Starker: “I don’t know about the rest of you, but before we confront a dragon I would like a nice long rest. Unfortunately, I realize that that would allow the green dragon to rest, too. If no one else needs a rest perhaps I can contribute with Tolling the Dead as often as I am able. But my capacity to cast more puissant spells is nearly depleted.
”Ajax, no one appreciates snarky humor more than I do, but there is a time and place for everything. Upon the answer to Chadwick’s question depends many decisions, such as whether, when, and where to rest. If you are a good helpful guide we will give you another shiny object for your nascent horde.”
And I recommend considering the protection from poison for Kragen’s prepped list if we do long rest. I think even a young dragon could 1 shot a lot of us with a little bad luck.
I guess we will need to wait to see where it is encountered. But anything to hamstring its flight would be good. That is always a massive imbalance against us.
Chadwick doesn't have the option of protection from poison BTW, but he can heal it.
"We also need to figure out how to return these infants to their parents. Crow, how far away is the place you stole these babies from? Are they from this plane, or ours?"
If you are a good helpful guide we will give you another shiny object for your nascent horde.”
You have the fairy dragon’s attention. He snaps his head around to Starker, “I can take you. Very dangerous. It will take a day or two, depending on the drift.”
“And would someone from This land care and protect them while we go and parlay with the Dragon?” “That is the condition we require!”, “the children must not be harmed and well cared for, Crow!”
Kragen frowning at this being’s noncommittal attitude, turns to other fey in the area. “Who of you would be willing to care for these children while we parlay with Baleflumonex?”, “these children have been torn from their home to appease the evil that manifests this realm.” “This is an injustice that needs rectified when we return to our realm. Until then, we require your support!” “Who among you is willing to assist?”
None of the fey seem all that moved by Kragen's speech.
Once of the Leprechaun's does walk up to Kragen, "What injustice are you talking about, dwarf?"
Crow turns to Gneuman, "None of these folk owe your group much of anything, really. In fact, you are part of the problem that ruined the ceremony." He spreads his hands, "Now, the dragon is a much bigger problem. That is for sure."
You do notice a pair of brownies and a pixie around the sack o' babies. The babies are cooing at them as little fireflies of light dance around their heads.
Chadwick walks over to the babies and picks them up. He chats with sweetly then starts signing a lullaby. Not so subtlety keeping an eye on any fey getting too close.
The brownies and pixie scatter as Chadwick approaches. The colored motes disappear with the fey. The babies start acting fussy after he picks them up. His singing is not helping.
Yet that is supposed to be a strength?! A strength isn’t random, like using die. That’s were D&D loses some of its realism in applying rules. You don’t just randomly forget an ability you have acquired over time??

Ajax responds to Chadwick with his ever present grin, "Why, that depends upon who's foot."

A short rest at least would help Trolkarl

“Good question Chadwick, we need to secure the children’s safety either with their parents or with a caretaker before progressing on.”
Starker, hopefully: “… or …”

“Stole is a strong description. More like found unattended,” Crow responds. “I believe the city name was Luskan. Seaside town.”
“Crow, how long would it take you to return them? To their owners in Luskan?”
to the others “if it’s a days time, we could complete a long rest and I can pray to Tyr and prepare my spells.”
“The journey is several days. IF the portal can be accessed,” he replies to Kragen. “It is not always available.”
“And how do you know when the portal is open?”
“When you get there,” he states. “That is why I was late to There for the ceremony. The portal was not open.”
“And would someone from This land care and protect them while we go and parlay with the Dragon?” “That is the condition we require!”, “the children must not be harmed and well cared for, Crow!”
The Crow tilts his head, “I cannot answer that.” He looks about at the fey nearby, “Perhaps you can ask them.”
