"We are certainly making some assumptions here," Theldrin frowns as he gazes out at the street through a crack in a dirty, shuttered window. He adds with a sigh, "Though I suspect they may indeed be correct."
If there are no strangers close enough to hear, Xanrym speaks softly, his voice coming from somewhere just behind Coriana as he puts a hand on her shoulder. "I'm here. Try to move him somewhere private before he comes to."
"This is Xanrym's play. I neither chased the drow or set fire to the drop box. Is he even here?"
Xanrym's voice again, in the room with you, but positioned a few feet behind Irennaste: "Yes, I'm here, but I'd prefer that he not 'see' me. If House Dusklorn is truly trying to have us killed, the less we reveal, the better. Let me know when he's recovered enough to talk. I wasn't trying to hurt him; just catch up to him to have a conversation. We should ask him whose names he was trying to give to The Guild. Khessa, is it true that you were able to burn the note? That was very quick thinking!"
Avery will look around the inn, anything that could be a potential threat. Perception: 21
Xanrym sees Avery watching outside and confirms: "Avery, you'll let us know if you see anyone watching this building? Or anyone headed this way? Good man! We don't want to get trapped here."
"We are certainly making some assumptions here," Theldrin frowns as he gazes out at the street through a crack in a dirty, shuttered window. He adds with a sigh, "Though I suspect they may indeed be correct."
Xanrym invisibly nods in agreement, both about the assumptions and that the assumptions are probably true. But they need to talk to Irennaste to determine both how things stand between The Company and House Dusklorn and whether they can somehow use Irennaste as an asset in the job that Es Sarch gave them.
"The drop box with no obvious means of retrieving the notes. You did do something to rule out it being a magical portal where the letters are in the Guild's hands immediately, right?"

"I did the best I could in those moments to prevent the assassins from receiving a message that had a very good chance of pinning us as targets" Khessa shrugs. "I have no idea how widespread magic is here in Pedestal. If the mailbox was ordinary, the letter is now ashes. If it was a magical portal where the letter was teleported elsewhere, I can only hope the burning oil was teleported as well and had time to burn the letter anyway. Otherwise, we'll still be no worse off than if we hadn't even tried."
"So the plan is to interrogate Mr. Sleeping Beauty" the blonde arcane warrior sighs. "We can try, but I doubt he'll tell us much, if we just ask him questions nicely... Look at what his matron has done to him. What do you think she'll do to him if he reveals something to us? I fear that to get him to talk, we'd have to torture him to the point where he's more afraid of us than of his matron—no easy feat even if we wanted to try."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
