"Ah meant Marwan if you see 'em before Ah do." Xivros is scanning for Marwan as well, but likely Xivros, tall, dressed in grey, with a fabulous head of blond hair, would be easier to spot.
You all get your tickets punched, and find Marwan who now seems to be accompanied by a faerie as well. Quick introductions are made and you take your seats.
The lights dim and a hush falls over the crowd. A second later, a spotlight illuminates a lithe, elven figure sitting in a silver hoop, suspended above the center ring by silk ropes. The elf wears a dazzling suit of diamond-pane mirrors and a pair of butterfly wings. His scepter is topped with a spinning vane.
“Welcome, one and all, to this evening’s extravaganza! I am Mister Light. Prepare to be delighted!”
The extravaganza involves several of the carnival’s star performers and attractions, with Mister Light serving as ringmaster. Over the course of an hour, Burly the bugbear performs feats of strength, Palasha the mermaid serenades the audience from a clamshell bathing pool, Candlefoot the mime plays silent games with audience members, and faerie dragons with bright streamers tied to their tails perform dazzling acts of synchronized flying as a troupe of acrobats, clowns, and fire-breathers parade about.
Near the end of the show, Mister Light asks if any guests would like to perform their own acts for the crowd.
Any character who accepts the offer can woo spectators with a DC 14 Charisma (Performance) check. Go ahead and describe what you do and make the roll. If more than one of you take advantage, I will treat it as a group check, but success will have a bigger impact. Feel free to discuss in OOC if you like, or just post individual attempts and I will consolidate.

Brenviel does not want to go out in front of that crowd all on their own, but is eager to demonstrate their usefulness to this new group of acquaintances. They offer to the others “I don’t know about acting or acrobatics at all, but if one of you has a skill to perform, I can transmute the floor out there to add a colorful pattern beneath you? The acts that got the most applause before seemed to have… VERY loud colors and decorations. I think it’s called ‘pizzazz’?”
personally, Brenviel had spent most of their attention trying to determine which aspects of each act were facilitated by magic and which used clever mechanical tricks. But always, always, a portion of their brain had been observing the behaviors of folks around them, filtering through and adding to their mental catalogue of “how to act normal”.
OOC: if their companions express interest, Brenviel would use the Mold Earth cantrip to make a colorful pattern on the dirt of the circus ring wherever their group goes up to perform. Brenviel would hang back by the edge of the ring and watch the crowd watching the performance (not participate in a performance themselves)
Marwan goes inside the big top once the show is being prepared, he waves to Xivros, then motions to Robin to follow him, and moves himself to sit next to him when he spots them, "I Heard from Burly that his brother left willingly; Apparently, he plans to return, that's about all the information that I gathered, Seems like it was a dead-end, unfortunately, what about you?" he notes, in a hushed whisper so as not to disturb the show if it begins. He scans the crowd to see if there are any frog people, as rumoured earlier, or Kenku, they did see one earlier, at the dragonfly area, so he has reason to be on the lookout. Perception: 10 gamelog
apologies, I must have gotten busy!
once the show begins, Marwan watches, and gives some claps, when offered to perform, he will give a performance of a classic song of heroism, playing on his lute. Performance: 13 gamelog he will use some instances of Minor Illusion to give the performance some special effects.
Xiv had come to watch a show, not be one, but if the others wanted to, he was game. "Ah been known to cut a rug or two now and then. Especially if ah have a parter." He gives the doublewinged fairy a cheeky grin and twitches his eyebrows up.
Xivros stands a little over six feet with thick, wavy blond hair and could be considered handsome in a boyish sort of way.
Robin's pokerface doesn't waver but she' puts her index fingers to the corners of her mouth and literally forces a smile before she answers Xiv.
"I'm game. You can call me Robin. Walk into the ring and ask me loudly if I'm a good dancer, then I'll answer with a joke. Pause in the dance once in a while. I'll ask you a question, you ask something like "Who was it?" or "What happened" as appropriate to the question and I'll respond with another joke. Ready when you are."
"You two have fun, I suppose, Your new elf friend and I can discuss what you learnt in your investigation," Marwan notes, looking at Brenviel "If you wouldn't mind."

The man in grey did as Robin directed, moving to where they could be seen and in a loud voice asked, “Hey there, Robin. Are you a good dancer?”
He offers her his hand and leads her in a fairly well known jig, locally at least. He has the tune in his head but has faith that the musicians in the pit will pick up the beat and play something that fits well enough. And he trusts his straight-faced partner, ready to set up her jokes as requested.
Robin walks up to the Grey man and says "Why, some say I'm very..." She hovers up to take his hand. "...Light on my feet". She continues hovering as he swings and sways to the jig.
At the first pause she asks "Hey Gray! Did you hear what happened when the happy firefly and the perfectionist painting dragon backed into a gelationous cube?"
(performance 6. Oh well. They say puns are good when they're bad)
'Ah don't think I did. What did they say, Ms. Robin?" If her delivery was a little shakey, Xivros didn't seem to notice or care. He was grinning and hamming it up.
That was two failed checks and no successes. However, due to the magical effects used, I am going to give you advantage, meaning you can each make a second roll. But with two rolls, you will have to have two successes. Good luck!

@fuzzfoot OOC: I think my performance check was a success? I rolled a 15 (post #244). I'm not dancing with Xiv & Robin, but would use Mold Earth cantrip to make a colorful pattern in the ground underneath their feet, increasing the 'showiness' of the dance act. Should I also roll again a second time?
Xivros thought Robin's joke was funny and gave a hearty laugh as he twirled her away at the end of the song letting her flutter back to her seat. "Well said, Ms Robin."
((ooc Xiv's roll was a 17, but the gamelog is doing that thing where it's empty so maybe it didn't show. I can roll again with adv if you need.))
Second Performance was a 9, Brenivel, did you do a performance roll or just a charisma check, cause there's a difference, you said charisma check in your roll.
"Good performance, I'd say." Marwan notes, upon Xivros' return, being polite.

oops, sorry I did a charisma check initially. my charisma & performance modifiers are identical so I don't know if it makes a difference. But I did reroll just now specifically for Performance and got a natural 20 :)so, there's that!

Yes, I missed that completely! OK, that, plus the new rolls, means a successful performance!
The crowd roars as you perform, bits of magic and talent providing a wonderful bit of theatre that really strikes a positive cord. After the performance ends, the people begin leaving the tent and it is clear the general mood of the crowd is excellent.
Burly approaches you. For those that haven't met him yet, he is wearing dungarees, fairy wings, and a helmet made from a jack-o’-lantern. “Follow me,” he growls. “Management wants to see you.”
I am assuming you will accept the invitation, and since I am travelling until Monday, I may not get another chance to post much. If for some reason you object, we can back up a step.
With a wave of his hand, Burly creates an opening in the wall of thorns that surrounds the staff wagons and leads you through it. I
If questioned about the nature of the meeting, Burly insists there’s nothing to worry about.
"Not to worry. The bosses are in high spirits." bosses are in high spirits."
The bugbear leads you to a circle of wagons. Leaning against a particularly ostentatious wagon is an aging clown with a painted grin. He puffs on a bubble pipe and glares at you as the bugbear, ignoring the clown, opens the wagon’s door and ushers you inside.
A flamboyant elf grins from ear to ear as he welcomes you into the wagon with a theatrical bow. “Please come in, it’s a delight to meet you all! I am Mister Light, and this is my associate, Mister Witch.”
He gestures to a stocky elf lounging on a bunk. Mister Witch nods to you and doffs his top hat. Mister Light gestures toward his scepter and explains that it picks up every nuance of emotion in the carnival.
Mr. Light expresses his gratitude for the cheer that the characters have brought to the carnival so far. "My friends, you have done much today to help make everyone's day grander. What brings you to the carnival on this day?"
