RAHIMA is curious about the conversation. But after a minute with everyone silently staring at her, RAHIMA gets up and goes to the other gaming table with a, "FINE THEN!"reacation.
Then TARINA responds, “I can help you. I know exactly where you need to go. But you have to help me first," TARINApauses and takes a deep breath. “I have word that my former captain,” she turns her head and spits on the heavily stained rug, “Is in port and looking for me. I am sure he and some of my former shipmates will try to kill me. I tell you what, if they shows up here, you kill them first, then I will help you. Just hang around here for a while and see if they show up. By the way, they are formidable.”
ELIAS can tell that her calm demeanor is hiding a very sincere and real fear.
Nod to Atlas, correct you are. However it seems like someone's death is the only way to get the information and possibly getting on with our lives. my eyes fix on Tarina, Raynoir, my new priest friend, if I recall correctly clerics of your order can speak with the dead? Logically then, instead of putting ourselves in harms way, we let the "good captain" see you first, my friend here questions your corpse and we get our info. Still gives us two out of three satisfied parties and only one death? stand, turn my back to her as if I'm going back down stairs...
I lean in to Atlas and whisper too much? stopping for a moment and give the impression that I'm pondering something Atlas just whispered to me. Turn back to Tarina, correct you are and I hadn't considered that, my friends and I beg your patience as we discuss this. head down stairs.
Khessa does not follow the others down immediately... She instead puts an empathetic hand on Tarina's shoulder and assures her, with compassion in her blue eyes: "No one kills an innocent without me doing anything to prevent it! Don't worry; if your former captain and shipmates are formidable, we can improve our chances of winning by setting a trap for them. If they are hunting you, we should be able to lure them where we want them, in a place where we have and advantage".
"Or even better," the blonde warrior continues "if you know where the Cultists' base is, we could spread the word that you are in league with the Cultists and are hiding in their base. Then your 'friends' will clash with the Cultists. And we can wait for the confrontation to finish and just eliminate the winner - who, while victorious, will probably be weakened by the battle. How do you think that sounds?" she smiles "Isn't it much more convenient for everyone, this way?"
"Anyway, tell me the truth..." the tall adventuress also asks "Why are they looking for you? Why do they want to kill you? Obviously, there must be a reason for their relentlessness towards you... I'm not asking this to judge you, mind me - but only to know the reason that guides the actions of those hunting you".
“No.no. no. I know where the Cultist of the Dead Three are operating out of. You will not get that information until we deal with Dead-Eye first,"she says to KHESSA. "You see they call him Dead-Eye. And he is a treacherous scoundrel. I was First Mate under Captain Murosko Sessprin on the ship the Uncivil Serpent. Dead-Eye was part of the crew and was hired on more for his muscle. We had just appropriated a rather large amount of wealth, when Dead-Eye murdered Captain Sessprin and took over the ship. Afterwards, I became Dead-Eye’s plaything. He would often beat me and make me spend the night in the bilge. But one night when we were moored about a mile or so up the coast from Caer Cadidirr, and when the crew was more drunk than usual, I escaped, and I took Dead-Eye’s coffer with me. I made my way to Llewellyn where I booked passage to Baldur’s Gate. He likely looked all over the Moonshae Isles for me. But now he is here. And Dead-Eye likely has his worst with him. Kill them and I will help you. Otherwise, I am out of here.”
RAYNOIR rolls a 5 and busts out. ATLAS Takes the pot. (30 gp and 1 pp)
(OOC - No problem Angel_dePrime. We will all have Real Life issues that come up now and then. The party is going to need its Cleric. I hope you don't mind we go back and forth with general RP issues in the meantime.
Khessa tries to explain one last time: "I will help you anyway, Tarina, no matter what - but don't you understand that sending 'Dead-Eye and his worst' against the Cultists is the most convenient way for both you and us? Are you afraid that we will go against the Cultists right away, leaving you to Dead-Eye? Not only would I never do that - it wouldn't be convenient for us either! Why face the Cultists at full strength, if we can instead weaken them by unleashing Dead-Eye against them before?"
The blonde warrior, however, is aware of her own limits... even when she says things that seem perfectly sensible to her, it often happens (as she explained to Elias earlier) that those who listen remain unconvinced. If this happens to Tarina too - if Tarina doesn't understand that it would be in everyone's interest (both hers and the party's) to trick Dead-Eye into attacking the Cultists, she sighs, resigned: "It's a missed opportunity for both of us - it would have been so much easier... But I neither can force you nor want to. As I said, I'll help you anyway. But at least help us in turn to set a trap for them".
"Do you know of an abandoned building?" the tall adventuress asks "We could fortify it (and trap it) somehow, and you could bait Dead-Eye and his gang in there. At least we'd have an advantage in the fight. It's in your interest too, I think, to increase the chances of us winning..."
"I have a few questions of my own. Firstly, What is the name of Dead-Eye's Ship? If we are to find it in port we should know as much about it as possible."
Even if the plan is decidedly to set a trap, Atlas gathers this information for his own interests.
makes my way to the bar, barkeep? Would you have anything that would not get one drunk, a non-sprit spirit but stronger than just water and better tasting than soured milk? Also, do you have rooms available?
TARINA will look at ATLAS,“Uncivil Serpent. The same ship where I served Captain Sessprin. It should be my ship now.”
She then responds to KHESSA,“And you don’t understand Dead-Eye. He is as likely to align himself with the Cultist of the Dead Three than fight them. He cares only for revenge and treasure. He has no vengeance toward them and would know nothing of any treasure. As to setting up a trap somewhere else, we do not have the time. If you are willing to help me, then it is here and, in this place. Maybe you can find someone here that can help. RAHIMA is a cleric. Otherwise, I am out of here along with what I know.”
Downstairs:
The barkeep looks at ELIAS and simply nods. He reaches under the bar and produces a bottle with a cork in it. He pops the cork and pours the contents into a large wooden mug. He turns and after a blue flash, gives a cold mug to the young wizard, “That’ll will be a silver piece.”
The liquid is frothy, sweet, and cool but not alcoholic. It is really good. (OOC – And if they had vanilla ice cream it would make a nice float.)
The bartender continues, “I have a plain room. Five silvers for the night. Our fancy room is available too. That is two gold pieces. We will bring you breakfast in the morning.”
TAZZAVUR approaches young ELIAS.
Suddenly you once again here the woman singing in elvish. It seems louder and can be heard upstairs as well as downstairs. The tavern goes eerily silent, and then you hear gasp throughout from some of the patrons. The bartender exclaims in a surprised manner, “What!”
"It sounds like they might be here already. Since you're seemingly not willing to help in the fight, fine! I will request that you stay here and map out what you remember of the ship. Once we're done with him, maybe we can hurt him even further by plundering the vessel he covets so dearly. I guess it's time for us to join the fun downstairs."
Atlas will look for a way to stay in the shadows to make his way downstairs and remain hidden.
My thanks Tax. I guess it went ok, we've got to kill some captain guy and his thugs before she'll tell us anything. I'm just not ready for this. All my studies, my training, everything I've ever done or wanted was to just be a house wizard to a good noble family. Not an adventuring wizard.
"I see" Khessa's blue eyes light up with unwavering determination. The part of Tarina's story about the 'plaything' stung a cord in her... reminding her of very unpleasant experiences during her captivity at the hands of the drow... "In that case, we'll do our best here and now".
The blonde warrior immediately goes to warn Ms Sparkly: "Rahima, come, please... try to be ready to help us! Apparently, some enemies of Tarina are coming here with the full intention of killing her! My friends you've already seen and I will try to defend her... try to give us a hand too, okay? I'm not asking you to risk your life, but, you know, if you could just stay back and toss a healing spell when needed..."
"The stairs are the best bottleneck we have," the tall adventuress assesses the situation (positioning herself so as to block access to the floor). "This way, only one scoundrel at a time can come and fight me... while those of us who want to fight in melee can stay at my side and attack anyway and those who prefer to fight from range can stay behind me. And Rahima from behind could heal some of us, just in case".
RAHIMA is curious about the conversation. But after a minute with everyone silently staring at her, RAHIMA gets up and goes to the other gaming table with a, "FINE THEN!" reacation.

ELIAS can tell that her calm demeanor is hiding a very sincere and real fear.
Looking at his party members Atlas will mutter, "Isn't the whole point of this mission to stop mindless killings?"

TAZZUVAR sits in silence with his drinking companion, musing on what he had just heard.
When he sees the young mage come down the stairs alone and head to the bar, he makes his leave and approaches him.
”That was quick - a bust I assume?”
He claps a large scaled hand on his shoulder.

Open if you know Elvish:
The first song you hear when you first enter is a woman singing lamenting an unnamed lover lost at sea.
The second song you hear is the following:
O sing a song of Elturel
Of water, woods, and hill
The sun dawns on her ruddy cliffs
And fields green and still.
This land of long-abiding joy
Home of the strong and brave
Renowned by all, across the realms,
And never once a slave.
O sing a song of Elturel
When foes are at her door
Her fields torn by cloven feet
From some infernal shore.
Arise the mighty Hellriders
Take up your swift, keen swords
Then charge into the hellish fray
And scatter devil hordes.
O sing a song of Elturel
And when the night does fall
Sleep safe beneath Companion’s light
Until the dawn does call.
We’re bound by mortal covenant
That only ends with death
And so we’ll sing of Elturel
Until our final breath.
The bartender will look at the young Wizard, "Did you cause this?"
