Bryony coughs, and her eyes flutter open. She looks up at Quinn and is confused. What just happened? The last thing she remembers is a room full of goblins...Gasping, she looks around at the carnage of the battlefield. She sees Jurgen, Tessa, and Sir Roderick all lying on the floor in various pools of blood. She stumbles to her feet. It looks like the wolves are the remaining threat. The little halfling digs in her backpack. She should have a few rations left.
She moves a bit closer to the wolves, mindful of just how huge they are compared to her, and tosses a chunk of dried meat from her ration pack on the cave floor as a peace offering to the wolves.

As Bryony continues to keep the two wolves calm, Tessa's breathing becomes easier (Death save: 14 Success! That makes three successes, and she is now stable.)
Human prisoner Death Save: 11 (He had two successes prior to this roll.)
At this point, we can come out of initiative. Combat is over. Tessa and Jurgen remain unconscious, and the human prisoner's state is still uncertain. The wolves have calmed down.
Tessa and Jurgen remain unconscious but stable. The human prisoner, still bound at the wrists, lay choking and bleeding on the stone floor. Sir Roderick lay pale and still. The dark and smoky cavern is a horror scene of dead goblin corpses. The wolves are content for the moment, competing with each other for sniffs at Klarg's gory head.
Bryony stands surveying the destruction, her eyes wide. They land on the still form of Sir Roderick, and she gasps, rushing over to him. She drops down onto her knees beside the older man, taking his wrist, feeling for a pulse, but it's obviously useless. The black-feather shaft of a goblin arrow still protrudes from his ruined throat.
"No!" she cries, her eyes welling up with tears. "This can't be real..."
It's the first time she's ever witnessed a death up close like this. She just keeps shaking her head as if that will somehow make Sir Roderick come back to life.
Syzygy feels something he hasn’t allowed himself to feel in a long time: a pang of heartache. He says nothing and avoids eye contact with Byrony, then leans over the unconscious human and attempts to stabilise his wounds.
Syzygy successfully manages to bind the human man's wounds (stabilized). He remains both shackled and unconscious. Tessa and Jurgen also remain unconscious.
What would Quinn, Bryony, and Syzygy like to do next? The cave remains quiet and still, other than the distant sounds of the stream and the sniffing of the wolves.
After a few moments, Bryony's tears slow down, and she rubs a hand across her face, sniffling. She seems to remember that they are not safe yet, and some of their friends still need help. Bryony kneels down next to Jurgen. The kobold seems pretty soundly unconscious, but at least he is still alive and looks stable. So does Tessa.
"Does anyone have any healing magic?" the halfling asks. "Otherwise, I think we'll just have to wait for them to wake up and hope no more goblins come along."
Quinn kneels beside Sir Roderick and places his hand on the chest of his fallen friend. The weathered old ranger whispers under his breath…
“I’m sorry, my friend. You fought valiantly. And with honor. Your death will not be in vain. I swear to you, with Melora as my witness, I will not rest until I have avenged your death. Sleep well my friend. Till we meet again, farewell.”
Quinn picks up Sir Roderick’s long sword and attaches it to his belt. He turns to Bryony and replies…
“I don’t know any sort of healing magics, but I do have another one of these potions that brought you back from the brink. Who should I use this on?
Perhaps, Tessa? She does know some healing magic. Maybe she can help Jurgen.”
Quinn fetches the last of the ornate stoppered bottles, uncorks it and walks over to Tessa. He kneels beside her and slowly pours the potion into her mouth.

"We'll need to rest a while before setting out." Syzygy takes off his hooded cloak, rolls it up and places it under Jurgen's head. The small stone lodged in Syzygy's forehead that he usually tries to conceal faintly glows in the dim light of the cave. "If we can get everyone up and walking again then perhaps we should return to the caravan. If not, we'll have to set up camp here, at least for a couple of hours." After positioning Jurgen into a more comfortable posture Syzygy turns his attention back to the wolves. "What to do about these two though?..." Feeling somewhat more confident they won't attack, Syzygy rolls Klarg's head with a few kicks into the entryway of the passage leading back towards the bridge. "Go get it".

After being fed the second bottle of red liquid by Quinn, Tessa awakens (and regains 9 hit points.)
Syzygy kicks Klarg's gory head down the passageway, but fails to distract the wolves. (There's something about Syzygy that these wolves detest, evidently!)
Jurgen and the prisoner remain unconscious. The cave system remains quiet.
Quinn smiles as he watches Tessa stir. He looks back towards Bryony and Syzygy and says...
"I thnk she'll be okay. Perhaps she can help Jurgen once she wakes."
He gets up ever so slowly and winces in pain. It's clear that he is not doing well. He carefully probes a deep gash on his side and groans audibly.
"Aye, friends, we do need to rest. But I don't know if it's safe to sleep here with these wolves. Let's see if I can find them something to eat."
Quinn slowly walks over to one of the dead goblins, he kneels by their side, and carefully fillets pieces off flesh off of its leg. He turns and tosses a piece to one of the wolves to see if they'll take it.

Bryony watches Quinn attempt to pacify the wolves. They make her nervous. She wishes they could just leave the cave, but none of them are in any fit shape to walk very far. Bryony kneels down next to Tessa, waiting for her to wake up.
"The goblins probably kept the wolves half-starved all the time," Bryony muses. "It's only fitting they end up being the wolves' next meal."
The wolves are neither interested in Goblin meat nor interested in remaining in this smoky cave full of death with you. Turning away from Quinn's offerings, one trots down the hallway toward the bridge and out of sight. The other follows behind it.
Jurgen and the prisoner remain unconscious. The cave system remains quiet. What would Quinn, Tessa, Bryony, and Syzygy like to do next?
Quinn breathes a sigh of relief as the wolves wander off. He looks around in search of a protected area where they might get some rest. His eyes settle on the upper level of this chamber.
"Perhaps we can rest up top. Once Tessa awakes she and Bryony could stand watch from defensible positions up high. Myself and Syzygy can get some rest and recuperate.
We can search the bodies once we've rested. How's that sound?
I'll carry Jurgen up top so he will be safe with us."
He walks over to Jurgen, checks his pulse to make sure he's still breathing and carries him up top.

Unless you have other business, the party creates a temporary encampment up on the ledge, pushing two dead goblin bodies aside. It's a fairly broad cavern up top - nearly forty feet wide, although the ceiling is low on one end. It also smells bad, and some of the smoke from the embers of what was probably a goblin cooking fire accumulates up top.
Jurgen awakens in 3 hours; the human prisoner, still bound at the wrists, in1 hours. It is probably late afternoon or early evening outside. Maybe too late to make it back to their wagon in the daylight.
The cave system remains quiet; the wolves do not reappear.
Quinn awakens feeling rested. He walks gingerly over to Jurgen who begins to stir and slowly awake. He kneels by him and says in a low hushed voice...
"Hello there, friend. Take your time. You're in rough shape. We have much to talk about. Rest easy, we're safe for now.
Once Jurgen is up and about, Quinn will update him on what's happened thus far, including the passing of our friend, Sir Roderick.
When he hears the human prisoner groan, he walks over to free him and cuts his bindings.
"Don't move too much too soon. You've in pretty rough shape.
You must be Sildar. I'm Quinn. My friends and I were hired by Gundren to escort a wagon to Phandalin. We found your horses along the Triboar trail and tracked you here.
Please, tell us what happened."
