Unless anyone wants to burn a spell slot. I’ll ritually cast detect magic to see if anything pops on any of the goblins and suggest we have ppl keep watch for other attacks while we search bodies of everyone.
do we think that their armor /weapons are worth anything (and even if worth something) do we have ability to carry with us?
also do we want to clean up and move bodies ? how is everyone health?
“I have some rope in my backpack here; we could tie these surviving goblins and wait for them to wake up,” Darbakh says. “They might know if there are others hiding around. In fact…you know, if you detect magic, you might be able to tell if they’re lying. You know, detect magic first, then ask them about it as a test. What do you think?”
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Darbakh’s initiative roll: 18
Initially, Darbakh’s owl lands on the ground in the path of the walking trees and puffs its chest out. “Get out of the way, you fool!” the duergar orders his owl.
Smudge quickly decides that grumpy moving trees are unlikely to be friendly, so says with a surprisingly loud and firm voice, "Burn with the power of Tymora!"
OOC: He cast Scorching Ray. For his three rays, he aims first at Twig A then Twig B if it is clear his first target is toast (ha!).
((Ooc. Likely very little chance to see if these trees were simply hunting the goblins who attacked us)
I move over to where the goblins are and move them over in front of the (remaining ) tree’s path and say first in elvish then in common
”we are hunting the same enemy, these goblins that destroy your trees”.
(do we think any chance the smaller trees could be alive after the initial attack on them ? Will likely need a nature check as well? Wondering if a cure wounds would help them? )
making a persuasion roll first on my (hopeful chat /yell with the large tree then nature roll -likely for my next turns action
Persuasion roll if needed (a useless) 7
and an equally useless nature roll of 9 for next turn
and assume this and next turn are consumed with that

First ray: 4+6=10
Second ray: 14+6=20, damage 7
Third ray: 17+6=23, damage 8
The first ray misses the twigling A while the second ray torches the creature to ashes being vulnerable to fire you hear the twigs scream as they roast and crumble.
The third ray hist Twigling B saw the same fate being burned to a crisp before it even new what was going on you hear the twigs scream as they roast and crumble.

You see Smudge's rays make burnt kindling out of the two twig blights and the Awaken tree now looks to be more enraged with the party.
Your attempt at persuasion falls on deaf ears and your nature roll is adequate to see it's not happy and doesn't care about any of you most likely.
You are 30ft from the Awaken tree. Smudge is 5ft in front and to the north of you. Putnan and the two goblins are in front of you 10 ft to Putnan and 15ft to the goblins. Ral is 5ft to your southwest chomping at the bit.

Willing to try anything.
there is also possibility. No magic, even if is magic -no one alive knows its magic or what boss has. Or they know and lie
Smudge, a bit out of breath, explains, “I went back for my handkerchief. Wow, wha, wha, wha, what a mess with these goblins! Ate any of you hurt?”
Everyone starts to check out the scene and wonder what to do with the Goblins and Darbakh start to ritual cast Detect magic with Smudge comes running.
1min into the ritual you hear the forest sound as leaves are rustling and getting closer.
To the West you see a big tree and 2 small twigs 30 ft away emerging from the forest.
Roll init please.

The two Goblins start to wake up.
OOC - I don't think anyone said they tied them up. Just that you had rope and were considering it.
I will allow it this time if so but not the next time.

Your attempt at persuasion falls on deaf ears and your nature roll is adequate to see it's not happy and doesn't care about any of you most likely.
Skill checks are not actions for 5e Skill checks are not actions in 5e, but you can call for a specific action and have the player roll a check if necessary. The only ability checks that are listed as an action in the game are Dexterity (Stealth) when taking the Hide action, and Wisdom (Perception) or Intelligence (Investigation) for the Search action.
Your action in this case though is to get the two goblins and move them with you up to the front to be in the path of the Awake Tree that is left.
