As Syzygy dug Sir Roderick's grave, Bryony wandered the perimeter of the cottage looking for wildflowers. She gathers a few in her hands and returns to the ceremony. While Kimberly recites the prayer for the departed, Bryony walks up to the grave and tosses the flowers down onto Sir Roderick's chest.
"Sir Roderick fought bravely and died to save us," says Bryony. "He was true hero, but more than that he was a true friend. I will never forget him." Her eyes well up as she regards his still form in the grave.
Quinn makes his rounds checking in on everyone. He approaches Bryony and says "Would you be okay if we held off on checking in with your family until we turn in the mining supplies? The day is still young. And we could move about town more freely if we don't have to lug around all that gear. Whatdoya say?"

The hole is filled. Sir Roderick rests in his grave next to the cottage he held a deed to, flanked by a second, gaping hole in the ground leading to a forgotten cellar. The wagon, filled with undelivered supplies (including some now lightly used shovels) rests nearby. Neither the orc nor the boy returns, nor any other visitors. It is mid-afternoon, the weather clear, although the day grows a bit hot.
(Does everyone want to follow Quinn's suggestion to deliver the wagon, next?)
Unless you have further business, you depart Sir Roderick's dreary cottage and return up the side street toward the main thoroughfare of Phandalin. You again pass the Sleeping Giant tavern, now empty of clientele, and emerge onto the town square near the Stonehill Inn.
The square and main street are lively in comparison to the lonely lane you emerged from. Townsfolk run errands at the shops in town. Locals look up and smile as you pass.
Turning north, and following Gundren's confusing directions, you find yourselves at "Barthen’s Provisions", Phandalin's trading post. Inside you find a full stock of general supplies for miners and travelers – including backpacks, bedrolls, rope, rations, and the like. (Here you may buy nearly anything listed in the PHB for 25gp or less except weapons or armor. If you choose to purchase something here, post your transactions here, update your inventory, and deduct your currency accordingly!)
Tending to a middle-aged farmer trying on an oiled jacket are two young employees, barely out of their teens. "Y'need something?" calls one, seeing your entry.
Bryony steps up to the two young humans, trying to see if she recognizes them. She knows Barrthen quite well, having grown up in Phandalin, but she doesn't see him at the moment.
Kimberley nodded to the lads and added a few more scrolls to the pile on the counter, frowning slightly as she noted only two had been taken since she left the last lot and that one of those two was being used as note paper on the rear bench......
"Yup. Hold on. I'll get her," responds one of the clerks, whom Bryony recognizes as "Ander" but doesn't know much about him. The other young clerk continues to help her customer.
The proprietor is Elmina Barthen, a young human woman with a kindly manner, who appears a moment later with Ander. "The delivery? Thanks. Any troubles? Gundren with you?" She turns to Ander and instructs him, "Go fetch the goods. I'll have Thistle join you when she's done." Ander leaves, and Barthen turns back to the party. "We'll getcha paid shortly. Bryony Alderleaf?" she adds, spotting Bryony. "Been awhile. You been away?"
Syzygy enters Barthen’s. He casually walks amongst the goods. Unless any curious trinket catches his eye syzygy will probably only purchase some rations.(15sp deducted). He stops in place as Elmina mentions Gundren. He waits quietly for the locals to get reacquainted before tackling the issue of the captured employee.
DM: Can Quinn sell the agates he found in the goblin cave?
(Quinn expects they might take the agates in trade for goods here, but this doesn't look like an establishment that would offer cash for jewels. He's been told a little about the Phandalin Miner’s Exchange, on the other end of town, where local miners have their valuable finds weighed, measured, and paid out.)
Quinn joins Syzygy browsing the goods. He collects a few items and flags down a clerk and broaches the topic of trading the agates for some goods.
"I'd like to trade these agates for some goods. Would these cover my tab for these items?" Quinn motions to the items which consists of a length of Chain (10 feet), lock , torch and two portions of Rations (1 day).
IF it's not enough to cover the tab, Quinn has some coin to foot the rest of the tab.
(OOC: I believe that adds up to 16.01 gp. How much does he get for the agates?)
If nobody has any further words to say Kimberley begins moving earth back into the hole...

Bryony nods at Quinn. "That's a good idea. We made a promise to deliver the wagon. Let's do it."
The halfling returns to the wagon and clambers up into the back.
