Most intriguing Fawn finds a dirty piece of parchment. As she picks it up she sees a face. Looking at the picture they seem strangely familiar. She continues to read and in common the parchment reads "Head of this one. 25 Gold Pieces". At the bottom of the parchment it is slightly heavier. Fawn sees that this is a wax stamp at the bottom. It's a little worn but Fawn is able to determine that it is a black spider. Then it hits Fawn. This is a drawing of Conway for a bounty that must have been put out for the Black Spider! You are being hunted.
“That’s a great idea, I feel like we said this in another conversation though Conway” Fawn holds up the 2 javelin “ok I’m carrying full capacity now. Let’s head to town and get this stuff turned in and get supplies if needed before heading to the WEC”
Occ: only have 4 lbs I can carry until I’m encumbered
Halben says "Let us take a long rest here and then tomorrow let us search for the goblins Cragmaw goblins around the Triboar trail. Sildar said they would have information that will lead us to Cragmaw castle where we can save the Gundren. I will take first watch."
The group decides to bed down for the night. Ensuring they have their full strength for the danger of the Triboar Trail. Every now and then, the night becomes colder and in the distance you hear what sounds like wailing and crying. You determine this to be Agatha and almost feel sorry for her. Even though you are close to the Banshee you do not feel threatened by her. The night's watch proves uneventful. You are thankful for this as you are loaded down and do not particularly feel like fighting. You have all completed a long rest.
The next morning comes and Fawn searches for tracks for goblins. She does not locate any. You start making your journey back to Phandalin along the Triboar Trail. Known for it's treachery you keep a close eye out and Fawn continues to search for tracks. The sun beats down on your and saps some of your energy.
About midday you notice what looks like wagons have turned onto the Triboar headed to Phandalin. Based on your estimate it is a two horse wagon. You continue to follow it as the Triboar is the only path. The insects of the night come out once more and night falls. You take your normal watches and the night passes peacefully.
You awaken the next morning and Fawn once again surveys for tracks but does not find any. It is slightly foggy but not enough to impede your vision. You continue on along the Triboar following those Wagon tracks. Suddenly, Fawn picks up some tracks. Goblins. Many Goblins. They seem to be going along the wood line and following the Wagon.
You continue on and the Goblins continue to follow the Wagon. It is afternoon. In the distance along the trail you hear what sounds to be shouting.
Cypress listens intently and along with the shouting he begins to hear clanging a metal. A battle has broken out. There are shrieks and screams which you do not understand but based on prior experience you believe to be Goblin.
"Sounds like a party. Let's go kill some goblins, but try to leave one alive for us to interrogate at the end." Halben says as he charges towards the noises
The group charges toward the noise. As you crest the hill you see what the commotion was all about. More goblins than you have ever seen are swarming around an overturned horse and cart. You can visibly see 16 goblins who are armed with a variety of scimitars and shortbows. In the back you see a large Bugbear with a jeweled eyepatch who appears to be barking out orders to the goblins(RED). He even seems to kick and slap at them as they charge by him.
The targets of the raid are around the cart. There appears to be 6 soldiers (GREEN)wearing chainmail and wielding longswords trying to form a defensive posture on the backside of the cart. Inbetween the wheels there appears to be a fat merchant(YELLOW) cowering as he is clearly no fighter. There already lay 3 soldiers on the ground riddled with arrows who are not moving.
"HOLD THE LINE!" You hear one of the soldiers cry out!
A total of 8 arrows are loosed! 4 of them hit the cart making the sound of shattering glass! 2 strike true! One arrow digs deep into a soldiers leg he screams out in pain but maintains his stance! Another sticks into the back of soldier he winces and is hurt but his armor took most of the blow. All soldiers remain standing after the arrow volley.
The goblins who then charged up make their attacks! They have a lot more success then the arrows did! The soldiers are able to deflect some of the blows but while trying to dodge the arrows they are overwhelmed. The soldier who took an arrow to the thigh is slashed across the chest. He is critically hurt but still standing. Another takes a scimitar directly through the stomach with a critical hit. He is close to going down as well. Luckily he blocks he second attack out of pure adrenaline!
Another soldier is not so luck as he is double teamed as three goblins set upon him! He is able to hold off one but the other two jump on him. One slices his throat while the other stabs him repeatedly in the chest. They then move up looking for their next victim 1 Solider is down! 5 remain and it is now their turn for a counterattack!
