"I can try but it seems rather foolish. I am in good standing with the princess at the moment so that could perhaps help us but I cannot guarantee that she would help." Mateu says as he turns his attention to Dox and his fight.
Dox: (No, inspiration wont help regardless of auto fail. (AC16) At my home games I use a fumble rule on nat 1 where you have disadvantage for the next attack but that hasn't been mentioned so it's not in effect here)
You step in and launch into your attack thinking you've got a good bead on him but he uncanny dodges and gets a glancing blow for 7 dmg and evades the second swing.
In his off hand he lunges at you with his rapier: Attack: 24 Damage: 3
His dagger flashes out at you quickly behind the rapier thrust: Attack: 17 Damage: 9
If the dagger hits do a DC13 Con save.
Using his cunning action he disengages and even though it looks like he's walking he moves incredibly fast and takes half cover behind the barrel at D40
[Ringo doesn't want to talk to Sir Morgan, but would like to be able to identify him. When he found out that he was a lord somewhere did he also find out what his class was?]
[I know you're doing the battle right now, but in addition to my other question, is spellcasting allowed in arena except for healing. I thought it was just melee but wanted to check.]

Ringo: You can definitely get a look at him. He looks pretty much like a stereotypical knight. Plate mail, sword and shield. Looks pretty fancy. Looks like a fighter to you. Spellcastign is allowed. Healing is really the only thing not allowed.
Dox: Sorry, not trying to be difficult but there's things in the arena nobody knows about yet and I need to know what path you're taking. You can get to him but you'd have to dash. Can you attack on a bonus action?
I don't think I have that ability. I mean hypothetically if I had 2 light weapons out, but I'm already holding sword and shield .
Once I saw the distance I assumed that roll would have to be used on my next turn.
For my path think an angled #7, trying to be as direct as possible without getting into deep sand or difficult terrain. If I hit a trap I hit a trap, but I hope I don't.
If I can use my bonus action to just knock him down that'd be better than nothing.
Yeah, gotcha. Saying you were heading north and then east trying to avoid the deep stuff was fine. That put you on a clear path. Unfortunately shove is an attack. I just looked up to see if you could use your shield as an improvised weapon for an off hand attack with dual wield. There's a bunch of debate about it but I don't think you can. So yes, we can use that roll for your next attack when it comes if you'd like to.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
The platform are 8' high. You don't have your height listed but you can reach him if your average height for a Goliath.
Using your last rolls you swing at his legs and again he moves in an uncanny way and your sword deosn't bite as deep as expected. He takes 7 dmg
You can hear cheers when you hit him and many people shouting for him to stand and fight. For a moment he does. He drops off the platform and does hit the same 2 attacks:
Rapier Attack: 12 Damage: 13
Dagger Attack: 28 Damage: 6
Same deal if dagger hits.
He cunningly disengages and walks (incredibly fast) to behind the barrel at F29
Initiative 16
Dox is just going to step in and swing away. Attack Attack: 24 Damage: 15
Blood let. Dox uses his action surge to attack again. Attack: 17 Damage: 15 (auto fail inspiration wont help? Save it)

(AC 18) can I get up on him with normal movement?
If so I will and then attack again. Attack: 15 Damage: 15 and remembering Ringo's words Dox takes inspiration 4
(You gotta tell me where your going. There is a direct route that will take you 60' of movement speed necessary to reach him over the rough terrain.)

Straightish north then east. Trying to be direct as possible but avoid as much rough. If I don't make it this round i'll attack on the next

Good enough. So I run up and now it's his turn.
(sorry, had some chores to do here)
The Blade lashes out at you again with the rapier and dagger.
Rapier Attack: 14 Damage: 13
Dagger Attack: 11 Damage: 2
Same save needed if the dagger hits. DC13 Con save
He again uses his cunning action to disengage and runs away from you and in one motion leaps up onto the platform at G36

Both miss. I'll attack him. Not sure how high it is versus my reach, I'll climb up if needed.

Straight line walk to him and attack Attack: 25 Damage: 15
(So what's going on with your damage. Why are they all 15's.)

I don't know, balancing out a lot of 1s in other campaigns I guess.
