Turning to the group. "obvious signs of some type of ambush in that alley with some of the combatants exiting out this direction." "Scampus is unnerved and recommends we exit however i am loathe to allow other Luskanites to be set upon by the same rabble." "I observed another alley that travels north of Dogon's and parallel with Fisher street, there may be value in searching in that direction before we determine our next course of action." "What say you?"
If this was the work of goblins, it seems odd that they would be accepted roaming the streets. With all of the bias we have seen here in Luskan, it is surprising that it wouldn't have come up. Seeing that blast damage, perhaps they were hidden by magical means. It may be worthwhile to look near the sewer grates for signs, if they were trying to keep something like that out of sight.
Leading the group back the way we came, we pass back through Dogon's alley, and head north up this spur. Using keen senses and acute observations skills for similar foot prints or other abnormal conditions.
I took the liberty of moving everyone and placing us in the same order. If others have a preference, feel free to adjust the order. I am not advocating that i lead, however am willing.
Scampus led you to Dogon alley after meeting you at the Dancing Dolphin. Your investigation of the alley revealed several clues:
Boot prints along the sides of the alley out of the main traffic area that appear to be goblin in origin. They do not match Scampus’ shoes.
Two sets of stationary prints, one goblin, one larger like human, a bit further down the alley.
A goblin made war dart with blood on it, likely human. Goblin blood was splattered on the trash along the wall as well as human.
Blast damage to a wall. Trolkarl believes from a force damage spell stronger than magic missile. Erbert agrees.
The tracks exit the alley to the south and then turn to cross Fisher’s Street.
Scampus kept a lookout while you searched. As you emerged back into Fisher’s Street south of Dogon Alley he was there waiting for you across the street. He was standing near a tree and a sewer drain on the side of the street and very agitated. He instructed you to meet back at the tavern later tonight. He then leaves along Fisher’s Street the way you came.
Chadwick was unable to detect any celestials, fiends or fey in the area. The area is not Hallowed.
Investigation of the alley to the north shows no signs of the boot prints or a fight.
Turning to the group "I recommend that we retire to the Dancing Dolphin where we can examine the facts, develop our hypothesis on the events, and determine next steps." " before we leave Fisher Street, i would like to examine the sewer grate that Scampus was standing next to. Based on the prints, i would like to validate if there is evidence of the potential perpetrators came from the sewers."
I turn a head back to Fisher street, stopping to examine the sewer grate the scampus was standing by.
Investigation = 18 (assuming a roll is needed?) 'should we assume or allow you to roll if there is one needed on the less obvious skill checks?'
Erbert walks along, following the path and the trail of prints, going to the sewer grate and bending down, looking for any recent evidence of removal, replacement. “Think they are down here?” He muses to himself. He considers the evidence, thinking and writing notes from time to time. “A kidnapping? Scampus isn’t telling us something… there is more to this that what he is letting on…”
Investigation : 7. (Passive investigation 15)

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
The sun is beginning to set now. Luskan has long shadows and darkened alleyways. The business of the day is quieting down and taverns and upstairs apartments are coming to life with lamps and gathering people. You make your way south and then back to the west to the Dancing Dolphin. Passing the Throat, you see the sheep flocks being led to their corrals by the shepherds. The Dancing Dolphin has become more lively. There is a gathering crowd of sailors and dockworkers by their appearances. A few folks who appear to be travelers from their dress are also in the common room. You are able to grab an end of one of the long tables for your group to sit. Taurik is working behind the bar now, managing food coming from the kitchen and pulling draughts of ale from the barrels set up there. Two serving girls are taking care of the patrons and bringing plates of food as well as ales and beers to the tables. Shortly after you arrive one comes up to the group of you. "Taruik has a wheat ale and a brown ale set up tonight. Baked chicken or grilled sausage with cheese and bread is the meal," she says to all of you with a smile. "If you are nice," she emphasizes the last word, looking each of you in the eye, "you may find some fresh fruit come your way later." She then smiles again and asks, "how many will it be?"
She leaves your table and returns in a few minutes carrying six mugs of ale. Behind her is the other serving girl with a platter of chicken, fresh bread and some cheese. “I put a few sausages on your platter as well,” she says. “You look like you may be hungry.”
They both then head off to attend to other patrons. The room loud and lively, but is not unruly. There is conversation all around and occasional good laughs. You notice a few side-eyed glances from the other patrons. Nothing stands out as hostile that you can tell.
Next time the serving girl comes around, all will provide their individual orders. To save time and reduce unnecessary comms, can we assume that happens so all do not need to reply in the chat??
To the group "All, here is a summary of 'salient clues that were documented previously, (insert summary from DM)'." What hypothesis do we have based on those clues?"
"Appears that some combatants come from the sewer system, or there is evidence thereof" "At least we have humanoid and goblin prints"
"Persons of arcane knowledge were present and practicing."
"No defining evidence that any of the combatants were the ones that kidnapped El Capitan"
Once we talk to Scampus, I’m proposing heading into the sewers, or make any necessary preparations and head into the sewers — unless we get a better idea after the Scampus interrogation.

Scampus disappears along Fisher's street.
Searching along the alley to the north you find no signs of the boot prints you were following in Dogon Alley.

(( Thank you, Chris. Exactly how I would like skill checks done in chat. ))
The sewer grate has scraped signs like it has recently been moved. You also find a partial boot print that Gneuman identified as goblins.
Chadwick
We could also stake out the alley and if they pop back up tonight we could nab them for questioning. Assuming someone could talk to them.
Should we discuss that option back at the dancing dolphin and after we here more from Scampus?
We should talk to Scampus, although his avatar looks entirely untrustworthy.
As for questioning goblins, I believe my axe is fluent.

Chicken for me and brown ale, please. I’m sure the others will join me.
