You arrive at Sloobludop from the South, which is enclosed to by outer "walls" of heavy netting with sharp bone hooks woven into them. In the middle of the wall is a gate that appears to be guarded by a number of armed Kuo-toa.
As you approach, Shuushar advances to the head of the group and raises his right arm, acknowledging the guards and begins to speak in Common to the other Kuo-toa.
Shuushar - "Greetings. I have returned from the Drow prison-camp by the grace of our Sea Mother and with the protection of these adventurers. They mean no harm to us and have proven themselves to be allies."
Lowering their weapons, they wave Shuushar through. You all follow behind him and enter the village.
Shuushar continues walking through the village towards the Shrine of the Sea Mother's.
A nine-foot-tall statue stands here, its body is roughly carved from some kind of wood in the shape of a humanoid female. its head and forearms formed from the severed head and claws ora giant albino crayfish. These parts are lashed on with strands of gut and emit an overpowering stench at rotting shellfish. Shells, brightly colored stories, mushrooms, and rotting fish are piled at the feet of the statue and strung in garlands around its neck. Four stern Kuo-toa slowly circle the statue. alert and on guard, while you see a few others millingabout, gazing up at the statue and bowing repeatedly while chanting.
Shuushar - "Please, wait here for a moment. They would be wary of strangers at first due to the tensions between they and the Deep Father worshippers. I will ease their concern."
Shuushar approaches a decorated male (you think) Kuo-toa that sits atop a small hovel adjacent to the shrine and attended by four other Kuo-toa and after a brief exchange of what appears to be a cultural greeting of some sort, you see Shuushar beckon you over.
Shuushar - "Friends, we are in the grace of the Sea Mother archpriest, Ploopploopeen. I have told her that you've helped me return. She wishes to speak with you now."
Ploopploopeen - "Please allow me to thank you for returning Shuushar to us. He is one of our most faithfully cherished people. You have the aid and comforts that we can provide."He then signals for food and water to be brought for you all."I understand Shuushar has informed you of our...tensions...with those who follow the Deep Father, yes?"
The food and water is both fresh and a welcome reprieve from the rations you've been eating for the past 8 days.
Ploopploopeen - "Haha, yes, you are adventurers indeed." Signaling again for drink to be brought, it isn't long before you have clay goblets full of an ale that reminds you all of a familiar brew from each your hometowns. "Please, drink your fill. As you do, be at peace here. With the glaring exception of the Deep Father worshippers, there is no harm that shall seek you out here with us."
Unlike my brutish counterparts, I'll take care of pleasantries before stuffing my greedy gullet.
I'll address the high priest thusly: "Greetings, your grace, and may all of the blessings of the sea mother that you, clearly, so richly deserve be showered upon you and your followers. We extend our most profound and heartfelt thanks to you and yours for rendering aid and we are in turn extremely pleased that we were able to help your follower here. Now, you graciously offered to aid our pious and humble band of adventurers and I would like to beg that you aid us in our quest to return to the surface world as soon as possible. What if any aid might your benevolent grace be able to render to that end?"
I will then politely eat and stuff my rucksack with as many nonperishables that seem politely prudent as I await a reply.
Ploopploopeen - With a smile at the Tiefling's kind praises, he says,"You are most welcome to all of the food, drink, and shelter that you like. Be wary of how far you stray from our followers as I suspect you won't find the same generosity bestowed upon you by the Deep Father worshippers. We do not have a guide for you to reach the surface although we do know that Gracklstugh is your best chance at finding such a guide. I would offer you one of our boats and a guide to across the Darklake, however, all of our boats have been taken by those who follow the Deep Father."He then looks over at another Kuo-Toa standing nearer to the shrine before returning his attention back towards you."You may not have any choice but to engage in conflict with them in order to cross the Darklake. If that is indeed your choice, then I may have aid for you yet."
Hearing someone wretch near the shrine, you shift your attention towards the sound and see 2 Kuo-Toa worshippers vomiting all over the base of the shrine. It's utterly repulsive and you swear you can smell the stench waft towards your unprepared nostrils.
Shuushar, noticing your discomfort, explains,"Worry not. Regurgitating at the goddess's feet is considered a sincere show of faith."
You watch as they stand from their kneeling position after they've vacated from their stomachs what looks to be at least 7 meals between the two of them, and continue praying to the Sea Mother's shrine. You shudder, but all appears legit.
Still addressing the high priest: "Please excuse my ignorance, your eminence, but I am confused. How has it come to pass that a powerful person with the blessings of the deep mother, such as yourself, could lose control of all of the local water craft? How did such a underserved malady come to be brought down upon your head? Furthermore, where are the followers of this sacrilegious 'deep father' located in case we decide to wipe their filth from this realm? What are they like? What are they doing and planning? The first rule of any engagement is to know thine enemy so, please, give us any and all details that you find pertinent in your infinite and blessed wisdom."
Ploopploopeen - Glancing over at Shuushar, then back to Morgana, he says,"Shuushar was most astute in his assertion that you are indeed the wisest of your group. Very well, then."Looking uncharacteristically moved by memories, the archpriest begins telling you of how the Deep Father worshippers came to be."Our people were once united in our prayers. We lived in harmonious service to the will of the Sea Mother for some time. Oh there were occasional "visionaries" who stirred up trouble..."again, looking over at Shuushar, and this time casting a walleyed glance, he goes on,"...but nothing of any great concern. Not long before you arrived, Bloppblippodd, my own daughter, experienced a powerful vision of Leemooggoogoon the Deep Father, proclaiming him the new god of her people. She has backed up her claims with a great increase in her magical power, and new followers have flocked to her."You can sense a deep sadness in her voice."We are split in two,"Ploopploopeen explains,"fighting amongst ourselves. The followers of the Deep Father have been making an increasing number of offerings on his altar - killing blood sacrifices then casting bloody chum into the waters of the Darklake where it is consumed by...something."
The archpriest of the Sea Mother tells the characters he wants to use them as bait. Pretending to be humanoid sacrifices, they will get close enough to the Deep Father's altar to disrupt the upstart faction's rituals, allowing his true believers of the Sea Mother to cut off the head of the cult.
"You will be well rewarded for your aid, beyond merely safe passage across the Darklake."she finishes and awaits the party's answer.

(What would you like to do?)
I'll put on a winning smile and approach.
Gremryl keeps his weapons sheathed and follows a step behind morgana.
Elmo follows closely behind ready to win over others. Elmo Whispers to Morgana, "keep the insults to a minimum please"
As you approach, Shuushar says,
Shuushar - "Friends, we are in the grace of the Sea Mother archpriest, Ploopploopeen. I have told her that you've helped me return. She wishes to speak with you now."

Elmo begins stuffing his face in a way shameful to most races but polite for a halfling.
Gremryl moves toward the food and says:
"Aye.. He may have mentioned it. this food looks delicious.. but might i ask where is the Ale?"
then proceeds to dig into the feast.
Ploopploopeen - "Haha, yes, you are adventurers indeed." Hearing Morgana speak in such a manner Gremryl casts a sideway at elmo and rolls his eyes under his bushy eyebows...while still eating...
"Aye, we brought your follower here, wasn't easy to be sure you grace... "
“... but was nothing for skilled adventurers like ourselfs” (finishing Grem’s sentence)
(Whispers to grem) “that’s what you’ll be doing after I drink you under tonight...”
Still addressing the high priest: "Please excuse my ignorance, your eminence, but I am confused. At Elmos proclamation Gremryl nearly spits his ale out...
Following Morganas lead:
"Is that the shrine of this father you speak of down by the docks? Seems this is a Mothers town."
Shuushar replies to Gremryl's question and points West, towards the docks - "There. That is the altar of the Deep Father."
