The four of you leave the city uneventfully. Volo's notebook has some information on the current events already. The "Beacon of Evil" as he had named it, is somewhere in the southwest. Currently, all manners of creatures have been heading in that direction, including Giants, Dragons, and Undead.
Less than a day into your journey, you find a river, crossing your path. It is one of the few swift rivers in the area, and its water is a murky brown. The river is too hard to jump across, and wading through it could become dangerous. What do you do?
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Quetzalcoatl
During the course of the next day Quetzalcoatl studies her new companions, asking few questions but reading much about their character by their hands, garments, and physical and mental characteristics.
Upon reaching the river, she halts and peers into the murky depths. Perception: 21
"Shall we cross here or look for a location where the river is narrower and calmer?"
Quetzalcoatl: You can make out a figure in the water. It seems to be the figure of a human girl, stuck to the jagged rocks at the river's bottom. You are also able to see that the river is a lot slower (although wider) further upstream.
"I vote we go further upstream, to where it's calmer, also, i have an idea..." With a wink, Thakdrith starts toying with one of his javelins and some rope, looking for a good tree on each side of the river that would make good anchors. Perception: 11
You were able to spot firm trees on both sides of the river. Most hang low and close to the ground, while others reach high into the sky, competing for the little light of the jungle.
"I suggest i tie a rope to the center of a javelin, throw towards entangling securely in the branches of trees til we get a secure hold, tie the opposite end to a tree on our side of the bank, then hold onto the rope as we wade through." Thakdrith would also like to cast divine sense before we make our crossing attempt, to make sure no evil creatures have been following or lying in wait to take advantage of their vulnerable crossing.
((Hopefully i don't detect anything besides our celestial Aasimar companion.))
As she stares at the human girl, Maromin has a flash of her sister's body in the river. She panics at the thought of finding her sister in a state like that, or worse. She steps forward towards the river and exclaims, "I'll help her!"
"I suppose we're getting wet, one way or another." Thakdrith ponders a moment, seeing they're determined to retrieve the body, and relieved he isn't sensing any malicious intent nearby, "Forming a sort of human chain might be safer than wading in all by yourselves?" He suggests, still wary of the swift river.
Hastily tying a rope around her waist, Quetzalcoatl hands one end of it to Balrun. "Your dwarven skills will be of use to us yet. No need for more than one of us to get wet. I'll retrieve the body alone." With that she submerges the upper half of her body in the river and attempts to extricate the body from the rocks.
Balrun
"I was beginning to wonder when everybody would show, I'm packed and ready to embark if everyone else is."
Captain Balrun Stonefist

Quetzalcoatl
"All I own you see on me." Quetzalcoatl says. " I am ready to embark on our adventure. "

Thakdrith
"I already stocked up on the bare essentials, so let's get a move on." Thakdrith wants to look for Volo and bid farewell.
Maromin
"Agreed. It's time we get a move on."

Quetzalcoatl staggers away, her face pale. "There is... a body in the water." She whispers.

Thakdrith, you sense nothing except the Aasimar. Also, make a strength check for the javelin throw.

The javelin goes high into the air, and flies over the river, and lands firmly into a thicket. The rope is secure, as of now.

Quetzalcoatl kneels and tries to gage the depth of the river, and determine whether or not the body can be retrieved. Perception: 18

You would be able to retrieve the body if you leaned down about half-way through the river. What do you do?
