Celeste wiggles her fingers, stepping forward a few feet and then takes up position. She draws her celestial bow, peering down her sights to the beast directly ahead. As she has many times before, she swiftly releases two vibrant arrows in quick succession. As if one's guiding the other, it streaks through like a shooting star.

Vanizi shifts her Hex then launches two bolts at the Barlgura (blue) she is able to see, as she casts Eldritch Blast.

Davis opens the secret door and sees the two brutes standing there. Before he realizes it, the entire party runs by him or shoots missiles past his head. "Wake Up!" he thinks to himself, looking over at the metal plates.. He then yells out "Charge!", hoping that no one saw how slow he was to react.

He will move into the room, directly between the Barlgura. [square next to the C on the map]

He will join in on the blue Barlgura, until it falls, the move to the next.

Round 1 (con't - updated map):

• Zylynne: Rages and rushes in. Although the room is too small to let her grow to her full giant size (the demons are large creatures!) she still manages to make two massive hits on the first (blue) ape-like monster.
• Katarina: moves past the big fairy to engage the other (green) demon, missing her first attack but hitting with the second swing. 
• Vesta: moves to the end of the passage and, peering around the corner, fires of a flurry of magical missiles at the green demon!
• Celeste: sends a radiant bolt down the secret passage, managing to miss her companions, and hits the blue demon with the first. Unfortunately, the second lodges itself in the frame of the secret door...
• Vanizi: launches two eldritch bolts at the demon, but neither manage to hit the thing.
• Davis: charges in and makes a demon/paladin sandwich, slashing away at the blue demon and bringing it down!
• Barlgura: the green demon is focused on the tabaxi barbarian, pounding at her with its fists and biting at her with its fangs.

Vesta watches with dismay as the strange creature really tears into Katarina. Angry, the sorcerer decides to see how the creature likes fire.

I will also use my Elemental Affinity to Fire to add 5 points of damage to that first damage roll.

Zyl can't get to the other baddie since she's all big and stuff but she CAN throw her weapon at it! Angrily, of course.

Attack 1: 28 to hit, 11 + 5 (elemental cleaver) + 3 (rage bonus) = 19 thunder (+3 more from Giant's Havoc: Crushing Throw? I'm not sure if this is additional or instead of rage bonus)

Attack 2: 28 to hit, 16 + 4 (elemental cleaver) + 3 (rage bonus) = 23 thunder (+3 more like above if that works)

(I'm assuming that the demon does bludgeoning damage).

With each attack that lands, the wild magic around Katarina lashes out, dealing Force damage.

The demon takes 4 + 1 + 4 Force damage.

Then the wild cat attacks recklessly at the demon twice.

Crystal Longsword vs. Green
Attack: 28 (NAT 20!); Damage: 22 (magical slashing) + 11 (radiant)
Attack: 26; Damage: 9 (magical slashing) + 3 (radiant)

The party quickly finishes off the other barlgura demon, a whirlwind of death moving almost flawlessly through the area! (Combat over!) Searching the area, you see that the demons were scratching out the names on the memorial plates with their claws.

The passage to the west ends in a door (#4) with a sturdy padlock on it - like the ones from the other two cells. The keys you took from the cult mages in C14 open the lock easily! On the other side of this door is another 15'x15' crypt, which smells like a sewer. A woman sits on a mattress atop a low shelf, her once-fine clothing in tatters and a silk scarf wrapped around her face. She is huddled in the corner, but glares at you above the scarf. (map)

"Greetings" Davis says to the woman, "is your name Indrina by chance? If so we've been looking for you. If not, well, would you like to leave this place?"

Vanizi, who hasn't been quite sure of the name, nods as Davis speaks. "Yes, we'd be glad to help you get out of here."

"Why yes, I'm Indrina Lamsensettle. And I would REALLY like to leave this stinking crypt and return to my estate, get cleaned up, and douse myself in perfumes! By the sounds from a moment ago, I take it that you have already taken care of my guards?" she replies to Davis. She is eager to leave, but will need you to show her the way out...

"Yes, your guards have been dispatched" he says, "and we can certainly see you to the exit safely. Is there anything you can tell us about your captives, the cultists and their plans? Also are you hurt, do you need any healing?"

"And do you know anything about other captives?" Vanizi asks. She then looks at Davis. "Are there more on the list we were looking for?"

"One more Eldon Keyward, a scholar specializing in the Outer Planes" he says. "Almost there."

As you are walking her out of her cell and towards the way out of the crypt, Indrina looks a bit baffled at the mention of cultists. (Davis and Vanizi - both of you make a Persuasion check. If either or both of succeed a DC18, read the spoiler below. If not, Indrina doesn't admit to knowing anything and only talks about the various perfumes she intends to douse herself in once she gets the stench of this place off of her skin and out of her nostrils! =)

Persuasion 23

"These catacombs are a hideout for cultists of the god Vecna. You were not the only prisoner they had. I do not believe Lord Neverember was involved here. Do you have any idea why cultist would want you captured? Have you spoken with anyone while down here?"

"That is interesting information, but I do agree with Davis that this isn't likely Lord Neverember's work." 

"I thought for sure that he knew what I had discovered and wanted me silenced. But the ones who captured me did say something about 'my valuable secret.' Do you think perhaps they want to know what I know, and use it to blackmail Neverember? I do thank you all for rescuing me - I'll make sure that you have front-row seats to my next performance...a yuletide ghost story!" (Unless there are any other questions for her, you can pick up where you left off or pick one of the other doors to investigate =)

"Secret? What secret"" Zyl flutters over and pokes the lady gently. "Fairies love secrets! I bake them into brownies!"
