Avery would also like to upgrade his armor, if possible, does the Arcane shop know where he might be able to get some magical plate? If not, he'll go find an armorer for some regular plate or half plate
You could pick up some magical plate or half plate from Morley . It will cost the usual armour price plus 100gp for common magic item, or 400gp extra for an uncommon mag item.
If you’re looking for something of rare or higher quality, you may need to go in a quest to get it.

At the moment, he hasn't earned enough coin yet, even if he traded in his current armor. He will still visit the Taverns and check in with the watch or any of the local mercenaries to see what rumors or information he can pick up. He may check with Morley about a potion of healing
(OOC: I didn't mention it earlier since I was waiting to see whether Aubrek comes through with the 10,000 gp for The Company (1666 gp each) and to see what we would need to pay to acquire a Bastion / headquarters.
If Xanrym has at least 400 gp left after other expenses, he'll be looking to buy a new magic item. Top picks are either:
Can Syllen or Theldrin can afford a spell slot (or a spell scroll) to cast [spells]Darkvision[/spell] on Xanrym when needed? If not, this item is a priority for Xanrym.
With his Cloak of Elvenkind, Xanrym will make a fantastic scout at level 5. He'll have a +9 and advantage on Stealth checks. About 75% of the time, his stealth check be 20 or higher, and enemies will have disadvantage to spot him.
But without Darkvision, he won't be able to scout effectively in areas of complete Darkness. It wasn't a problem on the Emperor of the Waves, but we ran into this problem in the naga's lair. It's hard to sneak up on troglodytes in the dark when you're carrying a lantern!
Ok so let’s go through a few things while your characters spend a few months in Greyhawk. As for magic items, you should be able to find all the rules for making and crafting them in the PHB. Xanrym, Avery, and Coriana can afford to buy the magic items they want from Morley at Unearthed Arcana, the old man is as friendly as ever. Also, you all go up to Level5.
Xanrym hangs out at the High Tower Inn for just over a week, spending his time between there and the Temple of Fharlanghn. While he does see a couple members of the Circle of Eight, the real interesting part is when Vathroc arrives with 10,000gp for you all in crisp gold bars. When Xanrym asks him to talk to Aubrek about buying houses, he gruffly agrees to pass on the message.
A large contingent of you spend a lot of the time at The Black Dragon Inn, where you see many colourful and strange people coming in and out. Coriana is able to carouse and get into small amounts of trouble, while also getting some prices on boats (Probably too expensive for now but get in touch with me if you want a breakdown of prices). Avery chats to many of his mercenary mates and puts out some feelers to get back in touch with the Knights of the Watch. Syllen spends a lot of his time outside the walls of the city, helping local farming communities with irrigation and generally making a good name for himself and The Company
Some of you also get to have some time investigating and studying different topics at the Great Library of Greyhawk and beyond. Khessa has little luck finding anything about the Drow or Lolth, with some help from Xanrym, they do pick up some rumours of Drow being seen over in the Hellfurnaces to the west of Old Keoland. Xanrym is able to confirm that the demons and monsters you discovered on the Emperor of the Waves were in fact servants of Lolth. Theldrin finds out some interesting information about the Kraken you saw. Apparently, while the beast certainly did seem to be a proper Kraken from legend, it was in fact smaller than those Kraken. Perhaps some kind of juvenile.
Aubrek invites Xanrym to his office, which is now located in a very nice office building in Clerkberk, and Aubrek seems to be dressed far finer than he was before. He greets you fairly warmly, and announces that he has found three fine houses well within your budget. One is the small townhouse in the River Quarter he has just moved out of. The second is a shopfront with a house at the back in the Artisan’s Quarter, a slightly slumier part of the city. The final house he offers you is a manor house just outside the city walls, with space to build extensions on and plenty of space for gardens and such.
Which house do y’all think you want to possibly buy?
(OOC: I forgot to mention that Syllen would ask if there is a local druid circle that helps the farmers when he interacts with them or see if Syllen can tell if the farms in this area are under the spell Plant Growth. Also in my post I mentioned that Syllen would ritual cast find plants to search for wild plants he could use to craft potions(mostly healing potions). Did he happen to find anything?)
(OOC: If anyone gave Syllen 25 gold for supplies he would have crafted a level 1 spell scroll or healing potion for that person. As a reminder Syllen gave things he crafted to everyone with the supplies he got himself. I will list them below.
Avrey: healing potion
Coriana: healing potion
Khessa: healing potion
Theldrin: healing potion and level 2 spell scroll(Flaming Sphere)
Xanrym: after his suggestion Syllen decided to make a level 1 spell scroll(Faerie Fire) with his supplies and give it to Xanrym)
(OOC: I don't know if there is an ability check for adding spells from spell scrolls to Theldrin’s spell book but if there is, Syllen would have stayed with Theldrin as he did it and kept him under the guidance spell.)
When the group meets up after having taken the time needed for them to increase their power(got to level 5) Syllen seems far more excited then normal. When asked he just talks about how he finally was able to create a strong bond with nature.
“Which house do y’all think you want to possibly buy?”
Syllen would want to know if there are price differences between the options. If possible he would want to still have 600 gold after everything is said and done. He does not have strong opinions on any of the options but if he orders each of them best to worst.
Ok so let’s go through a few things while your characters spend a few months in Greyhawk.
(OOC: Yikes! Do I need to deduct 90 days of "living expenses," or was Xanrym able to earn his keep by performing at inns around the Free City?)
Xanrym, Avery, and Coriana can afford to buy the magic items they want...
(OOC: Well, that depends how much it costs for us to acquire our house / Bastion. I guess we'll deduct that from the 10,000 gp first.)
the real interesting part is when Vathroc arrives with 10,000gp for you all in crisp gold bars....

Xanrym rates them the same as Syllen:
manor house outside city
Shopfront
Townhouse
(OOC: If you're interested in trying out the Bastion rules, the major house gives us room to expand and build some garden facilities. Alternatively, if we get a place attached to a shop, maybe we can eventually purchase the shop to generate some passive income for downtime living expenses.)
Xanrym: after his suggestion Syllen decided to make a level 1 spell scroll(Faerie Fire) with his supplies and give it to Xanrym)
(OOC: I'll post some thoughts on Xanrym's prepared spells with the level 5 bump later. If he swaps out Heroism for Faerie Fire, then he may request a scroll of Charm Person instead.)
Coriana will be very unhappy any plan that leaves her without an immediate payout of 455 more gold. She will threaten to leave if she doesn't see 55 gold.
She will strongly suggest the house and shopfront (Am I correct that this is the whole building, shop area and all?), as it keeps us in the thick of the city and a clean separation or residence and business. She would definitely choose the manor house next for space availability, and will be persuaded to support if she is outvoted. The townhouse is her last choice.

Her new level will be a Wizard level; since she gains access to 2nd level spells, she will probably copy some spell from Theldrin, if enough money are available after buying the building.
Re: copying the spell from a scroll, I believe there is an Arcana check with a DC equal to 10 plus the spell’s level. In any case for now Theldrin likes the idea of having the scroll on hand so he can cast another 2nd level spell if needed, without using a spell slot.
For the house, he would want to know the cost and his main concern about the manor is if it would be a secure location when the party isn't around, being located outside the city walls. Other than that he likes the idea, though he seems to see pros and cons to each option.
Syllen would be able to find potion ingredients. The shopfront is both the shop and the house out back. All of these houses cost 2,500gp. But Aubrek could arrange for all of them to go rent-to-buy until you have the money to cover it easily. Also, the money you pay in rent will go toward the final house price, so your living expenses will be deducted from the total house price.
Given the amount of downtime how many extra healing potions could Syllen make with the ingredients he found? Also did he find out the information he was looking for about the Druid Circle or Plant Growth?
Sorry I think I misunderstood. Were you hoping to find ingredients to make Healing Potions for free? That would definitely be a DC 20 Nature or Survival check and you'd only be able to find enough plants to make 1 Potion of Healing. As for Druid's or the like in the area around the city, no, all these crops seem to be harvested naturally without the help of local Druids. However, the Gnarley Forrest is not too far from the city, and there are rumours of it housing Druids.

Can I get advantage on the Survival check because Syllen will be casting the spell Locate Plants to help look.
Avery will look to find some good rumors, speaking with the Watch and with other mercenaries in local taverns.
Just running a couple downtime activities with people in private. I’ll come back to this thread in a couple days.
