OOC: I'm going to say that the battle was lit due to the glowing mist but now it's only dim light from the rising dawn and Flint as well as others without dark vision are going to have a hell of a time finding anything else and will roll with disadvantage on any more checks involving vision! You guys could resettle, everyone's essentially rested, and spells will reset here at sunrise!
"Thank you," Gen replies to the half-orc with a soft smile. "What...what are your names," she asks looking around the group. "I am Geneva Ballard," she replies offering her hand to the half-orc to shake still gripping her staff in the other.
Nam tells the tiger to stay, then walks over to Gen “my apologies for earlier, my name is Nam’nha. Everyone calls me Nam” he tells her putting his hand out to shake.

Garrett listens to what is happening with Gen. As he hears her story and Isk makes his promise to her he smiles. He walks to where her father lay and picks up the staff, the one that seemed more than just a staff, perhaps some sort of heirloom and makes his way to where Gen is.
As he approaches he hands her the staff. "I'm sure he would want you to have this. It looks like it was important to him. I'm Garrett, Garrett Blackstone. When I'm done looking at this," He lifts the spell book up, "You can have it back. He would probably want you to have it as well. Perhaps one day you can put it to use."
Garrett then looks around at the others.
"Its not even daylight yet. We have another day until the maze opens as it won't not open until midnight. I say we gather what supplies we can find here yet and then head back to camp. We need to go over everything we know about this maze and make a plan. A map would be helpful but we don't have one so we'll have to figure things out ourselves."
As he finishes Athene silently appears and lands on his shoulder.
"Welcome back Athene, what have you seen and found out there?"
OOC: What was the result of Athene's investigation roll of 17?
Aethene sees the approaching dawn and nothing but bodies. As if all who camped south of the maze died by the mist. Only Gen and your party remain alive!
Gen smiles at Garret. "This was my cousin Dedrick's focus. A family heirloom to be sure but I don't train in necormancy," she says. "I...I need help burying them," she then says to the group as the sun breaks over the mountains in the east. "Its nice to meet all of you friends. Can I ask for this last favour their gear can be your gifts," she adds.
OOC: the man beaten beyond reckoning with the dagger was her father Paladin!

Sometimes a Nat 1 tells a better story than a Nat 20 ever could.
Flint, returning to the girl empty-handed because it was too dark to find anything else of use will remove his helmet and give the girl a nod. "I will help you bury your loved ones...." a serious and knowing look on his face. "I uhh... I know how you are feeling... " he will say to her, removing his glove again and placing it on her shoulder. "I lost my wife... my two grown children... and many of my closest friends all in one night as well... a night much like this one in a way...."Flint would say, his eye appearing to shimmer a bit in the rising sun. "All you can do is keep pushing forward... push forward and keep living... and try to make choices in life that you think that they would be proud of." he would say, giving her a pat on the back before moving towards the bodies and positioning them under a large tree. Without a shovel, Flint would simply remove his kettle helm and begin using his powerful gloved hands to drive the helmet into the ground... scooping large chunks of damn loose dirt from the dewy ground as the sun begins to rise behind him.
As the sun peeks over the mountains Gen calls out to Flint.
"Please...I just need them moved," Gen says lifting up her staff and casts mold earth opening over and over 5ft long graves until it hold all six of her family ans friends. "I..." she falters, "thank you," she adds.
OOC: For the sake of brevity those who want to help bring Gen's family to the grave she dug just post a yes or no. We'll then move on!
Karnic will stand up, feeling much better after the prayer, and dust himself off. Looking at Geneva he says, "I am Karnic a cleric of Lliira. My condolences for the loss of your loved ones." He will then proceed help with moving the remains into the graves, and place a large stone at the head of each one. Once finished, he will stand by Geneva and say to her, "Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us everyday, unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed and very dear." Karnic will then turn to the graves and in a louder voice say the following prayer over them.
"Death is nothing at all. It does not count. I have only slipped away into the next room. Everything remains as it was. The old life that we lived so fondly together is untouched, unchanged. Whatever we were to each other, that we are still. Call me by the old familiar name. Speak of me in the easy way which you always used. Put no sorrow in your tone. Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes that we enjoyed together. Play, smile, think of me, pray for me. Let my name be ever the household word that it always was. Let it be spoken without effort Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was. There is unbroken continuity. Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight? I am but waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just around the corner. All is well. Nothing is hurt; nothing is lost. One brief moment and all will be as it was before. How we shall laugh at the trouble of parting, when we meet again."
After Karnic's kind words Gen moves the earth over them. She then druidcraft snowdrops over their grave. She then says some words in druidic then moves towards the party's campfire still flickering at the campsite.

Isk sits down by the fire next to Gen and offers her some water saying, "Wish it was something a little harder. Forgot to pick up real provisions before we were booted out of town." He smiles and shrugs his shoulders. "So, you and your family, you came here for your mother's remains, why did she come here?"
"Her people sent her to conquer the maze," Gen replies waving off Isk's water. "I...I have my own rations and I don't drink spirits," she adds with a soft nod.

"My mother was an elf sir Isk. They did not want a half-breed among them. She brought shame on her family by having me and I believe the maze was her punishment! My cousin Gunulf came to us when he too was cast out for dabbling in death magic and sent to the maze," she explains settling down as her companion flutters down to her shoulders.

Isk's smile fades for a moment as he says, "I, too, know that struggle. Orc raids are common where I am from, it was...not easy...growing up, " He trails off before the smile returns to his face, "But, Torm's justice finds a way, doesn't it? He empowers some to bring it about and other's to punish those who would deny it."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Isk takes a drink from his water, "I'm going to see what I can find in the other camps and then take a little rest before tonight's activities."
Isk will spend a while searching through the other camps looking for hard drink, whiskey in particular, but ale would do fine as well, thinking "We might have missed the boat on this, but surely some of these others didn't." He will also be looking for potions, given that they may be in similar containers as the whiskey, but his focus will be on the spirits.
