is Syzygy following suit? Is he trying to carry the semiconscious Gundren? (If so, make a Dex check to see how quickly you can lug him through the ruins before he risks being spotted.)
Quinn examines the door to see if his lock can affix to it. (Make an Investigation check to proceed.)
Syzygy was able to get him kneeling steady, but the cumbersome weight was proving too much for syzygy to carry.
He realised he was going to have to make a decision. “I’ll be back for you,” syzygy says as he lowers the kind employer back to the dirty floor and choosing instead to secure a not so necessarily kind [ooc: and possibly unhinged] friend/ally.
Syzygy leaves Gundren in the ruined bathroom and races to join the others on the other side of the door in the collapsed storehouse.
The last to leave, Bryony hears the footsteps approaching the King's Quarters where they had just been standing.
Through the door, you hear the newcomers gasp as they find their king dead on the floor.
What next? (You can escape through the flap to the north and out into the wilderness, or you can stay where you are to listen or ambush, or you can circle south, or...?)
Quickly scanning the construction of the ancient door, Quinn concludes that face and frame of it lack anything to latch a lock onto without making the time for a carpentry project.
And time is scarce. The shouts of surprise on the other side of the door turn to calls of alarm, laced with an undertone of panic.
The rotting barrels, now drenched with oil, ignite in a smoky blaze. Quinn takes his position. (Where is everyone standing?)
Nothing immediately happens. The canvas flap acting as a door to the southern hall looks like it is in danger of catching fire. The voices outside the eastern door go quiet.
Quinn keeps his bow at the ready as he steps towards Syzygy. His eyes shift from the door immediately to the east as well as the curtain to the south. In a low voice he asks "Are there any other rooms that you know of where Kimberly might be held captive?"

It's a smoky fire. Flames lick the greasy canvas room divider as the room starts to fill with sooty black smoke. All remains quiet.
