Starker:”I apologize. It is taking me longer than I thought to learn to optimize interaction this curious artifact. Perhaps … ‘Would my colleagues and I benefit more from prolonging our sojourn here on Braj or from returning to Faerin as soon as possible?”
“Given our various tranches of unfinished business, my slight preference would be to head to Trokarl’s family manse and take revenge on the person or people who hired the necromancer who almost killed me with acid arrows.”
“Given our various tranches of unfinished business, my slight preference would be to head to Trokarl’s family manse and take revenge on the person or people who hired the necromancer who almost killed me with acid arrows.”
Mallinora joins you at the Prancing Pony for an evening meal. She sets down a pouch you find has 150 platinum coins inside, "Here is the 250g each that I promised you for successfully returning to Bral with the ship. I appreciate all that you have done for me," she says. "Repairs on the ship are completed and the cargo is loaded. Our best window for departure in late morning tomorrow. I would like to leave then. Have you all decided where I am to take you?," she then asks as she sits down to join you for the meal.
Chadwick shakes his head looking at the platinum. "You could have bought every farm in my village with less than is in that sack." He says mostly thinking out loud.
"I never pursued this path for riches or glory, just trying to do what's right and make the world a little better place, but I can see the temptation for others."
Mallinora smiles and chuckles to herself, "I figured that as soon as you got some coin in your pocket you would head straight to the Stacked Deck, Chadwick." She finishes her mug of ale and looks around at your blank stares. "The Stacked Deck is a tavern in low-town attached to an empty warehouse. For 1,000gp you can take your chances drawing from a Deck of Many Things that the owner possesses."
Starker:”I have heard of these Decks. I advise against drawing from them unless you are miserably, hopelessly, sad in your current situation and fates worse than death are preferable to drawing one more breath.”
Malliora agrees with Starker, "All true, Starker. I have seen some fabulous riches come from people taking on that risk. And some horrific fates as well." She pours another flagon of ale and moves to another topic, "I have taken on a cargo that has some sense of urgency for delivery. My preference is to deliver that first and then take you to Cormyr. I hope that is suitable for your needs as well?," she asks and looks about. "Our first destination is an island off of the Sword Coast, west of Luskan. By traditional means, it is a week or more sail from Luskan. So, I am not too worried about their pirates harassing us. If they do bother us it is always fun to watch the confusion on the other boat when a spell jammer takes the helm and maneuvers the ship against any wind powered possibility. In any event, if it gets too spicy we can just fly away."
If that would for the others, I am fine with doing this delivery first.
Milliora, do you have any estimate for when that would put us in Cormyr? I would like to inform my contact of our expected arrival.

Gives Gumby 75gp
Gumby, please get us both a couple sets of fine clothes before we leave. I don’t want to return home looking like I have been knocked in the mud by dragons, slept in caverns, and wandered the sewers of Luskan.
And treat yourself to something for your services. I had looked into the firearms, but the Giff are impolite poor salesmen.
Gohumbee returns later that day with several outfits of noble dress.
Mallinora replies to Trolkarl, "It should take us two days to reach the island. From there, I believe we can make it to the Lake of Dragons and Marsember in a single day. So, likely three days from our departure to get you to Marsember." She finishes her meal and moves to leave, "I must be off again. Final arrangements and readying the ship for departure tomorrow need done. Please be at the docks by Noon sun."
(( Any last actions to take on the Rock of Bral? Feel like taking a draw from the Deck of Many Things? Let me know and then we are off.... ))
Starker’s ready to head back Faerun. He, Cyrus, Raspy, and eMFer (Starker’s name for his newly acquired preserved MindFlayer brain) will be at the docks before noon.
The Rogue's Respite is found on one of the outlying docks at the end of low-town. She looks much better than the last time you saw her. The wood work of the upper deck is restored and the holes in the hull patched like they were never there. You can see Mallinora making final arrangements on deck. You can see her pride in the ship. The crew is moving about as well. The rigging is repaired. Sails are in place. All looks ready for departure. Your animals are being lowered into the hold as you watch. Raspy bites one of the sailors who gets too close without paying attention. He howls in pain as the other sailors laugh at him.
Mallinora greets you and welcomes you aboard, "Good day, travelers. The Rogue's Respite is ready to depart." She gestures to one of the crew, "Helton will show you to your cabins. You can stow your gear there. Oh," she sees the man emerge from the stern castle, "this is Andon, he is the pilot." Andon greets you, "Well met. I am Andon. Mallinora has told me about you and your exploits coming here. Hopefully, we will have a nice boring trip."
All is set and the Rogue's Respite casts off. Mallinora is at the helm. She tells you to watch off of the port side as you depart. She pilots the ship away from the docks and brings it around to leave the air envelope of the Rock of Bral. The other Tears of Selune glitter in the sunlight off in the distance. You come up upon another ship and recognize it as the Triumphant Treant. The treant appears healthy and the ship is being repaired by the Astral Elves. Two other ships of theirs sit off the bow and stern of their living ship. Bral is quickly left behind you as you head for the glowing sphere of Toril. A great ocean is below you with island chains and several small continents, lands you have only heard about in stories.
Mallinora and Andon trade piloting after several hours. A meal is served and the ship sets up for "night" shift. Mallinora seems to be in good spirits. She is visibly happier on the ship than when you saw her at dock. She and Andon continue to trade off pilot duties. Andon spends some of his free time on deck making observations with a hand-held telescope. He is making notations in a leather bound book as he does this. The crew seems to be efficient at their duties.
(What will the face look like in one day?)
Also, can you give me a clue about your planned destination in Faerûn, please?
🤨
“Where will the entity that is responsible for Lady Ventrix being in her current unresponsive state be at Day’s End today?”
Starker:”I apologize. It is taking me longer than I thought to learn to optimize interaction this curious artifact. Perhaps … ‘Would my colleagues and I benefit more from prolonging our sojourn here on Braj or from returning to Faerin as soon as possible?”
The fish swims around and a cloud of silt fills the orb. It then swims out of the cloud and the silt settles. The fish then goes about its business.
Starker sighs:”Perhaps next time …

Gneuman nods in agreement.

"Will defer to Trolkarl's need for expediency... it is your decision my Friend." nods to Trolkarl respectfully.

Hoid will be vigilant, with paranoia on 11.
