OOC: I think that Nif totaled the Blue Wolf, in which case Karl goes for the red wolf.
Karl moves to E9 and grabbing the Red wolf by the tail yelling out "come to Uncle Karl little puppy" he pulls it into a bear hug before lifting it above his head.

There's no way Red could avoid being grappled by Karl with that roll, so it's automatic.
Round 5: Bron (0/12, unconscious: 0 saves/0 fails) • Blue (0/9) & Orange (0/12) • Green (0/11) • Red (grappled, 6/7) • Black (1/11) • Karl (7/16) & Nif (10/10) • Einar (13/16) • A?? • I?? & Vondal (0/12, unconscious: 2 saves/1 fail)
Bron, go ahead and make your first death saving throw, but I'm going to continue with Red's grapple rolls. If you roll a natural 20, go ahead and take your turn as well.
Karl, roll a STR check to try to maintain your grapple on Red.
Red's DEX roll: 19
After Einar's attempt to fight off the medium-sized (black) wolf, he and Karl begin to hear more sounds, this time coming from the southwest. It sounds like creatures hurrying through the trees and brush and not working very hard to be stealthy.

Karl's (red) wolf attempts to break free of his grasp, but learning from his last mistake, he doesn't give the wolf any room to escape.
The (black) wolf at Einar's feet once again attempts to take a chunk out of the dwarf. (Attack: 7) Fortunately for him, he's once again able to use his makeshift shield to deflect the canine's attack.
With renewed room to maneuver, Einar quickly snaps his shield to the left just as the big wolf hits it, causing its body to spin just enough for Einar to easily land his hatchet at the base of the beast's skull, severing it from the spine.
OOC: If at the end of his turn all the wolves are dead, Einar will back up to square H7 and call out toward the SW, "Who goes there? Show yourself!"

Karl throws the wolf he is holding above his head at the rock outcrop. The wolf smashes into the rock outcrop, yelps once and then doesn't move!
Does Karl miss the ground 27
Well Karl clearly managed to hit the ground with the wolf but I have no idea how much damage (i.e. dice to roll). Whatever it is, it is doubled and then '7' added.
Breaking through the trees is an ashen giant wolf spider. It skitters forward on its long, hairy legs a few feet and stops. Its many eyes seem to take in Einar, Karl, and the wolves' bodies. Two heartbeats later, a brown-haired and pale-skinned female half-elf and a blond haired and bearded human male almost leap out of the trees. The female has an arrow readied, but pointed at the ground. The man is brandishing a rapier. They look about for action and then seem to deflate at the scene. "Is everyone ... OK?" the man asks. "Revanthas," the woman says quietly. The wolf spider backs up, maneuvering behind her obediently. She has put away her weapon and placed her hands on her hips, looking at Einar and Karl with raised eyebrows. The man stands with his rapier still out, also looking at the dwarves, but in a dejected kind of way as he breathes heavily.
We are out of combat. As soon as the female is made aware of Vondal and Bron, she will heal them.
Einar shouts somewhat incredulously back at the man.
"We wer just nearly overrun by a pack of wolves! You think we bloody look alright?!?!"
As he speaks the last line, he motions with his hatchet in the direction of his fallen allies, but he maintains a defensive posture with his shield in front of him.

Just out of curiosity: 11.
Vondal awakens coughing blood what little blood found itself in the dwarf's lungs, and clutching his neck for the first few seconds. "Wha-... *cough*… Where did... any of you..." His eyes go wide as they land on half-elf. It takes a second or two more, but eventually the dark-skinned dwarf shakes himself out a stupor. "Aren't you.. *clears throat*.. vision." Vondal smiles weakly before his attention finally turns to look for the others.
"Brother? Ein-..."He trails off with a sigh of relief, only for it turn into another small bout of coughing. "I don't know all that happened, but you two-..."Vondal raises a brow at the giant spi… His eyes weren't... No, that was definitely... Vondal raises one shaky finger to the creature, sputtering "spi" a number of times, and then finally passing promptly right back out after his eyes nearly rolling back into his skull.

When you realize you're doing too much: Signature.
Karl turns from having just flung the wolf against the rock and sticks out a hand covered in wolf slobber, then looks at it and tries to shake some of the slobber off, before saying "Karl's the name!"
The half-elf ignores Einar and moves over to Vondal, laying a hand on the dwarf and speaking in Elvish, "May the Mother heal your wounds and grant you strength." Indeed, Vondal's neck wound does close sufficiently to no longer be a mortal wound, and some of his energy returns. She stands and walks to Bron, her eyes watching Nif as she moves. She heals Bron as well and then returns to her companion's side. The giant wolf spider had not moved.
While this is going on, the human gives Einar a big grin as he sheathed his weapon. "Looks like you managed," he says with almost a laugh in his voice. After Karl introduces himself, the human takes his arm. "Ange. Ange Rapidsnarl." His eyes move to the female as she tends to the fallen. "That's Ilexaris," he says as if trying to keep her from hearing him.
As Vondal sputters, the group looks over at him. After he falls silent again, Ange looks at the spider. "Oh, and that's Revanthas. He obeys Lexi's commands explicitly, so unless you're a threat, you don't need to worry about him. Her." He looks back at the dwarves. "I'm not really sure of the sex."
Einar tenses slightly as Ilexaris moves toward Vondal, but he keeps his attention on Ange, as he is the one still holding his weapon. He rolls his eyes slightly at Karl's complete lack of any caution. As Ilexaris' magic heals Vondal's wounds and she heads to tend to Bron, Einar begins to relax a bit, but he still keeps his shield up.
"While ye may have been late to the action, we're grateful fer yer help with the healing. It's not somethin' any of us are well practiced in. What brings the three of ya out this way at this time of the night?"
As he speaks the last line, Einar moves over to Vondal to attempt to reawaken him.
