Several hours go by. The stream of oozes leaving trickles down, yet every time one of you thinks it is now safe to try to leave yourselves, another clump of oozes rounds the corner. An hour turns into two, then two into four. Before you know it, Skameros wakes fully refreshed (Skameros can take a long rest).
The rest was sorely needed, especially for the Strike Team who suffered greatly. However now the need for food and water begins to become urgent. If you can't magically conjure any, you will have to attempt to cross the Rockblight to get back to Blingdenstone proper while dodging the numerous oozes haphazardly wandering about.
Beegred is grumbling about the food situation. At least when the party was stumbling around the Underdark, those magic berries gave a nice sugar rush. ... He blinks a few times... Beegred casts Goodberry, having to use a 2nd level spell slot. He hands out 9 of the berries, and eats the 10th one. (Also heals 1 hp.)
When the group is ready to move, he will cast Pass Without Trace. (That leaves him with only one spell slot left.)

Thurnir has 9 days of rations and a water skin, he’s willing to share, even going hungry himself as needed. He shoulders his pack and equips his gear and starts walking.. “Welp, I’m ready to get back”.
Your party watches the oozes pass by intermittently. Rodolfo makes notes and writes down calculations, looking for repeatable patterns. You all make elaborate plans to sneak away. Skameros is tied to a rope like a dog on a leash and begins to levitate. Beegred casts Pass without Trace to mask the passing of the group. When an adequate opening is found that correlates to Rodolfo's calculations, you all make a run for it.
As your party distances itself from the Menhir you not only avoid all detection, you fail to detect anything yourselves. Skameros, floating in the air and being pulled along, bounces into walls each time you need to stop or round a corner. Your party comes up on the gates to Inner Blingdenstone, being actively guarded by a pair of gnomes on the Rockblight side. They take quite a fright as you suddenly appear in front of them, catching them unawares. After collecting themselves and getting over watching a floating Bugbear with a few gnomes hanging off him being pulled along by a rope, they become agitated and usher you all into Blingdenstone proper.
Once inside, Narstin and the Strike Team are quickly ushered towards the priests for healing and counselling. Seeing the rest of you in fairly good shape, you are brought to Senni and Dorbo for a debriefing. They ask many questions and grieve at the loss of two of the young strike team members. They rejoice at the news that Ogremoch's Bane was banished, and immediately give orders to send the earth elementals into the Rockblight to destroy or chase away the oozes that are entering Blingdenstone from that direction. They recount the battle from their side. The elementals were instrumental, wading into the oozes with abandon and wreaking havoc among them. Clan Goldwhisker stood behind the elementals and dispatched the oozes that got past. The rest of the gnomes lobbed anything and everything into the sea of oozes ahead of the elementals, doing what damage they could or distracted and redirected oozes that got past or around Clan Goldwhisker. The battle was not without losses. Clan Goldwisker lost about of third of their people and many gnomes were maimed or died.
Where the attitude of the svirfneblin was cold and distrusting when you first arrived here, now they are warm and respectful. Their city and services are open to your party without question. A few days later, your party is paraded around as honorary citizens of Blingdenstone and given a stone of controlling earth elementals in a public ceremony. Once the celebrations are completed, your party finds themselves alone with Senni and Dorbo in their little office...
"We are not blind to the fact our situation has vastly improved since your arrival. The battle has killed and maimed many of our people, but with The Pudding King and the oozes leaving or gone, the banishment of Ogremoch's Bane and the discovery of Entremoch's Boon, the cleansing of the violent ghosts in our warrens, the killing of the medusa we were not even aware hunted in the Rockblight... we are still much better off than we were.
I had hoped that this madness our people suffer from would be ended when The Pudding King was defeated, but that appears to not be the case. There are still trying times ahead for all of us. You came here seeking our help to find a route to the surface. We owe you that much and will gladly help. However, the answer we offer you is not an easy one. King Bruenor has closed all of the known routes to the surface, as Thurnir has informed us. The best and safest routes we know of are not options.
That leaves the worst and most dangerous routes, of which we know of one. Just on the outskirts of Menzoberranzan, there is a chasm several thousand feet across that reaches all the way up near the surface. Apparently the Drow call it 'The Silken Path'. It is and has been infested with all manner of creatures for untold generations. It is thick with spider webs, some of them probably thousands of years old, and the spiders add to them every day. It is believed that is one of the primary routes the Drow use to access the surface world, and due to the proximity of Menzoberranzan, few but the Drow go there. It is the only option we can give you to get back to your homes. If the danger is too great, we understand and you are all welcome to stay, as citizens of Blingdenstone.
But if you wish to make the attempt, we can offer you a guide. The mother of one of the deceased Strike Team members is a scout that has frequently made the trip to Mantol-Derith with our merchants. She is as knowledgeable as any of us in the navigation of the underdark, and believes she can bring you to The Silken Path. She will join you on your journey as she wishes to never again see Blingdenstone, where her too young daughter sacrificed her life in its defense. She wishes to wander the surface until she finds a new purpose or passes on. If you will have her, she will guide you."
Throughout most of this Rodolfo is beaming for the successes they have worked for so hard over the last several weeks. He spends two full days just copying spells into his book, thanking the locals profusely for providing the needed material resources.
After he's done he copying the spells he finds one of the local foremen to accompany him to a random pile of rocks. "Stand back a bit, I haven't tried this before." He concentrates and seemingly draws something in the air and POOF! the pile of rocks turns into a massive rocking chair with armrests and everything (cast fabricate). He jumps back a bit and then goes to poke it and try it out. He then turns to the foreman, "Well, that was fun! Have a seat, it's safe!". Over the remainder of their stay in the city he will just create stuff people will request, limited to one per day.
The news of the path to the surface though is troubling. "Where is this King Bruenor? Can we go and talk to him about this?"

Beegred will give Senni and Dorbo a suspicious look, that a chasm a mile wide is the only option left. Insight check: 16
The halfling takes a moment to think... how to say this tactfully...
"Eh, it sounds like you are trying to get us to do your dirty work. The only way to the surface is a route that is inhabited by monsters? And you have a nearby trade route to this place called Menthol-Dearth, which would be a lot easier if those monsters were thinned out? Not that I'm accusing you of anything. Just asking respectfully if you are trying to get us killed, to help out your merchants."
Beegred is pleased that he found the right words to be diplomatic.

Thurnir fills in the group on King Bruenor, and confirms that all the gnomes have said is true, to the best of his knowledge. He’s the sole survivor of one of the dwarf king’s scouting parties. “I’m game fer tryin the silken path. Should be ready fer lots o’ spiders and more n’ a couple drow. But I’m keen to get back to me king.” He spends his spare time in the city helping the gnomes with repairing and crafting weapons and armor (smiths tools proficiency), and healing the sick, blind, and injured.
Orubis sighs. "This sounds like a death sentence. Perhaps it is the Mushroom Prince calling me back to the earth. I will answer. And help clear the way, if I can."
Sorbo and Denni look at Beegred with despair. (Insight: They absolutely look honest, and are very much aware the only help they can offer is not the best of choices...)
They respond, "The Silken Path is not on the way to Mantol-Derith. Our merchants make sure to steer clear of Menzoberranzan. Smolva is certain she can guide you there, even though it is not on the route she usually takes to Mantol-Derith. As for thinning out monsters, I suggest you all make your way to the surface undetected and avoid facing them at all. We have no need to clear The Silken Path of the creatures that hunt there."
"shroommen, oozes, and now dark elfs. Maybe surface isn't such a good place to go?" Skameros ponders as he looks around the Gnomish sized buildings wondering if he could live here for a while.
Rodolfo says, "If that is our only option then that is our only option. We will have guidance and help, we have the means and motivation. We should set off then as soon as we are ready."
He turns to the locals once more, "Should we encounter anyone on the way that is not hostile - what should we tell them? Should we mention Blindgenstone at all? Should we mention that it's safe for now?"
Senni and Dorbo look ashamed as they reply, "Blingdenstone was destroyed because our ancestors tried to become involved in the politics of the underdark. Blingdenstone prospered before that when it was unknown and hidden. It would be best if our city remains hard to find. We will offer respite to any friendly folk who knock on our gates, but please do not draw maps or make it generally known how to find us? The drow and the duergar would not hesitate to enslave us all if they knew how vulnerable we are."

Unless there are other suggestions, Beegred will scout slightly ahead of the main group, using his Umbral Sight to become invisible whenever the cavern is completely dark. He has to rely on the others (like the guide) for which way to go, but he is using his Favored Terrain (Underdark and Mountains) to find the easiest and safest paths in the local area.
Also using the Observant feat to help keep an eye out for anything unusual (passive Perception 20).
