"I'll be the judge of that fish..." Gremryl says to the shopkeep and tosses 5 gold coins on the table. "I expect you to keep quiet about this here exchange.."
once outside the shop:
"A sound plan Morgana. we can use the Sea Mother's Arch priests plan to let us get in as bait possibly? remember, they said if we help them, we get addtional gifts bestowed upon us. We combine two quests in one! I've heard this being called 'dual-quest'.. twice the rewards for one quest!"
“You rang?” The rest of the party looks up to see Elmo on the roof of the building they just exited. “I heard laughter. Something must’ve been right hilarious. Anything a degenerate halfling would appreciate?”
You waited patiently outside the hovel that Morgana and Gremryl walked into. Keeping an eye out for trouble, you witness many Kuo-toa going about their daily business. In particular, from your vantage point above the hovel, you can make out both the Shrine of the Sea Mother and the Alter of the Deep Father. The latter appears to be growing in number of Kuo-toa gathering there, although it's impossible to count how many are there. You estimate that there are easily over 50 by the time Morgana and Gremryl come out. Looking at the Shrine of the Sea Mother, there are less, although you estimate around 25 or so are present. To the docks, you see guards patrolling in shifts, but it's hard to tell from this distance how well armed they are.
“There seems to be about 50 or so fish folk at the alter of the Deep Father. Seems dangerous. There seems to be quite a comotion over there. I think we should see what all the hubbub is about. Or perhaps I can. I can slkink over there, dont know how your lot would travel unnoticed. ”
Gremryl watches Elmo as he continues to pull meat from his pockets..
"you always keep meat in there Halfing? Never mind, I don't be needing an answer to that! 50 or so you say?"
"Morgana, what say you? Want to mosey on down there and check out the scene? might be we can use your 'diplomatic' skills eh? or mi Morningstars? Might be the odds are against us, perhaps we can gather some of the Mothers followers to help? or their plan?"
I like your idea of killing two birds with one stone and doubling up on quests. It doesn't look like we will be able to infiltrate quietly with that many goons about so I think that we'll need the sea mothers backup for a straight up brawl. But let's wait to see what Elmo reports back with.
Bloppblippod is now standing in a pool of her own blood from the vicious rendering by Gremryl's morning stars, Bella and Stella. There's a moment where she closes her eyes and anybody watching closely can see that she's whispering words of incantation when suddenly, what look like ghostly fiends of the evilest stereotype materialize around her (within 15ft)! Some have curly horns and others have chipped horns. All have deep purple-colored, goat-eyes, devilish, forked-tails, small, bat-like wings much like Morgana's, and flit about her in seemingly random movements. Most curiously, no matter which one you might look at, they all seem to be looking at you...all the time. It's as unnerving as it is painful to anybody within 15ft of her, with the exclusion of her allies. This, you recognize is the Spirit Guardians spell (cast at level 5)!
Gremryl is next to take initiative and since he's within the 15ft area of effect, he mustroll a Wisdom saving throw of 14 to reduce the incoming damage caused by the spell by half it's 5d8 power!
(Gremryl, please roll a Wisdom saving throw and then describe what you want to do on your turn.)
Taking an abusive round of punishment from Bloppblippod's Spiritual Guardians, yet maintaining his faith and shrugging off half of the onslaught of fiendish, necrotic damage (14 instead of 28 due to a successful saving throw), Gremryl Stonebreaker curses under his breath something about revenge being a cold *****...
Channeling his inner powers, he heals himself for 14hp using Lay on Hands. Now feeling completely refreshed, he takes his bonus action to inflict massive damage on the archpriestess through for glory of Moradin and through the might of Stella!
Bloppblippod cries out in pain."Fool! You cannot stop the Deep Father! There is nothing that can stop his great power!"She screams aloud to you and her followers.
Glooglugogg casts Shield of Faith on Gremryl to protect his ally, sensing that he's able to put out a tremendous amount of damage...but only if he remains alive to do so.
Klibdoloogut, attacks the nearest Kuo-toa with a melee attack but misses. He follows up with his pincer staff and lands a damaging blow plus grapples the poor creature who now is immobilized!
Morgana watches as this all unfolds before her and is ready to take action next!
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
K, I'm gonna cast Aganazzar’s Scorcher directly in front of me, encompassing Kua-toa 1 and the high priestess as well. They both need to make dexterity saving throws. If they fail, they take 14 damage. Anybody that succeeds takes half of that. I'm gonna use my movement to get down behind the building that I am on for cover.
Morgana casts Aganazzar’s Scorcher and sends forth a mighty blaze along a straight line in front of her, with the archpriestess and Kuo-toa (1) directly in its fiery wake! Both enemies successfully (DEX SAVE) dive out of the way just in time to escape becoming a living funeral pyre! Cursing in the infernal tongue she quickly jumps back behind the hut she was standing on to avoid being targeted from her enemies.
Kuo-toa (1) targets Gremryl with his spear! Being a fairly young recruit shows it's signs as he misses wide to the left.
Kuo-toa (2) continues to engage with Hemeth and prevents his escape for another round.
Kuo-toa (3) turns to face Glooglugogg and throws his net to restrain him. Success! Gloogluggogg bites and claws at the net but is restrained for now.
Kuo-toa (4) sees the restrained enemy and attacks with his spear with advantage. Somehow, this poor bastard misses a restrained enemy...it's so embarrassing that you audibly hear him die a little inside his heart...
Kuo-toa (5) readies his net and throws it at Gremryl to restrain him. Success! Gremryl has managed to evade numerous attempts at being netted but the piled up mess of netting he's already dodged catch his footing and he's now restrained under the Kuo-toa net!
Kuo-toa (6) also sees the restrained Kuo-toa captain (Gloogluggogg) and attacks with his spear. CRITICAL HIT! Gloogluggogg takes the spearhead right to the chest. Even though he now has a sucking wound that just missed his heart, he's able to maintain his concentration on his Shield of Faith. A warrior indeed!
Kuo-toa Monitor (1) attempts to take advantage of Gremryl's disadvantage and attacks with a multi-attack combination of bite and claws. HIT! The Kuo-toa Monitor takes a chunk of flesh and armor off of Gremryl's right arm. Gremryl feels searing pain shoot up his arm and is unsuccessful in his attempt to maintain the concentration of his Shield of Faith for Elmo! Another attack, this time with a swipe of his right claw. MISS! A final attack with his left claw. HIT! It deals both physical and lightning damage! Gremryl has taken 12 points of damage.
Kuo-toa Monitor (2) attempts to multi-attack the netted Gloogluggogg. The flurry of attacks is fast and vicious! While Gloogluggogg manages to maintain the concentration of his Shield of Faith, he's unable to keep it together as the swipe of claw rakes across his face. Gremryl no longer has the protection of +2 AC from this spells effect.
Elmo has watched this battle for too long...he knows it's time to put an end to this before it gets any worse. (You're up, Elmo!)
Elmo, the complete and total badass of all Halflings across the realms, squints through his sights with the utmost of perfection...he breathes deeply then exhales...in that split second moment of stillness, he can hear every sound across the Darklake...his eyes close, his finger ever so gently pulls the trigger, and the crossbow fires with controlled recoil that experienced generals only know of. As the bolt sails towards its target, the archpriestess Bloppblippodd, he opens his eyes, already knowing that this will be the deathblow to end this battle.
Gremryl, now under a net and face to face with the archpriestess, is instantly covered in blood and brain goo as Elmo's bolt breaks through the Kuo-toa's forehead. Mouth agape, eyes rolling back in their sockets (which truly is an uncomfortable sight to see from these eyelid-less creatures!), she falls to the ground. Blood pools everywhere.
Everyone stops what they're doing and takes in this scene, some with disappointment, others with glee, and you with a feeling of relief. "Finally!" You all think to yourself. The Kuo-toa begin to cry out, again, some in joy, and others in agony at the sight of their leader falling dead to the ground.
Another sound rises above the burbling cries of the Kuo-toa. The dark surface of the water farther out bubbles and begins to foam. A think, oily tentacle bursts forth, followed by another. Then two monstrous heads break the surface, both resembling hideous, angry baboons with wicked curved tusks. Both heads are attached to a single torso, and the monster's red eyes burn with bloodlust and madness. The creature rising from the Darklake must stand thirty feet tall or more, with water cascading down it's back and shoulders. Upon reaching its full height, the great demon throws back both its heads and roars!
Each of you must roll a Charisma Saving Throw as the Kuo-toa are now paralyzed and begin crying out "Leemooggoogoon!" over and over again.
"I'll be the judge of that fish..." Gremryl says to the shopkeep and tosses 5 gold coins on the table. "I expect you to keep quiet about this here exchange.."

"Where is Mr. Meatpockets!!"
“You rang?” The rest of the party looks up to see Elmo on the roof of the building they just exited. “I heard laughter. Something must’ve been right hilarious. Anything a degenerate halfling would appreciate?”
Elmo casually pulls dried meats from his pocket to gnosh on. “And how did you know what was in me pocket? “
Did elmo see anything of concern while he was waiting outside of the store?

Elmo stealths and goes on ahead.

Ok, I may be able to free Grem from the net and or restrain our fleeing target during my next turn...
Oh thank god! Charisma! Something I'm reasonably good at! Charisma check=24
