I'm fine with either of the 2 choices (stay together/no teleportation, or the split suggested in the last post).

Beegred Thornpost - Lvl 8 Halfling Ranger - Out of the Abyss by Kerrec Drusk - Lvl 8 Half-Orc Life Cleric - The Long Road: Dragon Heist by Mingofaust (player & current DM) Hunferho Aelorothi - Lvl 5 Half-Elf Bard/Rogue - Baldur's Gate: Descent Into Avernus (by Pokepaladdy) DM - Frontier City of Nunkreet (ended)
I've been thinking about this proposal. I know I said I wanted to shed some NPC's, but I also feel compelled to maintain a sense of continuity. I just don't feel it would be this easy to split a group that banded together for mutual protection.
So as Xilyrah proposes this split, Eldeth is the first to object. She doesn't want to be saddled with a drow, a quaggoth and a helpless Stool with only Valthana for company, while still needing to flee pursuit. Derendil also objects, as this seems to leave him trapped in the underdark once and if they all reach Neverlight Grove. But oddly, it is Sarith that becomes uncharacteristically animated and feverishly insists that everyone has to go to Neverlight Grove!
Also remembered that Eldeth and Tozer are the party members with +5 survival, which is great for foraging. Losing Eldath means more hungry days.

Stay together. Can trust squid-face to not eat a group of our size, but that might change if he teleported with a smaller group.

Where does the Elf fit in your foraging and skill checks? I'll roll until I land on something interesting and put him where it's most advantageous, but once you've all had a chance to post, he has to be assigned to a skill check, food or water.
Day 10 started with 1 pound of day 9 food and 3 gallons of water in waterskins, plus 2 waterorbs.
Skill check results:
Derendil: 1 gallon of water
Eldeth: 4 gallons of water
Jimjar: nothing
Beegred: 1 pound of food, doubled (2 pounds)
Tozer: 1 pound of food
Narstin: 4 pounds of food
Burfeth: 4 pounds of food or 4 gallons of water
With Burfeth, the party needs 10.5 pounds of food. With Burfeth, the party has 11 pounds of food, leaving half a pound of day 10 food. The party needs 10.5 gallons of water and ends the day with 8 gallons. Narstin will have to use up a spell slot and the party has 3 gallons of water in waterskins after drinking their fill.
Day 11 started with 1/2 pound of day 10 food and 3 gallons of water in waterskins, plus 2 waterorbs.
Skill check results:
The party is now 56 miles from Velkinvelve.
Derendil: 2 gallons of water
Eldeth: 2 gallons of water
Jimjar: 1 gallon of water
Beegred: 1 pound of food, doubled (2 pounds)
Tozer: 4 pound of food
Narstin: 12 pounds of food
Burfeth: 8 pounds of food or 8 gallons of water
Rolling 1d2: 1= food, 2 = water. 1
The party starts the day with 3 gallons of water and ends with 8. Narstin has to use a spell slot and everyone drinks their fill, leaving 3 gallons in waterskins.
The party starts the day with 1/2 pound of food and ends with 26.5 pounds. The party is left with 16 pounds of day 11 food.
What is the plan exactly? Who ends up in what group?
I propose for the teleportation group:
Xilyrah
Tozer
Beegred
Narstin
Jimjar
Sad elf slave
Continuing on to Fungaltown:
Sarith Kzekarit
Valthana
Stool
Prince Derendil
Eldeth Feldrun
(or we swap Jimjar with a different NPC)

Yeah, losing Eldeth isn't ideal. I'm also suspicious of Sarith's insistence that we all go to Neverlight Grove.
Insight check on Sarith (if allowed): 7 (blargh)

You examine Sarith and he just looks very insistent that everyone goes.
Ok, let's move on. Splitting the party the way Xilyrah proposed would require a pretty high Persuasion or deception check.
Alternatively, Jimjar can teleport with the elf.
Or you all stay together and move on.

I apologize for my extended silence. In concert with Quasi, I say "together."
You guys are no fun. Teleporting with a mind flayer sounds like a good time. FINE *kicks the dirt* we’ll stay together.
