Varis moves across the bridge and into the armory, sparing a cautious glance over at Jorlan in conversation with Szefarian and stepping over the body of the fallen drow on the bridge. Inside the armory, he quickly searches the room for weapons, armor and any supplies that will help them survive in the Underdark.
Monar continues his run into the armoury, ignoring Jorlan on the way past. He quickly scans the room looking for anything that he can arm himself with quickly. Weapons, shield and armour, just grabbing anything that looks serviceable. He looks towards the retreating Drow to the south. "Can we cut the bridge? That'll slow them down good and proper!" shouts to Varis and Szefarian.
The drow engaged with Derendil are just within Zilly's range, and once again his cantrip is effective. He grabs the slain drow's hand crossbow and bolts and then joins Szefarian, Varis, and Monar in the small armory, which holds a variety of armor, weapons, and other equipment. The items are stored in an orderly fashion, making it a rather straightforward matter to find things. From just outside the door, Ront's voice can be heard. "Axe."
The battle axe to which the orc is referring leans against the opposite wall.
Eldethsqueezes her way into the room as well, hoping to take hold of her splint mail and axes. Likewise, Sarith waits for his opportunity, eyeing Monar suspiciously.
From the bridge, Jorlancalls, "You have less than a minute. Do not tarry."
The armory contains all of the following, in addition to the equipment that belongs to Monar, Szefarian, Varis, Zilly, Ront, Eldeth, and Sarith:
6 chain shirts
6 suits of studded leather armor
6 shields
6 hand crossbows
20 cases of hand crossbow bolts, each case containing 20 bolts
6 shortswords and 10 daggers
6 bags of caltrops
4 100-foot-long coils of silk rope
2 building hammers (not usable as weapons)
2 bags of iron spikes
(Two rounds are needed to gather one's own weapons, armor, and gear. One additional round is need to gather additional items. The spider rope bridges are constructed from multiple strands of spider silk that have been twisted together. The time to destroy the bridge will be dependent upon attack (w/ advantage) and subsequent damage rolls).
Szefarian goes first for the Orc's axe. As he passes it off, he grunts in Orcish a simple request: "Here. Wreak havoc."
He then sets aside the crossbow and begins the process of reequipping his blades, his bow, and a few other choice supplies his men had had on their person before they were ambushed. He also grabs his armor, but opts to don it later. At the very least, he removes the rags he was wearing previously, quickly redressing in his own clothes.
“You have the most power Eldrith blasts of anyone I’ve seen! Today.” Zilly tells Varis, giving him bardic inspiration for the next 10 minutes.
He will then spend two rounds equipping his gear but grabbing a suit of studded leather instead of leather armor.
Assuming battle doesn’t erupt, he will spend the next round grabbing a few extra things: Another case of hand crossbow bolts, 2 bags of caltrops, 1 bag of iron spikes, a 100ft rope and a shortsword.
Monar gathers his equipment and armour, carelessly rolling up his chainmail and stuffing it into his backpack. Taking a moment to attach his javelins to his equipment, he hefts up his shield with a grin then goes to grab one of the shortswords. Holding the sword in one hand, he makes for the southern bridge, slashing at the ropes wildly. "Quick as we can. Lets get this thing down and go!"
Varis spots his equipment laying in a pile in the armory, including the satchel containing his journal. He quickly grabs his gear, pausing an extra few seconds to take a set of studded leather as an upgrade over his original armor, a silken rope, and 2 bags of caltrops. He smirks at Zilly’s compliment “Let’s hope that you don’t have to see it again before we get out of here.” He looks over at Monar hacking against the bridge and goes to help him, hoping to gain precious time as he slashes against the web strands with his shortsword.
Szefarian passes a jagged-bladed axe to Ront, who says something incomprehensible in Orc and then turns and rushes toward the melee between Derendil and the two drow guards. Rapidly swapping out his clothes and gathering up his personal possessions, Szefarian stands ready for the next phase of the escape.
Likewise, Zilly is able to find all of his items (and a few others) after bestowing some bardic inspiration on Varis.
Monar and Varis, after finding what is theirs (and a few additional items) set to destroying the spider silk strands that hold the bridge aloft. Both of their blades slice through one of the strands, leaving one strand in tact. Crossing the bridge now will be a difficult matter, whether one is a drow or not.
Sarith, seeing Monar occupied with the bridge, steps into the armory to gather up his things. Eldeth does the same.
As all of this takes place, the sound of struggle can be heard coming from the north. The sound of alarmed drow voices, speaking in Undercommon, can be heard to the south. Reinforcements are on the way, but they are not yet within sight.
Monar and Varis can tell that one more swing from each of them will likely cause the bridge to collapse completely. All characters may act, in any order.
Now feeling more like his old self, the Yuan-Ti emerges once more before the treacherous drow. He eyes the man again and brings up something else that had been looming on his mind ever since he got a weapon in his hand.
"Now that our... 'business' is nigh complete," he draws one of his blades, a fine single-edged straight sword with a soft swept hilt. "...what keeps us from spilling your blood or taking you prisoner?"
As one side of the bridge collapses Monar immediately moves to the opposite rope and starts to hack at it with his short sword.
Attack: 21 Damage: 7
His eyes flick to the south as he hacks at the bridge. "C'mon, damn you," he mutters, willing the thick strand of rope to fail. Hearing Szefarian threaten the Drow, he quickly shifts his attention and calls to the Yuan-Ti.
"Take the bastard with us. He might prove a useful negotiating tool before we get out, and if he doesn't," he voice turns to a growl, "we can always stick 'im to show we're not messing!"
Jorlan's gaze drills into Szefarian momentarily, and then the drow answers. "Take me as prisoner and you will only strengthen Ilvara's resolve to hunt you down. Kill me and you accomplish two things: you send me to my death content with the shame I have brought upon Velkynvelve, and you demonstrate the filthy ingratitude of your kind."
Jorlan places his hand upon the hilt of his shortsword and adds, "What are the odds that our fight ends before the other drow arrive?"
Without success, Szefarian attempts to land a nasty kick on Jorlan and add further pain and humiliation to the drow.
Meanwhile, Monar feels the remaining strand of spider silk partially succumb to the damage of his blade. One more strike...or a bit too much weight...and the bridge connecting the armory to the rest of Velkynvelve will fall.
(Actions for Varis and Zilly are next. If applicable, Jorlan is prone on the bridge)
Zilly says to those in the armory, “Time to get the hell out of here.”
Assuming the distance allows, he will run to the southern door of the armory and throw his manacles as far as he could to the south, so they land in the web. Then he will cast Minor Illusion and place an immobile gnome as close to the manacles as possible, but within the 30 ft. range of the spell. (OOC: If not obvious, he is trying to lure any spiders away from his landing pad)
Then he will run to and out the northeastern door of the armory.
As he passes Jorlan he will say in Undercommon…
Thanks for the help, good luck to us all!
And then he will jump in the webs, as far north and as close to the edge as he can, as quietly and stealthily as he can!
Varis eyes the bridge and holds back his last strike. “That’s enough” he calls to Monar “If they can’t tell it is damaged, we might be able to drop it when the reinforcements arrive and buy more time for our escape.” He turns toward Szefarian ‘You should just leave him, he will only slow us down.”
He glances back toward the sounds of fighting to the north and down at the web and lake below. “Down is the fastest way out of here.” He looks up as Zilly runs by and jumps down into the web and Varis leaps behind him. (Varis aims to land close to the edge of the web.)
Zilly sets up his ruse on the web below and heads northward. Not far behind him is Varis, who is followed by Eldeth and Sarith. The last to exit the armory is Monar, who does so as Szefarian attempts to land his kick on Jorlan.
The scene to the north is chaotic, and the sound of battle continues. A few quaggoths have left their den--undoubtedly as they were ordered to do so by the drow--and have joined the fray. Ront's axe has seriously bloodied the quaggoth that is leading the charge.
Three of the svirfneblin (Tarnstrak, Treacle, and Jimjar) have landed on the web below and are attempting to make their way to the edge where they can fall into the murky pool. Buppido is standing on the ledge, as far northward as possible, and seems to be assessing his odds if he were to make the 70' freefall into the water below. Behind him are the two drow guards and Derendil, all of whom have succumbed to the violence of the battle.
Near the prisoners' gate stand Shuushar and Stool; neither creature has made a decision. As Monar exits the armory, however, Stool begins to move slightly toward the paladin. As Zilly and Varis land upon the forgiving but sticky webbing, Monar and Szefarian are crossing the spider silk bridge.
To the south, too distant to fire a meaningful shot, two drow warriors appear. _________________________________________________________________________________________________

"Have it your way!" The slaver runs past the stubborn drow to the rail. Seeing the other Quaggoth loosed and his own down for the count, he curses Derendil and his brutality. Whatever his past, he died a dog for his own foolishness, a path I don't intend to follow~! he thinks as he leaps for the webs below. If everything goes according to plan, he'll roll and dive for the water...!
Monar ignores Jorlan as he runs past, not even bothering to look at the Drow. He runs towards Stool and holds out an arm. "Here. Swing yourself up on my back and hold on tight, little one." He waits until Stool is on his back, then moves to Sarith, pushing him towards the stairs. "Move. Get as far down as you can then jump the rail onto the web where Ront is!" He follows Sarith down the steps and prepares to jump onto the webbing below.

Varis hits the webbing after a short fall and fights to keep his balance. He manages to free himself from the sticky web without much difficulty and moves to the edge. Pausing only to look back at the reinforcements coming from the south, still some distance away, he urges the others forward and jumps into the water below, holding his breath and hoping it is deep enough to break his fall.
Zilly and Varis avoid becoming fully entangled in the spider web, and both make their way to its edge. Varis makes the freefall into the water, and with a loud splash lands, unharmed, in the cold murky water. Just to the north of him are the twins (Tarnstrakand Treacle) and Buppido, who have also made it to the pool. Zilly waits at the web's edge, and as he turns to survey the scene behind him, the silhouette of a giant spider emerges from the shadows to the south. A short distance to the north of Zilly is Jimjar, who is clearly restrained in the web.
Above the webs, inexplicably, Ront continues his melee with one of the quaggoths, and Shuusharremains motionless near the prisoners gate.
Eldeth, Sarith, Szefarian, and Monar bring up the rear of the escaping party. As they rush along the walkway to the point where they will jump over the railing and into the webs, the air about them is suddenly filled with violet light. Eldeth and Sarith, in fact, begin to emit a distinct purple aura as they flee.
"Best of luck hiding yourselves, my glowing friends!" calls Jorlan from behind. (Szefarian and Monar must succeed on a DC 12 DEX save to avoid the effects of faerie fire)
Szefarian and Monar (with Stool in tow) land unceremoniously in the webbing and begin to make their way toward the edge: fortunately, they can do so without being restrained. Eldeth appears to have full freedom of movement. Sarith, however, has one of his legs badly entangled in the web.
The reinforcements on the bridge to the south immediately noticed the instability of the bridge and stopped their journey across it. Amid all the chaos of the escape the sound of the lift can be heard, suggesting that some drow may be lowering themselves to the cavern floor...
All party members may act. The giant spider will the follow.
Szefarian simply creeps to the edge, and slips over the side, doing his best to cause as little a splash as possible. Let the others worry about their fellow prisoners; he'll focus on himself. He takes a deep breath before he hits the water...
