@Clod: Despite the Watchmaster’s initial misgivings, Harliblith’s approach and manner have put him off of the worst of his suspicions, and she’s increasingly certain his attentions seems to be focused elsewhere. (I’ll also get into this a bit more in my next post when resolving everyone’s answers.)
Just as a heads up, I’ve got a (local) work conference Friday through Monday, so I’ll be a little more occupied than usual — I should still be able to check in / post when relevant in the evenings, but won’t be able to get on as often as I normally would for the next few days.
In the meantime, wishing everyone good end-of-week vibes!
Hey all! Just want to give you a quick update that Clod has let me know they (unfortunately!) have to bow out of the campaign for the time being, and have asked me to go ahead and write Harliblith out — so I’ll be doing a little piloting of the character and then will send her off. (Appreciate you joining this little adventure, Clod!!)
Otherwise, I’m planning to get up a post later tonight, after I have a chance to unmelt my brain slightly more post-conference day. I hope everyone’s had a nice weekend!
A couple things: 1. Turns out I have family in town for about the next week and a half -- should still be able to check in off and on, but may still take a bit more time than usual.
2. Where would you all like to go in game? You're welcome to discuss in both IC and OOC to sort out where you're all headed and what's next on the agenda, but the world / investigation is your oyster! Some things you currently know related to the investigation:
The prison has been exploded, apparently with the intention of releasing a genasi criminal -- you don't know how, other than the kobolds likely being involved. But there is a massive, smoking hole in the mountain, where the prison is located.
Luma spotted the reddish mud on the kobolds' feet, which one of the guards suggested an herbalist shopkeeper named Zendasa might help elucidate.
You now have a lead key from one of the kobolds, though no idea so far what it might unlock.
And if you have any questions (or any rolls you'd like to make), don't hesitate to let me know!
Aw, sad to see Clod go, thank you for joining in though! My schedule has been all over the place these last few weeks with suddenly working nights and having other stuff going on, and I'm going to be at a con from Thursday to Monday. Hope to pick up the pace after that and be a little more active, though! And if I'm ever holding anything up, feel free to nudge me about it but also to just move on if I haven't replied in time, I'd much rather know things keep going even if I'm a little late.
Just a note that if you are indeed interested in attempting to remove the explosive sphere (which you’re more than welcome to do!), I‘d ask for a Medicine check or a (harder) Sleight of Hand/Dex check. That said, having proficiency in Medicine is definitely the likeliest opportunity to mitigate causing fatal injury in the process if that’s your intent, and there may still be a risk of considerable injury, depending on the roll, etc. Bur anyone who wants to give it a shot is welcome to do so! (In either case, either a blade / sharp edge of some sort or thieves’ tools will be necessary for this.)
If anyone else decides they would like to, they can still go ahead and make a Dexterity/Sleight of Hand/Thieves' Tools check to remove the sphere, though with Luma's understanding in mind, it's clear that this has the potential for causing damage (and would presumably be exacted without Luma's help). But still an option! Or if anyone is interested in examining the explosive device further without necessarily making an attempt to remove it, you're welcome to make either an Investigation or Arcana check. If you'd like to closely inspect the key, that'd be an Investigation check, too.
Or if there's somewhere you'd like to go, just let me know or of course feel free to discuss! With what you already know in mind, you can head to the prison site where the explosion occurred, you can head over to Lay of the Land to see if you can gather information from the closed shop or try to find where Zendasa is spending her time in the evenings, you can head up to Upper Hupperdook where the vast majority of the city is currently gathered, or absolutely anything else that comes to mind.
Hey! Just wanted to leave a note for our lovely DM that I'm still checking every now and then, just been busy a bit the past few days + this current scene in the IC thread seems to be a small group conversation so I didn't want to butt in on it. Promise I'm not disappearing on ya :>
Hey hey, I appreciate the notes! :) No worries at all.
And while I’m already here and thinking about it, just a couple FYIs: if your character ever wants to do something separate from the group, you’re welcome to! I’m happy to run a couple scenarios simultaneously until they meet up again. (This doesn’t need to be for right now, by any means, just a heads up for any in-game moments where it feels relevant.)
You’re also always welcome to share OOC thoughts here if you ever have any preferences / theories / observations / things you think might be interesting that wouldn’t necessarily align with your character (e.g. “I know my character’s arguing against exploring this Very Spooky Tomb but I think it’d be cool as hell, so I’m happy to drag her reluctantly along”), or whatever else! Again, not something that needs need to apply to right now, just so you all feel comfortable with the range of options.
And last thing: don’t forget to add your share of gold to your inventory! (You’ll certainly have some opportunities to go shopping at some point if there’s anything you want to add to your repertoire.)
Also, just to clarify: the actual blast site (the prison from which Onyx was freed) is visible to you all if you head toward the north end of the crossroads and look west as a giant still-slightly-smoking hole, but it is a (not overly long, but still) distance away, so if that’s somewhere you want to explore, it will take a short walk to get there.

Thanks for the heads up, Reko! No worries at all — hope working nights hasn’t been too awful (ugh), and especially hope you have a really great con!

Sorry it's taking me a while to respond. I had a bit of an unexpected visit the last couple of days, but I'm gonna post tonight, for sure.
No problem at all! FYI appreciated -- I hope it was a nice visit!
It was pretty good. We went to a street fair. :D

Oh nice, that's fun! Love a street fair.

Same here! I don't think my character would have much to add to what's currently going on.
Hey hey, I appreciate the notes! :) No worries at all.

What the share of gold per character? Sorry if I missed it!
It was 350 upfront so, 70 each? If I'm counting the number of PCs correctly
70 gold each makes sense to me!
