Coming to Sir Brighton's last request, that of explanations regarding the unusual destination, Planerunner smiles: "It's very kind of you to worry so much about me, Charlie! Do you want the truth? The deepest truth behind this journey, I believe be the will of Garl Glittergold himself... I think my sire, who has cleverly orchestrated the right twists of fate to this end, wishes me to bring some comfort to Lord Akkron, the lord of Shaded Isle - and yes, I know that it is said that he is a terrible undead, but I also know other things that not everyone knows - trust me - and above all I know that there are times when you have to let yourself be guided by faith, by the stupidity (or jokingness) of gods... because it is in any case infinitely superior to the intelligence of mortals. Just think that I have already prepared a joke to present myself well to him... Do you know the one about the lich who orders a beer? You'll see that it will certainly make him laugh and he will then be good disposed towards us!"
(As Yasmina pursued immediately I don't think she would have heatd anything about the stolen magic items.)
Slightly disappointed with her finds, Yasmina sighs and walks back to the others, removing her hood as she approaches them, giving the handsome man a curious look. "That bandit leader won't trouble anyone ever again." She says with a confident smile as she walks up to the gentleman. "My name is Yasmina but I suspect Milly already told you everything about us and then some." She says with a wink and a playful smile. "You should come with us of course, I'm sure we can find you a seat in our carriage."
"Oh, Yasmina, honey!" Duwamilly is happy to see her friend again "Did you want to settle the matter definitively? I can't rejoice in the passing of those people, even though they had taken a bad path, but if you really did this, then we should search the bodies; they will certainly have with them the magical objects they stole from Charlie! The brooch of shielding and the bag of bounty... Nothing can stop Charlie from recovering them now!"
"A pleasure to meet you as well," Charlie says, giving Yasmina a little bow. "As I just said to your friends, you may call me Charlie, though my full name is Sir Charles Brighton if you feel the need for formality. I appreciate your efforts to keep these roads safe from dangerous criminals like the ones whom we just had the misfortune of meeting."
Then he turns his attention back to Duwamilly... or Esterwll.
"Well then, Esterwll, I will do whatever I can to assist you," he says with a little smile, though you can tell that he seems a bit uncomfortable with the knowledge that his saviors are going to meet a lich. "I will be entirely honest with you... I don't know much about the undead, either in general or this particular undead lord of the Shaded Isle, but I trust your judgement and that of Garl Glittergold if you feel the need to meet him. In the meantime, I assume that you were going to the port at Tormere if you were planning to set sail. I have a home there if you need somewhere to stay while we search for a trustworthy captain."
He then turns his attention to the stolen magic items.
"Yes, if we could recover those it would be wonderful!" he says to Yasmina. "Did you happen to find them on the deceased roughens?"

Yasmina gives the gentleman a suspicious look. "Those bandits had neither a brooch nor a bag on them, and I strongly doubt they would have had the time to hide them." The red-haired half-elf says with a scrutinizing look. "So strange, how can that be would you say...Charlie?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Well, Yasmina will tell us for sure she didn't find them, so Duwamilly (or Esterwll) will roll for Insight (to understand if either Yasmina or Charlie seem to hide something), buffing herself with a Guidance just before the attempt: 9

(OOC: OK, Oberon, now tell us all about that private conversation with the DM in which you stated that you kept Charlie's items without telling us anything... 😉)
Neither Yasmina nor Esterwll notice any kind of deceit from him... in fact, he looks extremely confused. Even a little bit suspicious of Yasmina, perhaps considering the possibility that she might have pocketed the items...
"You didn't find them?" he asks with a little frown. "That doesn't make sense..."
He stops and thinks for a moment.
"But I don't know how far away their camp is, so I suppose it's possible that they could have sent someone to bring their ill-gotten gains back to their hideout. They left me on the ground there for a little over an hour while they waited for more travelers to fall into their trap, so I guess if they were camped nearby they would have had enough time."

"I suppose we could go and check out that camp then. On our way there you can tell us all about how you found yourself all alone on this road and how many bandits there were that attacked you." Yasmina says with a fir tone, still fairly suspicious even though the gentleman seems truthful in his claims. She then looks at the others to see who is coming and who is staying to watch the carriage.

"Actually, that's a question I don't have an answer to," he tells Yasmina. "Earlier today I and several other noblemen met for a fox hunt... grand time, by the way. You should really try it if you ever get the chance... but I digress, not really important. Anyway, I was actually returning from the event with two of my attendants when I suddenly realized that they weren't there any longer. It was shortly after that when I met these gentlemen..."
He stops mid-sentence as a thought occurs to him. He walks over to the four charred corpses and examines each of them closely...
"Those bastards," he says as he looks down at the dead. "They set me up! Well, Tulio and Ricardo always had a bit of an attitude, but I never imagined they would stoop to this!"
Neither Yasmina nor Esterwll notice any kind of deceit from him... in fact, he looks extremely confused. Even a little bit suspicious of Yasmina, perhaps considering the possibility that she might have pocketed the items...
Duwamilly also considers this possibility for a moment... She had a very good impression of Yasmina, but, in the course of her career as a Preceptor, she also met so many fine-looking kids who had 'dark sides'... But no , the instinctive frankness of the red-haired half-elf does not make her suspect any subterfuge. Yasmina seems no less honest than Charlie. There must be some funny life joke to discover to explain all this...
"It's so hard to get good help these days...."Yasmina says, looking over the charred corpses on the ground. "...lucklily our servant of Ilmater is swift with meting out justice for wrongdoers." She adds, glancing back at the tiefling with a wink. "And fox hunting you say? Such a lovely sport..." The red-haired half-elf continues, turning back to the gentleman. "...well, unless you're a fox of course. But I would have thought you would have a mount for that, and something to actually hunt with? I suppose your former servants took those too?" Yasmina says, looking at the gentleman with a curious smile.
"Oh, Charlie, honey, I'm so sorry..." Esterwll approaches the poor betrayed nobleman, her brown eyes look up, up, ('I really should master Levitate'...) up, with deep sweetness, seeking his "Really bad kids! They could have even caused your death... and for what? Nice objects? It's not worth it! The things you own end up owning you. But obviously," she sighs "no one must have taught them this... lack of proper education and training, is like a diseased root... it can mean the premature end of a plant that would otherwise have been a majestic tree".
“Dear Yasmina here is right; maybe you should hire a… personnel manager!” suggests the ex-Preceptor "Someone with a good instinct for people's attitudes... in this way, you could minimize the probability of hiring the wrong people again! However, one thing at a time: meanwhile we try to find your possessions - including horse and hunting equipment, if any. I also wonder what they planned to do with the magic items... did they already have a possible buyer in mind? You know, we recently came across a really nasty kid who was interested in magical objects... and who was ready to do practically anything to get them! I prescribed him a holiday which I hope has helped him to meditate, see the error of his ways, and come back as a better person, but I'm not entirely sure... I hope he isn't behind all this again".
“Anyway, regarding your invitation to fox hunting, I accept!” the gnome cleric exclaims enthusiastically "You don't even need to find me a horse, because a horse would probably perceive me as nothing more than a flea... just keep me in the saddle behind you! It will be beautiful! I can't wait! When will the next hunt be held?" her brown eyes become dreamy "I will do everything to be in Tormere by then..."
Yasmina gives the gnome interjecting herself into the conversation an incredulous look. Was she seriously flirting with this man? Now? She gives the gnome a scolding glare and whatever respect she had for the gnome vanishes from her eyes. What example was this for her students, falling over her feet over a man that they just met and only knew what he just told them. She shakes her head in disbelief, trying to understand how someone her age could posibly act so naïvely, then turning back to the gentleman. "I think Milly forgets that we are on an important mission so we will absolutely not have time for any fox hunting..." She says to the gentleman with an apologetic smile. "...right?" She says, looking down at the gnome ex-preceptor with an angry glare.
