"Kyreth, keep a watch out," Exa whispers to her companion, gesturing to where Hannah had just left. She had mischief in her eyes.
With the front room momentarily empty, Exa moves to quickly search through the student robes left for washing. She is looking for anything that might be useful for the night's job: maps, assignments, timetables, identification documents, guest lists, etc.
“My sincerest apologies, darling,” he says, his tone playful and brimming with excitement as he approaches Delilah. “But I do bring news worth the wait.”
Leaning in slightly, voice lowered, he informs her of the unguarded hall from the cafe leading to the old storage space and skylight. "A perfect vantage point over the gemstone wing—tables set, jewels glittering. I didn’t try the lock, but I suspect our associates could make short work of it.” He straightens, smug and pleased.
"And this you think makes up for your belatedness?" The young dark-haired lady says, still pouting and not yet turning to face the tiefling, but there is a hint of a playful undercurrent there.
The bard steps beside Delilah and gently presses the tiny allosaurus model into her hand with a smirk. “I have more—I’ve the seed of a song,” he adds, unclasping his viol case and drawing the instrument out.
With a soft pull of the bow, a mournful, melodic note sings into the air. “Picture it,” he says, eyes gleaming with the spin of inspiration, “a lone allosaurus, trapped forever in the muckmire, separated from the only thing that mattered—his beloved child, still nestled in the egg. They are near, but never reunited.” He plays a few more notes, gentle and haunting. “People adore a sad story. Especially the noble types. Gets them clutching their pearls and loosening their purses.”
The tourists pause to listen to Mavilius, a few wiping away tears, so strongly did his music pull on the heartstrings. Then there was a clatter of coins at his feet and some applause.

Exa worked swiftly and found only one useful thing in amongst hankies and robes, a printed request for the student to be absent from the University for the gala. Whilst she was doing that Kyreth kept his eye on the Vat room and watched Hannah place the clothing into the third Vat. He could hear a gurgling noise as the Vat on the right was drained down. They were going to be busy today.
Delilah stepped out of the way as a woman in a Security dress uniform walks quickly up the steps, 3 others on her tail. They all look well rested and on the ball. Could she learn anything from the security team apart from that the leader was Maryam Bikram, an ex watch captain, decorated for bravery? She still didn't know who was on duty tonight, though she felt sure that she'd just seen some of them.
"Excellent," Exa whispers to herself as she pockets the permission slip excusing 'her' from the classes to attend the gala. Just in case anyone needs extra convincing of her disguise.
"Thank you so much, ladies. You've been gems," she calls to the back room before giving Kyreth a nod and heading for the door with her new robes tucked under her arm.
"Well that is so sweet of you, I've always wanted a little creepy lizard for my collection of museum nonsense." The young dark-haired lady says as she looks down at the model pressed into her graceful hands, her words dripping with sarcasm.
As he explains his seed of a song, she merely laughs softly at the ridiculous but fairly amusing story, then giving the people applauding the few notes an incredulous look. "Yes, you are clearly able to entertain the simple minded, let's hope you are as successful at the gala tonight." She says with a pleased smile, still not quite facing the tiefling. "Now, I was considering fraternizing a bit with the head of the security who I believe just passed here, care to join me for some more socializing and show off your talents a bit more before you escort me back? Perhaps if inspired enough she will be able to share details about the close security around the stone." She goes on as she hands back the small model. "Or perhaps she will accept that as a bribe?" She adds with a small scoff.
Looking closely you notice a small door on the rear of the tiny allosaurus, opening it you find some miniature levers, the allosaurus is a small animatronic made by rock gnomes. As she moved the levers the toy starts to move backwards and forwards. Ah if only the Allosaurus was one as well. Mavilius looked surprised as you handed it back to him.
Captain Bikram headed straight towards the secretarys office the records room V6 followed by her three guards. Another guard pops his head out of the break room next door V7, Bikram calls all the guards to join her, and sweeps them all inside ahead of her. She closes the door.
The door to the guards break room however lies open. As Delilah walks near the records room she gets a familiar tingling showing that there is an alarm here as well. Sadly her hearing wasn't up to eavesdropping. She noticed that there are no security guards at the entrance any more, you have a short time to explore the empty room, or send Thistle in to riffle through it.
(Mavilius used Bardic Inspiration on Delilah during his performance. Is 1d6 enough to make her eavesdropping attempt successful?)
Mavilius blinks down at the tiny marching allosaurus now pacing back and forth in his palm, golden eyes wide with delight. “Well now, they didn’t mention he could walk,” he murmurs with a grin, watching the mechanical legs shuffle with precise, charming little clicks. “If I’d known, I’d have asked him to play percussion for me.”
He looks back up at Delilah, amusement dancing in his expression as he carefully tucks the toy into his cloak and follows. “Of course I'll join you. And afterward...remind me to check how ambitious they were with the big version upstairs.”
DM OOC Delilah would have to roll a perception check, then add the 1d6 if she chose to try her luck. For once the passive isn't high enough for the door. You could both try.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Delilah & Thistle
"Hah, that would certainly be an amusing distraction if the monstrous thing on the second floor started to stomp around outside the gemstone wing just as the Murkmire stone was presented and exposed." The young dark-haired lady says with an amused smile and nods.
Once inside the museum again Thistle would if possible quickly follow the last guard inside the secretary's office to drop some eaves on the conversation there, hoping to hear instructions for the gala given out and perhaps find out how the guards and others move about whithout setting off any alarms. Meanwhile Delilah would take a quick look around inside the guard's break room, possibly joined by her gallant escort.
He just managed to squeeze through the door as Maryam closed it. He shifted around to find somewhere to sit in view of the maps spread over the desks He watched as Maryam pointed out the security for the evening.
Receiving guests at the Grand Entrance will be herself and Grendor Battleaxe. The two guards for the Gemstone wing would be Sareena Shu and Violet Pendergilt. Patrolling on the second floor would be Vanth, Blackwaters, Van Lichter and Dhanvhal.
The first floor security alarms will be on, except all of those in the entrance and stairs. All security personal, the curator and the Museum secretary have magical pass cards which allow full movement
This was just what his mistress wanted, soon he'd get back to her.
Boxes of display supplies are stacked into this room's corners. Chairs surround a circular table in the middle. The walls are floor to ceiling shelves, those near the door have small drawers in. At the back of the room is another door a sign on its says basement. This was the planned entry route for the Zhents with their workmans passes.
The small drawers look well used, one was still partially open, and below them a map of the Museum is pinned.
Thistle messages his report and is directed to stay in the secretary's office for now, hopefully having it to himself soon when he would be able to look around for more information, particularly regarding security measures and magical pass cards.
In the guard breakroom Delilah tells her escort to keep a lookout for magical pass cards as they quickly go through what has not yet been searched. She would then return to the foyer area to discuss a next step.
In the half open drawer you find a short note saying Spare alarm pass cards, and under that scrap of note you find 3 cards engraved with the Museums logo. Delilah feels a tingle on the cards, magic all right. She takes the lot and gently shuts the drawer. No-one will be searching for them tonight.
The door opens but makes a low creaking sound. Steps lead down into a musty basement. Boxes and crates are piled here in groups. Enormous warehouse doors take up much of the basements northern wall. The doors are locked.
A slight light can be seen in the basements northwest corner. Mavilius touches it , then knocks on it. It seems to be a door but how he opens it he can't say. However it would suggest some kind of sliding mechanism.

The small animatronic marched up and down. He wondered how real the toy was. Had gnomes also created controls for the full sized one upstairs?
