(As of the next day, the party will no longer have to make Survival checks to see if you make progress for the day. Catch is Rodolfo has to navigate, or assist someone who is navigating. Sarith will not take direction from anyone and can no longer be the navigator.)
Sarith has been brooding too much for comfort, anyways.
Assignment swap. Put Sarith on water foraging, and Rodolfo for navigating. (Stool will still assist, since it is acting like a compass. And if for some reason we were given bad directions, we won't go far wrong before Stool will notice.)

I believe this is Day 18 (not important, distance covered is what matters). You began the day with 3 gallons of water in waterskins. You have 7 pounds of food left after losing half of your food along with Valthana. Tozer is also carrying 2 waterorbs.
Skill checks:
Navigation: Rodolfo w/help from Stool vs DC 10 Survival: 16
It appears that crossing the scree wasn't even necessary and make almost no progress towards Neverlight Grove.
Water:
Jimjar: None
Derendil: 4 gallons
Rodolfo: None
Food:
Beegred: 1 pound (doubled) = 2 pounds
Eldeth: 2 pounds
Tozer: 12 pounds
Narstin: 4 pounds
Narstin will need to conjure some Water (using up a spell slot going into the long rest). The party is left with 5 gallons of water in waterskins (Krizzibond and Rodolfo have their own). The party eats the 7 pounds of day 17 food and 3 more from Day 18. The other 17 pounds gets carried over.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Day 19 Skill checks:
Start with 5 gallons of water and 17 pounds of day 18 food.
Navigation: Rodolfo w/help from Stool vs DC -NONE-
IF fail: Party wanders lost for -N/A-.
Foraging for water:
Jimjar: 8
Derendil: 17
Sarith: 9
Foraging for food:
Beegred: 9 (doubled)
Eldeth: 14
Tozer: 23
Narstin: 13
(NOTE: Since you have excellent directions and don't need to spend time figuring out the correct path, I will rule you can travel 10 miles per day instead of 6.)
Distance travelled: 10 miles (up to 100 miles from Velkinvelve towards Neverlight Grove)
Water:
Jimjar: 0
Derendil: 8 gallons
Sarith: 2 gallons
Food:
Beegred: 1 pound (doubled) = 2 pounds
Eldeth: 8 pounds
Tozer: 15 pounds
Narstin: 8 pounds
Day 19 you drink all of day 18 water and are left with 5 gallons in waterskins. You all eat 10 pounds of day 18 food and throw the rest away, leaving you with 33 pounds of day 19 food.
The humanoid, still not entirely facing Beegred, responds in Common, "I am old and defenseless. If you can not take me along with you, then I beg for your mercy and a boon... Kill me quickly and painlessly and then bury my body by the traditions of human surfacers. It would please me to know that after decades of being a slave, someone with some empathy will put me into a grave with care and reverence.
I will wait here for you and your group."
And that is why Beegred was sighing.
He could see Dread walking up to him and giving him a big hug, but he could only stand there and watch it happen.

We will have to wait for Narstin to speak up about his thoughts, but I don't see him slaughtering an old man, even if it is kinder than letting him roam alone. Most likely, he will want him along, until the party finds some place safer to drop him off.

Finally got my computer working again! So hopefully I can get back to regular posting. I'll go check out the main thread and see what I need to post. Though based on Quasi's comment, narstin is indeed not likely to be a fan of slaughtering an old man that isn't a threat to us.
Nartsin is determined to keep a large cast of NPCs apparently :P. Clearly my ideals and bond of always helping those in need and protecting those who can't protect themselves are not the best designed for ruthlessly getting out of the udnerdark alive :D
Maybe Narstin should start running the NPC's he'd like to keep - perhaps that would change his mind :P
Krizzibond is a mercenary - and practical - if the old man wants to die who am I to stop him :) If it would make Narstin feel better we could give the old man a weapon and let him die in battle against one of us.

Lol. As the player, I'm all for letting NPCs die to make things easier. But when I created the character and picked his traits I didn't realize there would be such a large cast of NPCs that we might want to slim down at some point :P
Krizz will defer to the preexisting leadership hierarchy the group as since he's new - however he is willing to put the old man out of his misery should the group decide that.
I think we should defer to the cleric who is providing water to the party on most days. Levels of exhaustion are annoying. :-)
Hopefully, there will come a day when someone needs to stay behind to start a rockslide to bury our enemies, and the ElderGuy will volunteer to go out in a blaze of glory.
I also hope that we stop getting runaway slaves as our encounters. :-)
------
ElderGuy will carry Stool from now on. The mushroom can guide him. (Xilyrah will stay nearby during the travels, in case they need aid.)

Yeah, hopefully we see the end of Society of Brilliance members, rock slides and slaves.
My tabletop group (who are currently at Neverlight Grove) has only run into slaves once.
What do you want Xilyrah to do then?
