"Well, it looks like you have this one tames for sure. I think I better head back to my brother" says Toren and then he turns and heads back to the fire.
With the spell cast the man in red robes goes back to his journal and busies himself with writing. The darkness seems not to bother him as he does not light a candle or a torch for more light.
At times he looks up at the horizon towards the north as if he was expecting something to happen though there is no discernable changes that can be seen.
Ixsas bids good-night to Bay and finds gathers the others to go to Zeds and coordinate the watch rotation for tonight. He assumes that they haven't made it out of the Fields of the Dead yet, and there may be more trouble tonight.
Ixsas mentions what he learned: "Toren and Bay. The two brothers whom I healed last week? Toren seems troubled after the fight of last night. Bay said that Toren has always had vivid dreams, and I sense that he'd do what he must to protect his brother. But he didn't seem to know anything about the undead, and I don't think that he would betray the caravan. It could just be that they were frightened by the terror of last night's undead. Did anyone else hear of anyone with a suspicious or secret background or with plans that depend on some mysterious benefactor?"
"I don't know much about any benefactors but I think we all are a bit troubled after the fight last night," Zeds says after being pulled away from his watch on the red one. "I been keeping an eye on the robed one and his pal. He cast some kind of spell a bit ago... The air around his left hand kind of shimmied and distorted or something, and then a moment later it was scattered to the evening breeze as if it was less than smoke. I was watching to see if I could tell any effects from whatever it may have been but I saw nothing else..."
"I met with Yara and Elara," Serge offers. "A sweet couple. Whatever is happening here, they don't have anything to do with it. They did offer to cut us a deal on any tools or blankets we might wish to purchase, in thanks for our efforts against the Hellriders."
He narrows his eyes in thought as Zeds describes the spell he witnessed. "It isn't anything I recognize. It could have been almost anything, if there was no immediate, practical effect. Some sort of abjuration spell to protect himself, or perhaps some form of divination. He may have been telling his own fortune, or predicting tomorrow's weather."
"Or summoning a horde of undead souls to devour us..." Serge says grimly, before cracking a smile. "Honestly, it could have been something quite benign. What was he doing when he cast it? Perhaps that will offer us a clue."

Hm. Ixsas knows about Kossuth's type of fire magic and various divine abjuration, enchantment, and divination spells, but I'm not sure whether he'd recognize the red-robed man's spell from Zeds's description. Arcana: 18
Ixsas suggests that since the red-robed man seems to be after Krackle's ring, they should make sure to keep watch on Krackle to make sure that the man doesn't drug Krackle and take his ring in the night. Or conjure some helper to steal it for him.
Alternatively, perhaps, they should just pass the ring around. Whoever is on watch could wear the ring: Krackle would just have to re-attune to it in the morning.
Ixsas prefers the 4th watch so that he can see the first light of dawn.
Serge looks exhausted. "I should ask for a later watch. I've been two days on the march with no sleep between. If our safety is to rely on my keen lookout, I should try to grab a few hours of shuteye before my shift, for all our sakes."
Serge asks for 3rd watch.

"What was he doing?" Zeds repeats, "He was casting a spell, of course!" Zeds shows a wry grin though to show he's just being a smart ass.
"Let's see. I don't know if I could say exactly. He was mostly writing in a journal... That didn't seem so interesting so I didn't really take note of it too much," Zeds expands upon his answer. "I kind of recall him pausing to cast the spell. I could be wrong about that. But I guess he could have been reading the spell from the journal or something? He kept writing in that thing even after it turned dark. For all I know the spell could have just let him see in the dark..."
"I suppose I could try to steal the journal so we could investigate that... Could be a bit of trouble though if I am caught."

Ixsas says, "Yes, we may need to try something like that. But maybe we should wait until tomorrow? Perhaps this night will pass without incident, and we can all get a full night's sleep. After last night, we could use it!"

Krackle would hold on to the ring, keeping it held tightly on his hand. The small kobold would climb on top of his carriage and keep a lookout from the elevated position. Once on top of his carriage, he would hide among the bags of seed, hoping to remain hidden while he kept an eye on what was taking place around the camp...
Kracke's watch is rather quiet watch with the only sounds are the wind and crickets. Krackle sees the man in red looking around the camp for something or someone and he even checks Krackle's carriage to no avail. Nearby the fireflies light up and flit around the field in search of food.

Serge notices that Zed has nodded off, but he doesn't wake the warrior. Instead, he takes in the camp around him, looking for any sign of threat that could have been missed while Zeds was napping. Assuming there are no raiders running amok in the camp or monsters slithering about, he will take up his own watch.
Not one to feel comfortable sitting too long in one spot, Serge dons his gear and patrols the perimeter, circling the camp and watching for danger.
Perception: 7
Unfortunately, perhaps Zeds laisse Faire watchmanship was contagious, as Serge was hardly more aware of his surroundings.

Watch order
I'll let Krackle decide if he wants to hold onto the ring through the night or to pass it around.

Zeds likely fell back asleep shortly after he began his watch...
Though Zeds tried to keep an eye on the man in red he drifts back to sleep soon after starting his watch.
Serge finds Zeds asleep as he takes his turn at watch.
Serge, please roll perception and describe any other actions you wish to take during your watch.
(And besides kicking Zeds awake and berating him...)
