Sounds good, though I like to think of it as ‘our’ hit job, as another thread in the rich tapestry depicting our party’s journey to world shiverring notoriety.
Our heroes six depart the snug accommodations of their mountain chalet. It is a beautiful alpine morning. The sun brilliantly flares from the snow capped peaks. Verdant forest cascades down the mountainsides to vales with recently melted water coursing through in softly rushing, crystal clear water. The small animals of the forest, oblivious to the intent of the travelers, caper about the flower dappled grasses. Songbirds fill the air as they flit from perch to perch in search of seeds and sweet berries. Ajax is flying about, enjoying the warmth and exploring the sun-dappled groves as the group continues their march south, out of the mountains. Murder is on their minds.
The journey from the high mountains seems shorter as you initially travel south from Granitestead. Despite the danger that you know firsthand lives here, it would be a beautiful place to live. Several nights pass and you get to the lower mountains and begin to journey east to meet up with the Bright River. You will follow this south to Shalecliff. The day that you approach most closely to Rastagna's Tower is cooler and overcast. A good location for camp is found and you set up for the night. The animals are tethered and a fire lit for warmth.

Strike that morbid thought (maybe not for Starker as he's psychotic). "Justice is on their minds as they seek to understand why Evil Drow would seek to harm their compatriot (Trolkarl)!"

Trolkarl has hired a young dwarf to accompany you on your journeys. Gohumbee is an eager young dwarf hoping to find adventure and tales to tell of exploits he participates in with you. He is a warrior hoping to hone his skills as he serves Trolkarl.
Gohumbee has secured all of the horses and mules for the night. They animals are fed and watered at the stream by your campsite. A warm fire is lit and crackles as the dry wood is consumed by the flames. "The animals seem to be restless tonight," Gohumbee remarks as he comes to the fire after getting them tethered for the night. "Not sure why they are acting like this."
Hoid says, “Gohumbee, thank you for your observation about the animals. It is hard to tell why the animals are restless. It could be our proximity to an impenetrable tower that houses an unknown evil presence or it could be the stench of the dead dragon we killed in a cavern under the tower weeks ago. Or it could be something else. We should be particularly vigilant tonight. Perhaps double watches are warranted.”
On this last day of travel Chadwick says something seems different. Growing up on the farm he has a sense when something natural has changed. He cannot put his finger on it. But, the animals and plant life seem to be less verdant and there is a gloom about, even during the day.
I think doubling the guard is a good idea. Chadwick shares the command word(s) for the Driftglobe so anyone on guard duty can activate it in case of danger.
Hoid says, “Gohumbee, do you have a silvered weapon? If not, take my dagger before we try to get some rest. I would regret for us to be ambushed in the night by something immune to mundane weapons and you be forced to sit aside.”
Chadwick seems delighted to be out of town and riding his new celestial warhorse. He'll talk to anyone he can for an annoyingly long time about about smart and beautiful she (Freya) is. He claims the horse can not only understand him, but they are telepathically linked. Nobody really challenges him on this for fear of extending the conversation.
He'll goes galloping off at random times yelling and whooping while he does. He also is enjoying practicing his lance work by snapping off low hanging branches when he goes sprinting off.
While making camp he doesn't tie up or hobble her, but leaves her untethered to better protect the other mounts.
Chadwick does a passage past Hoid and in a very mature and sophisticated paladin way blows a raspberry.
He then wheels around and says "I know, I know, and my old sergeants would flay me for it, but I've dreamed of having my own warhorse since pretending to be a knight while riding our old mule when I was six."
Passage
A very collected, exaggerated slow motion trot. The passage is characterized by a pronounced engagement of the quarters, a more accentuated flexion of the knees and hocks, and the graceful elasticity of the movement.
Anyone and everyone is welcome to the books I am toting for the party. Is there a mechanic whereby it needs to be transferred?
Anyone can add them to inventory. I have them in Hoid’s saddle bags so I can look at them if need be. Not that Hoid reads.
Same
Any other actions in Granitestead?
Plans to depart and destination?
Let’s head to Shalecliff and see if we can get a look at the mine. If that bears no fruit, we can work on Starker’s hit job.
I second that!

The young dwarf's eyes get large as Hoid addresses him. He nods and puts the dagger into his belt.

The camp is set up and watches are selected: Chadwick & Gneuman, followed by Hoid and Kragen and last watch by Starker & Trolkarl with Gohumbee.
