Vesta eyes the brackish water with clear distaste and more than a little fear. When she was a little girl, her parents had taken her to a lake for a summer holiday. Ignoring her father's warnings, she had ventured too far into the water and almost drowned. Sometimes she still had nightmares of water filling her lungs, and she would wake herself up gasping. The sorcerer shivered despite herself and watched Hollis build a skiff with clear skepticism in her eyes.
"It's a tight fit, but I think we could still squeeze through this passageway," she points out.
"It's unlikely the raft and the tunnel will bring us to the same place so we may be checking them both out in time," Mulligan points out. "So it's likely we'll do both. I personally prefer checking out the tunnel as it seems more unusual and thus more interesting... But they already built the raft so we may as well use it. If we don't it could signal to whoever comes this way next that intruders are around..."
Dara helps Celeste construct a skiff from nearby materials. As they work, he adds, “If we need to make a hasty retreat, the tunnel might slow us down. It will help to have another way to escape. But it would be a good idea to check both routes.”
(OK - so a raft is constructed from the debris that looks pretty sturdy, but the small passage beckons some of you. Seems like three of you are leaning towards the tunnel - Zyl, Mulligan, Vesta. Decisions, decisions...but I need a decision =)
Wet or tight passage made no difference to Celeste, she was flexible in that manner. Her preference was to simply stick close to Vesta and the others. She’d nod along in agreement to Dana, and in thanks for his assistance for the raft.
The group decides to take the water route. The water filling this tunnel is at least 3 feet deep, and the raft can fit up to 4 of you. Zyllyne will fly, leaving one person to volunteer as tribute and wade/swim through the passage. (Wading or swimming through the water counts as difficult terrain. Those of you riding the raft can propel it up to 20 feet in a direction of your choice in a round.) (Updated Map)
Vesta bites her lip as the decision is made to take the raft. She waits until the last moment before saying, nervously, "If it's all right, I'd prefer to be on the raft. I...I don't swim very well."
"I'll walk," Mulligan offers. "So long as you don't go too fast. Little legs and all..." The halfling then looks at the water dubiously and decides he is NOT stepping into that slop willingly. Instead he casually stuffs his hands in his pockets and starts walking up the wall towards the ceiling. Slippers of Spider Climbing are good for more than just climbing up to a paramours third floor window in the middle of the night...
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
(@Kaemgen - love it!!)
The group set, they begin the trip along the flooded passage - about 65' all told heading southwest and then west. The tunnel is 10' wide, and where it turns to the west it narrows to about 5' - it appears that a wall has been broken through ages ago. However, about halfway down the tunnel, characters who have a passive Perception score of 15 or higher notice odd waves and currents that suggest the presence of a creature in the water.
Roll initiative - something in the water is attacking you!! (If your passive Perception score is lower than 15, you have disadvantage on this initiative roll.) Monster: 13
Mulligan is watching his step as it's a sewer and even the ceiling is dirty and gross and has questionable lumps of unknown materials... Eew. As such, his eyes are not on the water and he is definitely rolling with disadvantage.
(If someone with Proficiency in Survival Helps Ixi, they can build a pretty sturdy raft! No more rolls needed - she already did it...)
Love God. Love Others. Any Questions?

Zyl would much rather go through a small space than through yucky water but she'll do whichever.

((Mulligan has already relented to the raft idea...))
(Since they made the raft already Zyl will go with them that way, but will fly over the yucky water if necessary)
((If the raft don't float Mulligan is climbing the walls instead!))

just an unstable unicorn.
((Bites his tongue so as to stay out of trouble...))

17 or10 +4 for 14Initiative rolled in log: 9 at disadvantage.
Zyl is far too preoccupied with staying out of the yucky water!
Initiative: 4
Dara notices the creature but he thinks it’s just a really big fish and doesn’t realize it wants them for dinner…
