He introduced himself the prior night in front of everyone as Morfinnion around the pitted the boar and told them he was somewhat familiar with these parts considering he ranged a bit before he met the group that were killed by the T-Rex, then retired for the few hours to get a bit of rest.
Waking up dawn, he takes a drink from his waterskin, rubs the salve on any exposed skin, then puts on his cloak and takes a moment to run a whetstone across his scimitars, then stands and sheathes his weapons. "I'll be coming with you," he says as he walks over, "I'd rather have a strong party covering my back like yesterday instead of dying alone in the woods."
Farin wastes no time getting up. He takes a swig of water from his jug, gulps down a piece of jerky, and applies the salve to himself. After taking the time to prepare his spells, he heads over to the rest of the party with Morfinnion.
"Aye," he agrees. "It's best to for us stick together."
Morfinnion gives Slem a sidelong glance, momentarily confused and slightly horrified at his words. "So long as you don't go spilling my blood and sitting in it, I think we can have ourselves an agreement," he says, and despite his slight horror he cannot help but grin at the strange words. Would he have found anyone so uncouth back home? He knew he wouldn't, and it was that lack of civility that drew him to the woods, that brutality of nature, and much like Slem an unrefined touch to it, a bit of chaos.

Zubeki trots closer to Zee and poses the question: "So why do you believe that we will be the first to the treasure? I understand why other would not just randomly wander into the jungle, but a 3-day's journey is still very close to Port. Do you believe to be guarded?" He huffs and wheezes a little from the extra effort to get to the front of the pack. The oppressive heat drains the energy quickly from anyone who exerts themselves unnecessarily.

He huffs and wheezes a little from the extra effort to get to the front of the pack. The oppressive heat drains the energy quickly from anyone who exerts themselves unnecessarily.
Zee smiles at Zubeki as he asks his questions and her eyes light up. "I know we will be the first because the large stone door to the temple is still sealed shut. The whole temple is covered by vines and brush. The jungle reclaimed it centuries ago. That is probably why it's undiscovered. I found it by accident and dumb luck."
Zee swats at some of the insects buzzing around the group but they aren't bothering anyone but Slem. You hear him curse as he gets bitten a few times from the insect swarms.
"As for it being guarded, I'm sure it is. This jungle was once swarming with Yuan-Ti and their civilization used to thrive until one day they started disappearing slowly at first. A lot of ruined temples, pyramids, and cities found are theirs. I found Yuan-Ti writing and pictographs on this temple so good chance there is evil within."
Jolly joins Morfinnion in the sidelong glance, just as disturbed, if not even more so. However, seeing no other really object to the Tabaxi's mannerisms, he resolved to keep a close eye on the peculiar being. At least however much Chult allows in its jungles...
"Yuan-ti? This one has heard of them, though... only in relation to the Naga. And you label them evil... Why is that?" Jolly asks, momentarily distracted by the conversation.

"Yuan-ti? This one has heard of them, though... only in relation to the Naga. And you label them evil... Why is that?" Jolly asks, momentarily distracted by the conversation.
Zee looks over at Jolly and frowns. "The serpent creatures known as yuan-ti are all that remains of an ancient, decadent human empire. Ages ago their dark gods taught them profane, cannibalistic rituals to mix their flesh with that of snakes, producing a caste-based society of hybrids in which the most snakelike are the leaders and the most humanlike are spies and agents in foreign lands."
Zee looks around the group and sighs.
"The people who became yuan-ti were one of the original human civilizations. Their society built great temples of stone and forged metal into armor, tools, and weapons. In their ceremonies, they paid homage to the snake as the embodiment of the qualities they most appreciated. They developed a philosophy of separating emotion from intellectual pursuits, allowing them to focus their energy on personal advancement and expanding their territory. They believed themselves to be the most enlightened mortals in the world, and in their hubris, they sought to become ever greater.
The serpent gods of the primordial world heeded the prayers of these people and hissed dark demands into their ears. The people tainted their souls by performing human sacrifices in the name of the gods, debased their flesh by cannibalizing their victims, and then performed a sorcerous ritual while writhing in pools filled with living snakes that enabled them to mix their flesh with that of serpents, becoming like the gods in body, thought, and emotion. Freed from the limitations of their human bodies, the yuan-ti used their new abilities to conquer new lands and expand their borders.
The human civilization that gave rise to the yuan-ti was among the richest in the mortal world. It rapidly progressed in metalworking, using keen intellect and magic to discover the secrets of making steel. Its military shattered rival tribes and developed advanced tactics for fighting in forests and open plains.
The civilization grew into a cluster of allied city-states. Conquered neighbors were allowed to keep their leaders and culture so long as they paid tribute, swore allegiance to the victors, and incorporated their conquerors’ serpent gods into their religions. These victories sent a constant influx of food, ore, and slaves back to the home cities."
Zee looks over at Jolly again. "So you tell me, are they evil? Many civilizations that were destroyed and enslaved by them think so. And don't even get me started on Ras Nsi."
Musharib curses and spits on the ground at the mention of Ras Nsi. "Aye, he is as evil as they come."
You spend the rest of the morning walking in silence until sometime after midday, Jolly spots a 10-foot-tall statue overgrown with vines. The statue depicts a stylized Chultan king — a representation of Ubtao. There are Goblin, Grung, and Su-Monster skulls laying all around its feet.
Meanwhile
At about the same time Jolly notices the statue, Slem loses his balance and slips on the ground. He feels a sudden drop in body temperature that causes uncontrollable shivering and chattering of the teeth. As he tries to get up he is having a hard time seeing through his blurry vision and it seems the whole jungle is spinning all around him and it is very hard for him to do anything.
As Morfinnion is talking with the others, he sees Slem fall to the ground; immediately, he drops his bag and runs to him to try and figure out what's wrong with him, but his limited knowledge on medicine isn't enough to figure out what's wrong with him. "I need a healer over here!" He calls out to the others.
Musharib hears Morifinnion and turns and sees Slem shivering on the ground. Musharib begins to chuckle. "Shivering Sickness. I guess he forgot to put on insect salve this morning."Musharib shrugs and looks towards the statue. "Nothing I can do about it."
Zee looks sad "There is nothing I can do about it as well. Unless any of you can remove diseases, he can try and fight it off in the morning when he wakes up. Hopefully, his body rejects it but it is going to be very rough on him the next 24 hours."
Once symptoms begin, the infected creature regains only half the normal number of hit points from spending Hit Dice and no hit points from a long rest. The infected creature also has disadvantage on ability checks and attack rolls. At the end of a long rest, an infected creature repeats the saving throw, shaking off the disease on a successful save.
As Vrak lays his hands on Slem, Slem can feel the healing warmth of the divine spread throughout his body, taking hold of the disease. He can feel the disease make its way through his body, up his throat, before he begins coughing hard. All of a sudden the coughing stops and Slem feels fine.
Zee nods her approval before turning back towards the statue. "A statue of Ubtao here?" Zee says as she makes a small hand gesture and kisses her fingers towards the sky in respect for Ubtao. She does not make any move towards it, letting Jolly do the honors since he saw it first.
Naivara raises a brow and takes a step towards Slem to see what happened but sees Morfinnion beat her to it. She glances over to Zee and Musharib as they speak, beginning frown as her gaze goes back to Slem. She watches Vrak approach and with his claim that he could help she turns away, she tilts her head at the statue and glances at Zee once she speaks. She then glances back once more to see if everything is fine again with Slem.
With a bit of a start, Jolly almost immediately dispelled the whirlwind of thoughts over snake men and curious statues to rush over to Slem's side. "Mildly put, leader Vrak." Jolly worriedly comments, still in the process of examning the Slem. Hearing the prognosis, he sighs in relief, and starts to make ready to prop up (if not outright carry) the peculiar cat man, only to stop and make room at Vrak's declaration.
'A boon of Bahamut?' Jolly shook his head, and after giving Slem a few, gentle pats on the back during the coughing fit, he takes in the statue. "Why is that strange?"Jolly asks, absently mimicking at least part of the hand gesture. "Would it not be a sign that we are growing closer to your -- our destination?" Jolly cants his head as he peered at the base of the statue, and began to approach it. "Hm. Curious, is -- was it, this one supposes, normal to leave behind the remains as offerings?" He asks, regarding the grung skull in particular once close enough.

"Yes Jolly, a boon of Bahamut. It is fortunate I am here or Slem may not have survived the night. But the danger has passed and he will be fine. There are many dangers in this jungle and we must be careful. "
Standing Vrak offers a hand to Slem to help him up to his feet. He then follows Jolly to look at what they have found. But he stays back a bit not interfering or asking questions only listening to their conversation.
Zee shakes her head. " The temple is Yuan-Ti, this is a statue of the Chultan god Ubtao". She again makes the small hand gesture and kisses her fingers to the sky.
Upon closer examination of the statue, you notice a maze that is carved on its chest.
"Supposedly if you can follow the maze, Ubtao will give you his blessing," Musharib says.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
“If everyone can stay vigil and give me a few moments, I’ll can reproduce this maze.” Zubeki plops down onto the ground and pulls out a note book of sketches. Flipping one over he produces a worn quill and a small vial of ink and begins to re-draw the maze. (Investigation to Copy Map: 25)

Vrak turns around when he hears the commotion behind him. He walks over when he hears the call for a healer.
"Well friend this does not look good. "
He listens as the guides give their prognosis.
"I can lend aid with this situation."
