Jack left with just Duncan, finishes his meal. He sits back and asks “So Duncan what do you see as being next for us? We don’t have much to go on to figure out who why Elron’s companion was murdered. I’m thinking we should find something to keep us busy, though I don’t know what that is. Lady Ardidd pays well, you think we should stop by and inquire if she has any more jobs for a group with a particular set of skills? Even if she doesn’t have anything, she may give us a lead on someone who does.”
"I would suggest, friend Kai, that it is simply difficult to verify the integrity of a potion once it has left the merchant's possession. I have heard of substances that can be added to the liquid and are nigh undetectable, but have various ill effects upon the liquid and its drinker..." Landrae says, pre-emptively placating the merchant, "I think we are well dealt with at the offer on 3 for the price of two, and money much better spent than the garish fashions at the bandit camp disguised as a clothing boutique!"
Landrae hands over the 100gp for the 3 most colourful options.
"I fear the jewellery will have to wait a while longer."
Kai, fishes in his pouch for half of the gold. After all, he wonders, how much gold is a companion's life worth.
OCC: Just a little haggling, and 'buyer beware'. Besides, I didn't like his salesmanship. I mean, take it or leave it I would expect buying furniture at Wall-mart, but a little wiggle at a quality store.
(Lol. This is the magic item shop equivalent of Walmart.)
"Non refundable," Andatrius says patiently, "Because it saves me the trouble of bashing buyers' skulls in when they come back claiming their potions didn't 'work'."
He bites one of the coins to ensure it's authenticity, grunts in satisfaction, and bids you good day.
"Bashing customer's skulls would indeed be a good way to demonstrate the efficacy of your goods, but I'm not entirely sure it works as a reliable strategy for repeat business, more than that one time." Landrae winks at Andatrius and thanks the gruff man for his time, as she stows the potions in her pack and takes Kai's arm in such a way that it looks like he is leading her, as she steers him out the shop. "We'll balance the money and potions when everyone is back together."
"So, since I was unable to find a tailor, and Thithladroth seems not to understand the concept and various benefits of public bath houses, I guess we could head back to eh Silver Thorn and see if the others are still there? They may have a room that we could use which would meet our needs..." Landrae offers Kai a slight flutter of her eyelashes and a coy smile before continuing after the moment's pause, "...to bathe and clean up. Unless you had anywhere else to visit? Perhaps a tea merchant? Otherwise I am of a mind to explore The Pavillion a little more, unless the others have come up with a better suggestion."
((Do we still have anything at the Bloody Thorn?))
As Duncan, Elber, and Jack enjoy their meal in the Silver Thorn, a gasping and sweaty Elron stumbles onto the scene. "There you are!" He chuckles, mopping his balding head nervously. "I thought you had run out on me." Breathing heavily, he falls into an unoccupied seat.
Elber resists a sigh as Elron invites himself to the table. "Aye, you be in luck. I be just about to leave for a swim, but not if you be here for business."
Elron scratches his head. "So he did, so he did.. Well I'll be on my way then. " He rises to his feet. "I've business to attend to..." He mutters distractedly.
“So Elron,” Jack stops him from walking away. “We heard some interesting information when interrogating the bandits about the attack on you that resulted in your companion’s death. You would be interested to know that it wasn’t necessarily the bandits who made the decision to attack him...”
Jack will pause to see a reaction and use his insight (w one Peterson’s help please) to see if he is acting guilty or nervous. 17
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Duncan also doesn't trust this elf. He isn't a warrior, yet still wants his share. He'll also be watching Elron, though letting Jack speak, as he's much more clever. INSIGHT5 ((and insightful today lol))
“Why so nervous Elron? Good thing we didn’t kill all the bandits, one of them even saw the man that talked to their boss about stopping your cart in particular. Short little fella if I remember my details correctly. But hey, good thing you escaped without injury. How pray tell did that happen again? Also, weird thing...we didn’t find one of your potions amongst the loot that was stored. They stockpiled a lot of that expensive loot for months but somehow your potions were not. It’s almost as if they were never there.” Jack says sarcastically as he puts his arm around Elron. “So why don’t you tell us what really happened before I share all of this evidence with the captain of the guard. Accessory to murder is a serious crime in these parts and I’m sure we could get a handsome reward for information leading to the arrest of such a person.”

"Kai, perhaps a couple of healing potions would benefit us before our next outing?"

Kai responds, "Aye, I was thinking the same myself. We would be in sad state should you or I be injured, though the prices seem to be dear."

Elron stammers nervously. "Is that so? A tragedy, a tragedy..."
Elron is clearly nervous, but he retains enough of his rationality to not reveal too much information by his behavior.
