Ivolyn's spell zaps back to her hands, the crackling energy sparking once or twice between her fingers as her hands drop limply by her side. The sight of Umbutu's head rolling on the ground, released from the grasped of the now fallen women, grabs her full concentration. The world slows for Ivolyn as the head comes to rest, akimbo on the packed earth of the road. A hot stone of grief lodges in her throat and she blinks tears that fill her eyes. Unhearing, but for the loud roar of her own beating heart, the women is lost for a moment until the odor of noxious gas wafts from Grimbeard's direction. Turning as if in a dream, she sees the two goblins. Channeling her grief, Ivolyn mutters a simple spell and a bright, pale blue light streaks from her shaking hand to the goblin leader.
Numbly, Ivolyn lifts her shoulder pack over her head and unstraps the coiled rope she found in the goblin cave. Dragging her pack behind her, she finds her way to Alberich and hands the rope to him. She takes one look at the covered form of Umbutu and, hearing the restlessness of Indovu, approaches the large animal. "Oh my dear,"she says with tears marking trails down her cheeks. She extends her arm towards to animal, judging how well it will accept her approach.

Watching his goblin foe escape once more, Grimbeard yells out in rage and frustration. Soon enough he joins his companions only to find out Umbutu has fallen. Grimbeard kneels next to Umbutu body and says a few words under his breath, too quiet for anyone else to hear. Grimbeard then gets back to his feet and etches a dwarven symbol into the dirt with his staff. "He was a fierce warrior and a true friend to all."
The seemingly glowing scimitar grabs his attention. Grimbeard searches his memory for an explanation of why this could be.
