(Assuming that those were the AoO as bear-Liarin tried to get away.)
Xanrym says, "Good job, Theldrin!" He loads a bolt into his crossbow and shoots at one of the evil coins, hoping to destroy it before it can get close to the party again.
Xanrym notices that Avery is on the ground and not moving after the two mimics ganged up on him. Liarin also dropped out of her bear form, still bearing her injury from earlier. He refuses to believe that their story ends here in this dank hallway. He calls on the gods to heal Avery, twisting the threads of magic to heal Liarin, too. As they revive, he says, "Look out! Two of those demon coins remain!"
Movement: Move forward, if needed, to position himself just behind Avery. He wants to be close if the fighter needs help or wants to fall back behind him. (Perhaps by the grace of Merikka, Xanrym has not be injured since entering the temple.) Action: Attack the mimic that looks the least injured, Crossbow, Light (80/320): 7, Damage: 4 Bonus Action: Cast spell (LVL 1 slot) Healing Word at Avery, Healing: 4 Twin spell (1 metamagic point) to affect Liarin, Healing: 6 Free Action: Talking, Item interaction - loading crossbow
Shaking the cobwebs out of his head, Avery gets off the ground and get as much distance as he can from the mimic. "My thanks for the healing, rather touch and go there for the moment," he thanks though panting from the injuries.
Liarin, extricates herself from combat with the mimics and puts as much distance between her and them as she can. She mumbles in sylvan and heals herself.
The final mimic doesn’t follow you down the hallway.
(OOC: Can we still see it? I know that the party is pretty beat up, but at this point, I think that we'd try to finish off the 3rd mimic from range if it's still in view. I couldn't tell whether this was a just a nice DM's way of giving the party the chance to run away before someone else suffers a deadly acidic bite. 🙂)
No you all got away fair and square. If you wanted to try to kite the mimic from afar that is a viable option. They only have a speed of 15ft so there’s no way it could catch you to be fair.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Xanrym is glad that he helped prevent Avery and Liarin from being eaten by gold coins that seem to be possessed by some evil force. But he's frustrated that he was otherwise ineffective in this fight. He fires a parting shot at the remaining coin from a distance. "Why won't you die, you deadly, shiny thing?!" (If he doesn't manage to kill it, he shuffles past Theldrin and Liarin to go through the door, saying, "Won't you please put down that vexing thing?")
Movement: If he fails to kill it, move out of the way of Theldrin and Liarin and go through the door to the south. Action: Attack mimic #3, Crossbow, Light (80/320): 14, Damage: 6 Free Action: Talking
The last mimic explodes into purple goo as it’s hit by both Xanrym’s arrow and the firebolt. The hallway is quiet now and your free to grab the contents of the chest before heading out of the cellar.

Xanrym laughs nervously and says, "I hope that's the end of that! Theldrin, maybe you should check that garnet again -- the one you picked up earlier? -- to make sure that it hasn't sprouted teeth too." The suggestion sounds like a joke, but Xanrym's tone is half-serious. Seeing the purple goo, he asks, "I guess it wasn't really a curse on the treasure, was it? What do you think those things were? Some sort of shape-changing creature that was put here to protect the real treasure?"
Xanrym is still worried that there might be more of them and eyes the treasure chest suspiciously. Xanrym suggests that they have Liarin create bonfire around the chest or any other scattered coins that are lying around. Or at least have Theldrin throw a fire bolt at them. He explains, "I'd rather pick up a slightly-singed treasure chest than risk a bite from another one of those things!"
free to grab the contents of the chest before heading out of the cellar.
Assuming that there's no more drama with the treasure chest, Xanrym helps gather up the treasure.
While they gather the treasure, Xanrym has a serious question about their next steps. He starts by saying, "We came here first because we wanted to investigate before anyone in the temple learned that we killed Misha, but from what we've seen here, everyone in the temple must either be a member of this naga cult or one of its prisoners. On the other hand, we don't really have anything that we can take back to the Mayor or the people or Orlane to prove to them that their temple has been taken over by a cult. I thought that maybe we'd find Abramo or some other priest being held captive somewhere in the temple. Or maybe some written plan or other signs of the temple's corruption. If we could bring something out that proves that the temple has been taken by the cultists, maybe we could get the Orlaners to believe that we didn't just kill their beloved priestess of Merikka."
"I also hoped that we might find a map that would show us where to find the actual naga behind this cult," Xanrym says. He pauses and looks over Liarin and especially Avery before continuing: "But how is everyone feeling after that last fight? Those creatures that were disguised as coins were ferocious and put up quite a fight. We survived, but they depleted some of our magical power. If we had to fight our way through the rest of the temple, does everyone feel capable of fighting on? I could heal one -- maybe two -- of you, but that's as much as I'll be able to do today, and we also have 2 healing potions left, I think. Do we press on? Or just try to get out of here and return tomorrow?"
While everyone thinks how to answer, Xanrym mentions one possibility, "Those shape-shifted coins reminded me of the spell scroll we found. I was thinking that if no one has told the temple about Misha, I could use that scroll to disguise myself as her. I don't know how well I could mimic her voice, but maybe well enough to get past a guard or to order some of the cultists into the basement level where we might be able to trap them. I do not think that the disguise would hold up well enough to get the rest of you much further into the temple."

You search the treasure chest without any more issues. In total the chest contains:
196gp, 320sp, 247cp, as well as 10 gems: Banded Agatex4, Blue Quartzx3, Tiger Eye, Azurite, and Malachite.
We'll take the whole chest with us when we return up to the 1st floor of the temple.
(OOC: I've added this treasure to Xanrym's sheet with our other "undivided treasure" under Other Possessions on his inventory.)
