Vondal gives Nif one last long, stern yet worrying look. Then with a final pat on the shoulder, he made ready to help with the camp. This time he tries to guide things towards the group being a bit closer to the oxen. Though he doesn't push it. And when it came down to second watch, he'll make sure to wake Zander to join him for it. If not shortly into it then definitely near its end Vondal asks,"You're... no cleric.. aren't you?"
Vondal's Perception Check - Second Watch: 13. Advantage roll in spoiler if Zander would count as such.
(Also, had to switch from last to second realizing that Einar usually took the last one in order to be prepared to take care of the oxen. Though if I'm wrong, please feel free to correct me.)

"But you are curious about it, no? It is why you are so far away from any city?" Vondal asks appearing more keenly interested now having heard the word 'divine'. A moment later however, he grimaces and looks away to focus on actually keeping watch. "I am sorry. That might've been too personal. It's just... before this trip started, my interactions with that sort of thing were limited, if you can believe it."He admits. "Sure, we had our holy men and woman back home and in the deep. My sister, in fact, knew the touch of divine more intimately... though she refused to talk about it much."

"No, no. My journey has to do with something else, though my powers are still the reason. Think about this for a second. If you are the head of a respectable noble family, and your son all of a sudden starts screaming and erupting with strange power, blowing apart a servant who came to check on him, you most likely wouldn't think twice about kicking him out of the house, would you? Well, no worries, I was about ready to move out anyways."
He chuckles and leans back, but it is clear that his laugh holds no humor, and his smile is devoid of happiness.

"Actually, I would." By a stark comparison Vondal's following chuckle is full of mirth. But he is mindful to reign in for the sake of his brothers. "But then, I am a dwarf. "And while such loss would burdened the heart, we gold dwarves are not as fatalistic as our cousins tend to be. Or so careless as to abandon one of our own knowing such power dwelt within."He starts tugging at his beard, and lowered his gaze to the ground. "Such actions are what risk the creation of monsters, or worse... I could regale you with more, but to do so would not change anything... and it is not what you need to make true peace with it." Vondal grins and looks up to the sky next. "But what does a dwarf who hasn't seen his first full century know, eh?"

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
OK, we're going to call it a night. I have realized that I awarded too much XP for the first wolf encounter. You should have only received 50 XP. So, you received 50 XP for the first wolf encounter, 75 XP for the goblin encounter and discovering the goblins' hideout, and finally 275 XP for clearing the goblin hideout and rescuing Sildar. So, you should each have a total of 400 XP. Fix your XP, hit that long rest button, and then make any level 2 adjustments to your character you need to make.
The night goes by without incident. Packing up goes quickly as everyone is ready to get to Phandalin. The wagon is just getting going when two figures dressed in plate mail step out of the woods and block the road. Einar is able to get the oxen to stop only 15 feet shy of the figures. As the noise of the wagon stopping quiets, a voice comes from behind. "Now Klarg teach little bugs a lesson."
Where would everyone be? Who's on the wagon? I'm assuming Einar is driving, but it doesn't have to be that way. I know he's not here; I'll control him through this battle.
Belatedly.. Oh? Hm. In that case, I might just do that in the future one way or another. Though it depends on how things go... and if he survives this next encounter.
Before the group had continued on with their journey that morning, the Gold Dwarf held true to form by going through his exercises. But something was different this time around. His movements were less sluggish, he struck at the air more often, and expression carried a sense of focus that was once only reserved for tinkering over the past few years. Stranger still, Vondal tossed his sandals onto the cart, fully intending to walk the remaining distance barefoot...
Vondal starts at the noise, and with a curse he goes to pull the handaxe from his belt as he whipped around to look behind from the back right-hand side of the wagon. "Ambush! Sildar! Brothers! Take care."
(@DDP Not sure if I can/need to roll perception but if so, let me know?)

First watch: Karl, 14 & Nif, 8
Second watch: Vondal, 13 & Zander?
Third watch: Einar? He hasn't been on DDB since Nov. 23. I hope everything's OK.

Not gonna lie. If multi-classing was allowed, and after everything that happened, I was half-way tempted to have Vondal go Barbarian.

Multiclassing is allowed. As before, though, if you're stepping into magic, it needs to make sense.
