Goblin A wakes in a flash of golden bronze flame. No sooner does it return to consciousness than a fair-haired gnome leaps out of the bushes and cuts down both goblins with deadly precision.
The stream burbles; a light breeze rustles leaves. You hear no sounds of commotion from within the cave.
Vasha watches and nods, suitably impressed with the gnome’s display. He makes his way toward the cave entrance to regroup with the others, keeping a low profiles and a watchful gaze.
Nyli wipes the blood off her blades before sheathing her sword and dagger and rejoining the others. "That went well. I think we're still undetected and I'd prefer to keep it that way so I'll go in and see what's waiting. With luck I may have some local help." She looks around at the bushes and trees "The rest of you can keep an eye out for anything coming up the trail." She chuckles "Feel free to rush in if I start yelling!"

Before she goes rushing into the cave Chase will try to get close enough to pat her shoulder, "Really nice work! If you need me I'll be listening right here." Chase give Nyli a touch of guidance as she is about to enter. 3
"Now if I didn't know better, I'd a thought Nyli didn't want help ... although she is pretty damn good in a scrap," Dunkin mumbled. Yet, knowing that his nimbleness and lightness of foot should help him to also quietly gather intelligence, he hurried to catch up to the incorrigible gnome.
"Do you cook in the cave? Does the smoke have a way out like a chimney or a hole in the ceiling?" If Big Sneeze says yes then maybe Vasha can take her and check it out just in case it gives a bird's eye view on an enemy.
Chase continues to give Nyli a couple of minutes then he will head in as well.

Nyli hisses at Dunkin "Put the damn torch out! Are you trying to give us away!"
She waits for a few seconds for her eyes to recover from the glare. "For now, stay here while I see what's ahead. And if anybody else tries to come in tell them to stop. The last thing we need is everybody clomping about."
John launches a crossbow bolt at the only remaining goblin, Big-Sneeze. It lands with a thump in the tree trunk just above her head. She flinches, eyes wide, and immediately stops trying to chew through her gag.

"Eats them raw, we do," says Big-Sneeze (if Chase removes her gag). "Tastes better that way. But Klarg likes fire. Yes, very smoky in his cave. Goes somewhere it does."
The goblin cave is situated at the base of a hill. It would be easy to climb the area facing you above the cave entrance. You see no smoke rising from the hilltop, but a DC 20 (Wisdom) Perception check reveals:
There is a narrow opening through which the smoke from Klarg's cooking fire goes. A small creature might be able to squeeze through. Peering down reveals only soot-covered stone, but a listener can the muffled conversation of several goblins and a bugbear.

Just inside the cave mouth, a few uneven stone steps lead up to a small, dank chamber on the east side of the passage. The cave narrows to a steep fissure at the far end, and is filled with the stench of animals. Savage snarls and the sounds of rattling chains greet your ears where three wolves are chained up just inside the opening. Each wolf’s chain leads to an iron rod driven into the base of a stalagmite. Nyli, and Dunkin, the wolves notice neither of you. Nyli, you can see that their noses are not even sniffing an unfamiliar scent, and they seem to be more interested in barking at each other than paying attention to their surroundings.
OOC:
The entrance and the wolf cave are dimly lit. The rest of the cave is dark.
As Nyli goes, Dunkin whispers, “So far this matches Big Sneeze’s map. Don’t forget she showed Sildar was held on the left. Mebbe’ that first turn just up ahead?”
Nyli watches the wolves for a few moments to make sure they aren't paying attention to anything in particular. Before moving further in she glances back and sees Chase and Vasha moving into the cave. With a sigh and muttering under her breath she heads back out of the cave signalling them to follow her.
Once out of the cave she glares at both of them and Dunkin, and snarls "What part of don't come into the cave don't you understand?" She pauses daring any of them to answer. She continues in a scarily controlled and calm manner "Just to make it clear, in case any of you have other ideas STAY. OUT. OF. THE. CAVE!"
Taking a deep breath, she continues in a gentler tone "I am trying to see what we face. I will be able to do that a lot easier if I'm not having to worry about somebody behind me tripping over a stone."
"Our first problem is a cave with wolves. For now I should be able to get past them and see if there's anything waiting that will hear us attack the wolves." She stops for a moment. "Doldek, do you have a magical way to take them out quietly? Put them to sleep or hypnotise them or something? Not straight-away, but when I come back out."
Nyli heads back to the cave to see what's beyond the wolves pen.
Vasha scoffs, his brief admiration for Nyli's skill with a blade quickly fading under the weight of her sharp words. Her tone grates on him, her command to stay out echoing in his ears. Leaning casually against the rough stone of the cave entrance, he pulls out a rag and begins to clean his greatsword, each stroke deliberate and measured. His expression remains impassive, but there's a tightness around his eyes, a flicker of irritation that he doesn't bother to hide.
She wants to do this alone, no problem
He continues to casually wipe the blade, ignoring the tension building, and leaving his further intentions unclear.
As they wait near the entrance, Dunkin whispers to the remaining adventurers. "Looks like Big Sneeze was right so far. Any ideas how we might handle this situation? I think it'd be good to have a plan, and any information Nyli brings back can only help."
"If she comes back," he thinks.
"What do ya' think about my idea to block the right cave entrance with my Move Earth cantrip? I also think my Ice Knife spell can deal lots of damage to a group if'n I can do it away from the party. Don't want youz to be hurt."he says.
"It is doubtful that a single casting would affect all three wolves, and the act of casting would alert the unaffected. With only enough arcane energy for two spells of such power, I would suggest we deal with the beasts in a more ahem primitive manner...Though I must admit I feel some moral pangs about using lethal force against creatures which are already restrained. Perhaps providing them with fresh meat would occupy their mouths as we pass through? Or perhaps the smoke vent would allow us to circumvent them?"
