Atlas will sheath his rapier and gather the arrow he shot off. As he is doing so he will say to Khessa, "I have a feeling the information we are owed won't be paid until she has her ship under her boots." He then glances at Tarina and asks, "Would that be a correct assumption?"
Dragon's teeth! Now we're taking a pirate ship? I like you all and all that but I just wanna go home. Captain what's his face gave us one mission. I just wanna get those spell components for master Orbos and get back to Waterdeep. I'll be in my room, let me know what were doing. heads back up stairs, as he disappears up them you hear his shakey voice call out, ah ann and there's blood on my boots! Takes off his boots before entering his room, sets on the bed casting prestidigitation to clean his boots and clothes, fighting off the tears...
TARINA looks at ATLAS,"Correct." She gives the Rogue a wink. She then turns to KHESSA, "I will tell you everything Zodge wants. But not until I have my ship."
RAHIMAwill look around, "Ooh. Are we taking a Pirate ship now?"
TAZZAVUR walks by a nearby table and drinks from an abandoned tankard, wiping his snout with the back of his hand and letting out a belch.
”Now, I wasn’t there mind you, but as I understand it by the telling, the agreement was for one dead pirate captain.”
He casts around looking for a second tankard, reaches across the table, takes another swig and slams it back down.
”I ain’t averse to another skirmish but I’d say there’s a different price for that deed. What might ye offer?”
He wanders over to the slain pirate captain as he rummages through his belongings, checking pockets and jewellery.
“Capable folks are in short supply,” he looks around at the remnants of the crew, “and I’m not sure this sorry lot are going to be much use by themselves.”
TARINAwill look at TAZZAVUR, "And you are? Some of you with the Flaming Fist wanted this information off my dead corpse. I can promise you that my dead corpse will not tell you anything. I, on the otherhand, have exactly what you want. And to get it, we," She looks at everyone, "need to take back my ship."
"I tell you what, you help me take back my ship, you will always have a hammock when I am in port, and if you need a lift, I can assist anywhere along the Sword Coast," she says this almost proudly.
[[ OOC: Lol! In fact, Tarina is the new Pirate Captain now... So she all of a sudden has a ton of HP and three attacks/round! She can be a great help now! (Jocking, of course) 😉 ]]
The disappointment and surprise are evident in Khessa's blue eyes: "Tarina..." she gasps "I told you I would defend you from Dead-Eye - and in fact I almost got torn to pieces to save you. And even now... you insist on not telling me anything? Tazzavur is right about one thing - you promised to give us the information if we freed you from Dead-Eye, which we promptly did. Tell us what we need to know; don't you think we earned it?"
"I'll help you get your ship back anyway, before putting your information to good use," the blonde warrior assures "both because I can always use a hammock to sleep in, and most of all because," she looks into her eyes "I care about you - and I think you'll be a resourceful captain - but friendship, precious as it is, can't be one-sided... I kept my word to you - now you do the same".
"Even more so," the tall adventurer assesses "if you expect opposition... If you think the crew will accept you without a problem, we can go right away... but if there's a chance we'll have to fight again, it should be more prudent to rest and go get the ship tomorrow. You know, Dead-Eye was every bit as formidable as you described him to be... Many of my friends have had to use up a great deal of their magical resources. Resources they won't have again until they can rest proeprly".
TARINA looks at KHESSAand takes in all she has to say, "NO! It needs to be now. I honestly didn't think we had a chance against Dead-Eye. I honestly thought he would kill us all. But he is dead and the iron is hot. It needs to be now. I will tell you all you need to know, but tonight we rest on the Uncivil Serpent."
KHESSA can tell that TARINAwants to trust her and almost let it out. But trust does not come easy for this Rogue Bard who has been lied too and cheated upon her whole life. And the chance to be Captain has always been her dream. She is sincerely concerned that if she tells KHESSA where the Cultist of the Dead Three are operating out of, that you and the party will go away and that will be it. Her chance will be gone.
TAZZAVUR will find two gold chains covered in blood and a blackened gold ring set with white pearls on Dead-Eye's body. He also had a pouch with 35 gold pieces and 25 silver pieces.
Khessa runs a hand over Tarina's shoulders, forcing a smile, despite being clearly embittered by the other's lack of trust: "Okay, I understand. Apparently, almost getting torn to pieces for you is not enough proof that you can count on me. What can I say?" she sighs "At least, you will never have the problem of trusting people too much". She looks into her eyes with her blue ones "But I understand you in part; from what you told me you have suffered so much... As far as I am concerned, I am willing to trust you once again. We will make sure that tonight we rest on the Uncivil Serpent".
The tall adventuress bends down, retrieves Dead-Eye's head and offers it to Tarina: "Not the nicest of trinkets, i know, but... perhaps by showing proof that the old captain is no longer capable of... err... fulfilling his duties, the rest of the crew will accept you without a fight" she turns and walks away to go and call Elias; but in the meantime she advises: "Let's at least take a quick breather... The ship will certainly not set sail in an hour. And we will need to recover our strength".
[[ OOC: Proposing to take a short rest, just in case we end up fighting again... Khessa is almost at full health, thanks to the magical healing received while fighting the boss, but someone might be more in need to spend an HD for a bit of healing... Plus, at very least, Fighters get Second Wind back after a short rest... ]]
The blonde warrior looks for her fellow adventurers, as if to invite them to intervene, if they have a different opinion or if they have something to add. She can be quick to speak... but that does not mean she feels authorized to speak for everyone. If no one else offers a counter-proposal, she reaches the young wizard in his room and forces herself to smile at him: "Thank you for those energy bolts, earlier... Dead-Eye would have sliced me to pieces without your help. Oh, and thank you for telling me you think I'm beautiful, earlier, at the Basilisk Gate... And for calling me 'lady', while I was walking around the tavern with a severed head in my hand - even though I'm really a cabbage farmer, you should know... And also thank you for promising to help me study the book about magic I have got - this would be so... great! I'm certainly not in a position to ask you for any more favors but..." now it's easier for her to smile, as she looks at him "...do you want to come and visit a pirate ship? We'll be fine, you'll see... You already found out what the secret is, right? Just stay behind me..." she winks "Will you come with me? Oh, with us, I meant, of course. With me and the others".
Elias looks at Khessa, noticing the blood splatter on her armor. If I may. He pulls his wand out, moving it in an M shaped pattern and whispering the arcane phrase cast prestidigitation to clean the blood from her.
I've never been a party to someone else's death. I'm not sure I'm cut out to be an "adventurer". I hadn't really considered exactly what the captain was asking us to do until a little while ago. Master Orbos would be ticked and being caught here would somehow have been my fault. Guess I might as well try to make the best of it, and you could talk me into confronting an owlbear for a new quill feather. I won't have anymore magic missiles until after I rest for the night, so I won't be of much help. But I'll go along with you.
OOC - if she gives us an hour or so before we head out I'd like to cast find familiar looking for an owl, owl . I think I can cast it as a ritual spell but will need one hour and ten minutes. hope that link works.
"Oh, always so kind to me..." Khessa smiles, flattered, as the omnipresent bloodstains that made her look like a butcher in full operation suddenly disappear completely.
At the idea of the young mage who determinedly faces a towering living fury of feathers, beak and claws, the blonde warrior laughs heartily and, patting him on the shoulder, takes out a quill from a compartment of her backpack: "There won't be any need to go that far, Elias! See? I already have a quill... We'll have to settle for a pirate ship!"
The tall adventuress however sits down next to him and, now more serious, takes his hand: "Your upset about 'having been a party to someone else's death' does you credit, Elias. I too was a person ignorant of violence, until recently..." her blue eyes seem to look into the distance, now... perhaps into the past "...a cabbage farmer, I told you. I cultivated the land with my family, who loved me, and, even though almost every day I had to wake up early and work hard, even today I can't imagine a more beautiful existence than that. I'm not the one who chose to become... as you see me now. It was a necessity. A drow raid wiped out the hamlet in which we lived. They enslaved all the inhabitants - including my family and me. To be able to free myself from that situation... to have hope myself - and also give some one to my family, still imprisoned in the Underdark, that I will try to free one day as well - I was forced to learn to kill".
"The first time I took a life, it was a different situation from yours..." Khessa is still lost in her memories "The victim was one of those bastard drow slavers. The same one who had killed my brother in his time. And who had dozed off next to me, after having - and not for the first time - taken advantage of the fact that I was tied up to be... very mean to me. "Pleasant, even. And before I could see the light of day again, on the surface, I had to kill again. But that taught me" her gaze softens again, her blue eyes focusing on the young mage's "that sometimes, to stop the violence of those who would harm the defenseless, the common folk... there is no alternative to violence. Dead-Eye, who you helped to kill today, would have murdered us and Tarina, if you hadn't helped. And the Dead Three cultists, who we're hunting for the Flaming Fist, same thing: they kill. They murder ordinary citizens. The Flaming Fist has no other people to send after them — so they sent us. It will do you honor to feel sorry for the deaths we will probably have to cause... but, believe me, many more deaths will be prevented this way".
[[ OOC: If we agree to a breather, Khessa will take a Shor Rest ]]
"Again, your name?"TARINA gets close to TAZZAVUR."Information is what you get. Nothing more." She looks approvingly at the Dragonborn, "If you want part of our plunder then become part of my crew. I could use someone like you."
"Now give me five gold pieces out of Dead-Eye's pouch. We should give something to Alan to help clean up the mess we made,"she holds out a hand at TAZZAVUR.
(Everyone can take a short rest. I will wait for Tazzavur's response before continuing.)
Atlas will reassure Tarina, "It was never MY intention to take anything off of your corpse." As he says this, he glances over at TAZZ and thinks 'There's no thrill in stealing from the dead.'
"But, I realize it was never YOUR intention to give us this information until you were completely satisfied with our 'services' so to speak." with this Atlas would like to try to discern weather the information is tangible and on the ship. INSIGHT: 8
"Of course I am not opposed to assisting further, I'm use to people changing the terms of the deals they make. I just hope that this deal doesn't turn out like most..." Atlas will give Tarina a look of expectant betrayal and add, "In other words (Thieves' Cant) 'Do not betray us.' If you can handle that then I think we can deal."
"Now, I agree to taking a moment to lick our wounds. But then we should hurry up and take this ship, I can hear that hammock calling my name!" He will end with a nice big smile on his face. This whole range of emotions that Atlas has displayed has all been an attempt to make him seem like a wild card, a loose cannon, an unknown to everyone, party members included. PERFORMANCE:12
With that Atlas will head to the bar and order a drink while he rests.
Elias looks at Khessa, a flurry of emotions swipes over his face in an instance before his cheeks blush a reddish hue. He turns his face, I believe we have time for one spell, (pending DM approval) a ritual that will summon a wizards familiar. You are welcome to rest here if you like or accompany me as I preform the spell. I seem to recall your interest in the arcane arts.
Leaving the window of my room open, I'll move into thev bigger room and setup at one of the gaming tables.
If unable to cast the spell then I'll offer the bed to Khessa while I set next to the bed and record the days events in my journal.
(Meanwhile sometime before and up to the end of the Short Rest.)

UPSTAIRS:
Near the end of ELIAS' incantations something flies through the window.
"Let's have a strong drink and potentially a last meal. Preferences are meat and something that will burn as it goes down, but I'll take what you've got." Atlas prepares for what lies ahead assuming that they might not live.
While waiting for his drink and meal he will pray under his breath, "Lord of the Shadows, please give me the guile and the wisdom I will need to accomplish the tasks before me. Lunar Lady, may your moonlight hide my presence and aid me in my quest."
The Bartender will nod and head to the kitchen. He returns with a plate that has on it a wooden bowl filled with the house beef stew and a chunk of bread. The stew is cooked with generous portions of beef, potatoes, carrots, onions, other vegetables, and a number of aromatic spices. He then looks at ATLAS, "I recommend the Stout with this, but we have whiskey too. Either way that will be three silvers."
"I'll be delighted to see you casting such a spell!" Khessa exclaims, enthusiastically - and so, while she rests and catches her breath, she also follows with keen interest what Elias is doing. She also takes out the mysterious tome with the web-spider-like decorations on the cover and writes down some passages, while the young wizard performs them.
When the blonde warrior, who now feels like new, is ready to try to take over the pirate ship, she opens her blue eyes wide in wonder, finally seeing an owl appear... "How cute! It's a beautiful animal... Is it also magical? You really are a very talented wizard... I can't wait to have time to study with you properly!"
"Shall we go?" the tall adventuress asks, ready to help Tarina become the new captain of the Uncivil Serpent "The sooner we settle this last matter, the sooner we can dedicate ourselves to more peaceful and interesting things like studying magic!"
[[ OOC: Khessa ready whenever you all are. She expends her only HD, since at the next long rest she will have it back and I doubt we will have a third fight this day. No need to roll: she regains 1d10+2 HP but she is missing only 1 - so she is back at full health. She gets also her Second Wind use back. She is as ready as she can be, in case of more violence needed. ]]
Atlas will sheath his rapier and gather the arrow he shot off. As he is doing so he will say to Khessa, "I have a feeling the information we are owed won't be paid until she has her ship under her boots." He then glances at Tarina and asks, "Would that be a correct assumption?"

”Shares need to be redistributed anyway. Waddya say?”

He then looks at ATLAS, "I recommend the Stout with this, but we have whiskey too. Either way that will be three silvers."
"Let's go with the whiskey. I thank you." as Atlas places 3 silvers on the counter.
