"At least inside we would be safe from flying monsters. Maybe" Davis says. "Perhaps we find a nice place to take a short rest too? I could use a breather."
Davis gets the sense that they are in the right general vicinity of the rod - but as you've discovered before, you don't get a precise location...
You head down from the upper forecastle (Z14a) to the main deck (Z14b). The forward portion of the ship is jammed into the body of the dead god, impaling its heart. A broken section of the mast blocks the starboard door (right side facing forward), and the door to port (left side facing forward) is locked. There is a set of steep steps leading down into the prow section. If you have a passive Perception score of 13 or higher:
When you approach the door, you can hear someone moving about and talking inside.
Lyrena holds up a hand to signal the others to stop. "There is someone in there," she says lowly. "Someone talking, so there may be more than just them."
Vesta marvels at the heart of this giant creature, this god. It's still beating, even impaled by the prow of a ship. She tries to recall if she knows anything more about this particular god or if it is still alive somehow, and if so, how? She is so preoccupied with studying the heart that she doesn't notice anyone speaking up ahead until Lyrena warns them.
Vesta recalls ancient tales of a dying god known only as Havock. Once a god of chaos, it once had eight legs and two heads that each held a single, unblinking eye. As Havock lost worshipers and power over millennia, its power and lifeforce dissipated, causing its body to die and its legs and heads to snap off. Now Havock’s petrified form is hundreds of miles long and weighs thousands of tons, destined to drift forever in the Astral Sea.
The room goes silent at Vesta's knock, and a moment later, you hear a female voice call out, "Who goes there? If yer raiders, then there's only death to find here..."
You hear the click of a deadbolt lock disengaging, then see the door open about a foot. Standing the gap and blocking the door from opening further is a deva. Her right leg below her knee is a wood-and-metal prosthetic, and from her back extends a single massive, white-feathered wing. She looks at each of you with piercing blue eyes, so pale they are almost ice-white. In that moment you feel as if you have been weighed and measured - and likely found wanting...
"Aye, I am the captain of the Lambent Zenith, Inda Malayuri. We've encountered raiders attempting to pillage the wreck, so you understand why I must be wary of strangers. I don't know about this Ilren character, but if you helped my crew, then I am grateful. Come on in and tell me your tale."
With that, she opens the door to grant you admittance to her cabin. You see clothes are tossed over chair backs, and open books are strewn across tables. You also spot a finely crafted shortsword lying on the bedside table, along with a golden ring and a strange-looking lantern.
Vesta enters the cabin and takes a look around. Her eyes keep being drawn back to the deva though and her giant, impressive wing. It seems there were even more celestial beings about on the Lambent Zenith. It made sense though, being in the Astral Sea and all. They were probably more common here than on the Material Plane. Still, Vesta has to bite back the millions of questions that pop into her mind at the sight of yet another new and interesting being.
"I understand your caution," Vesta begins. "My companions and I are looking for a piece of a magical rod. We believe it's somewhere in the prow of the ship. On our way here we encountered members of your crew but also someone called Ilren. He was pretending to be a giff and had taken charge in your absence. We were able to banish him back to his home plane with the aid of another celestial."

Lyrena stares at the brownie. She’s pretty sure you’re not supposed to take food from fey. It looks really good, though. She opts to decline.
When they reach the prow, she’ll cast Detect Magic.
Davis will also try and get a better direction of the rod piece also.

Lyrena tries to make out what the voice is saying.
Perception: 24
Lyrena doesn't hear anything being said - it's more of the sound of somebody pacing around the cabin...
Love God. Love Others. Any Questions?
Vesta murmurs the name Havock to herself and slowly gains awareness that there may be someone up ahead.
"Perhaps it's the Captain," she says, deciding to knock politely on the door as Vanizi suggested.

"Nope! We're looking for a fancy stick though! And I got brownies if you want one!" Zyl pipes up after the voice calls out.
Vanizi laughs at Zyl's answer, hoping the brownies might entice whoever is behind the door. "The brownies are really good!" she adds helpfully.

(Two of you can make a Persuasion check - I'll take the higher of the scores. This is similar to rolling with Advantage =)
