The stateroom is a bit cramped, so not everyone can fit in there! As the battle starts, Cirit is in the doorway calling out Ilren for his true nature as a death slaad. He, of course, knows that she knows and won't leave without a fight...(this could be an interesting role play if we were live, but it would drag out via PbP so we're just going right to combat =)
Round 1: (Tactical map) Davis (21) Cirit (18) points at Ilren and speaks a phrase in a divine language, trying to incapacitate her adversary. (Casting sleep. Ilren's DC15 WIS save: 19. If he fails, Ilren will have the Incapacitated condition until the end of its next turn...) Lyrena (16) Zylynne (14) Vanizi (11) Vesta (8) Ilren (3) Katarina (?)
Davis looks at the creature, now asleep, unsure what to do. "Shall we put it in the brig? Evil or not, I do not feel right in attacking a sleeping creature."
Davis will wait for the others, if Ilren wakes or attack, then the paladin will attack it. [Reading an attack]

Ilren DC19 Wis save for Hold Monster: 16. On a fail, the death slaad is incapacitated and paralyzed - but it gets to repeat saving throws against both spells at the end of each of its rounds.
Vanizi asks, "Do we have any way of properly restraining this slaad permanently? Probably not just rope or a simple prison cell will do. Hmm, what even should we do with him?" She mumbles to herself a moment, then suddenly says, "Banishment! He's probably from another plane, right? I mean, not many folk are native to the Astral Plane! I could cast Banishment on him. You think that would be a good idea?"
Zyl is exceptionally confused now as to what they're supposed to do, so she'll flutter around looking at stuff in the cabin until someone tells her what to do or the bad man wakes up and needs punching.
Cirit claps her hands and smiles broadly! "Yes, yes! A Banishment spell would be very effective and solve our problem without having blood on our hands. What a wonderful idea - please proceed!" (Feel free to describe the spell and result =)
With the threat resolved, Cirit calls the rest of the crewmembers aboard this section of the ship to tell them the truth about Ilren and how you all were instrumental in rescuing them from the death slaad's malicious intent. Kycera, the cook, declares that this calls for a celebration, and breaks out a few casks of expensive wine, aged to perfection in small wooden barrels. She pours drinks for all, and offers a couple to you for your travels and trials. (Think of a cask the size of a pony-keg. Plus, you're in the astral sea where you don't need food or air, and when not on an object like the ship or an asteroid you are effectively weightless =) So - headed to the prow section next?)
Vesta enjoys her glass of wine, savoring the rich taste. "Thank you, Kycera. This is wonderful," she says. "I'm glad we could rid you of the imposter aboard your vessel. Now hopefully we can rescue your captain and recover the rod piece at the same time."
Vesta will vote in favor of going to the prow section next unless anyone else wants to explore more in the aft section of the ship.
Vanizi takes her magic focus rod, makes an intricate pattern in the air with it as she chants out a series of arcane words to cast Banishment. (Target must make CHA Save DC 19 or be banished to its home plane. If banished it suddenly vanishes with a faint popping noise.)
"Heyyy neat trick! Okay what we wanna do now, we get the stick yeah? Which way?" Zyl dunks a piece of brownie in her cup of expensive wine and starts walking.
Vanizi seems pleased that her spell was successful. "Hopefully he enjoys his home plane!" she says, placing away her rod and picking up a glass of the wine. She makes short work of it and is ready to continue their investigation. "To the prow, yes."

It's about 600 feet to the prow section - you can either 'fly' through the silvery atmosphere or walk along the partially fossilized body of the dead god that the Lambent Zenith collided with. The prow section of the ship is partially embedded in what looks like the chest and ribcage of the dead god.
Lyrena opts for the airborne route. If they're going to be spending time in the Astral Plane, it'd be good to get comfortable with it. Though not so comfortable that she'll unthinkingly try and do it once they're out of here.
Davis hesitantly dips one of Zyl's brownies in the wine, and then takes a bite. His face is unreadable, as he puts down both the brownie and the glass of wine.
"OK gang, when your ready, let's head to the Prow." Listening to the others recommendations, he agrees. "Lets fly there, it will give us the best view of our surroundings. We can go slow, it's not too far away. Hopefully we can find the captain or have Vanizi dispel the glyph, get the rod piece and head back home, where we can enjoy some of Kycera's wine and toast a job well done!"
[I'm assuming someone(s) have a bag of holding or a way to stash a few pony kegs of wine? :) ]

"He won't be asleep for long," says Vesta. "I'll restrain him."
Using her Staff of Power, she casts Hold Monster on "Ilren" aka the death slaad (hoping that counts as a monster?)

Zyl likes flying so she'll fly but stay low to the "ground" on the way. Still licking her lips from her last brownie too of course.
Davis hesitantly dips one of Zyl's brownies in the wine, and then takes a bite. His face is unreadable, as he puts down both the brownie and the glass of wine.

Vanizi would prefer to 'fly' and perhaps avoid any dangerous creatures on the surface.
