Chuul WIS save vs DC 13: 2 Maybe it is the influence of the mind flayer amulet, but Hildigrim is mentally overpowering all these servants. Since it is incapacitated, Hildigrim pushes open the slack claw to remove the grapple.
Quillary was pulled into the cavern and knocked prone. Jorin feels a mental pressure to attack Quillary while she is off balance, but that just makes him angrier at the aboleth (with that save roll).

Quillary, lying face down on the water, spies the aboleth, and her eyes narrow. She stands up, on the water, and taps her cat skull, speaking some words and moving her hands, and a shaft of moonlight pierces the water, it's light splitting and sliding as it passes from the air.
Move: half move to stand up, then anything she ma need to get a clear shot at the aboleth. Action: Cast Moonbeam with a 2nd level slot only. Con Save vs DC 15 or 10 radiant damage, half on a save. Reaction: Con Save vs DC 15 or halo of spores damage for 3 necrotic damage

(OOC: I read up more since last time, and other than gaining fire resistance, spells are pretty much unaffected underwater. This bugs me on a logical level that lightning bolts and freeze rays aren't attenuated or scattered by the water, but it boils down to this argument: "it's magic".)
CON save vs DC 15: 17 (save, takes 5 radiant)
Drusk doesn't know what is going on with the underwater light show. He sees Hildigrim incapacitate the chuul, and runs up swinging Joybringer2. He also moves the Spiritual Weapon up above the water.
mace Attack: 12 Damage: 8 (miss)
magic smiley face ball Attack: 23 Damage: 8 (miss)
Jorin is still to act. (Then chuul and aboleth go. The aboleth is 20' away from Jorin, so even with half speed, he could swim over. Or use 20' movement to get to standing on the surface, and do something else.)

Jorin is extra furious over trying to be mind controlled, yet again, and shouts some particularly spicy Bodt curses that are obscured by the water he is in. He darts towards the aboleth attack with reckless abandon.
Movement: 40 ft worth of movement to get into melee with the aboleth
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
All 3 of Jorin's attacks hit (for 48 damage), despite being underwater.
In response, the aboleth uses a lengendary action to strike at Jorin with its tail (with advantage)
tail Attack: 21 Damage: 14 (hit)
On its turn, it makes 3 tentacle attacks on Jorin (with advantage)
Attack1: 29 Damage: 15 (hit)
Attack2: 25 Damage: 8 (hit)
Attack3: 24 Damage: 10 (hit)
Jorin takes 31 damage from those 4 attacks, after rage reduction. In addition, Jorin needs to roll a few CON saves vs. DC 14 disease (see next post). The aboleth swims out of the moonbeam, but it only moves 5' away (stays in melee range of Jorin).
The chuul is confused, hearing commands from Hildigrim's spell and the aboleth. At the end of its turn, it take 7 psychic damage. WIS save vs. DC 13: 13 (fail, still incapacitated)
Pascal moves from the passageway just into the cavern, to keep his distance but have line-of-sight. He launches a fire bolt at the chuul. "If Hildi gives me some targeting help, I'll use a higher level chromatic orb next turn."

At the start of a new round, the aboleth's rage surges like lighting through the water around it (lair action). Everyone rolls a WIS save vs. DC 14 . On a fail, take 7 psychic damage. (If Hildi or Quillary fail, do a concentration check for your spell vs DC 10.)
Jorin needs to roll 4 CON saves vs. DC 14, all for disease. The 1st is when he attacked. A thick mucus perspires from the aboleth, and being in melee range stings his skin. The 2nd through 4th checks are for the tentacle hits. If he fails any of them, the effect does not stack. (None of these should affect Jorin's next action directly, but if I'll post what happens after seeing the rolls.)
Hildigrim, Jorin, and Quillary still have Bless for these rolls, but the spell ends before their turn starts (concentration check failed).
Both the aboleth and the chuul are lightly damaged. The chuul is incapacitated (assuming that Hildigrim is still concentrating on the spell). Drusk and Pascal don't see the aboleth yet, as they are concentrating on the chuul at the surface.
Hildigrim, Jorin, Quillary, and Drusk are up. (saves for lair action) Drusk: 8 Pascal: 20 (Drusk takes 7 psychic.) Drusk concentration check for Bless: 8

OOC - oh man, eeking it out on those Wisdom saves thanks to bless. GuiltySparc is going to pause a moment to see what the others do before putting Jorin's actions in...there will definitely be two attacks from battle axes, but i'm contemplating using my bonus action to second wind rather than make a 3rd attack.
While Jorin feels a bit unclean from the slimy water around the aboleth, he shrugs off any ill effects.
(OOC: For Drusk this round, would you prefer a bit of healing word, or to have Bless renewed? Since I am DMing, I'm happy to take suggestions for my character.)

I think bless is a good idea as well. And keep those low rolls for saving vs. my spell coming! :)
Hildigrim squints his eyes and unconsciously grabs hold of the amulet around his neck as feels the psychic attack reverberating around the cave. He didn't get a good look at the eel-like creature attacking Jorin, but he thinks he knows what it is now! The rogue moves 10 feet away from the frozen chuul and fires an arrow at the eel. Then, he points. "Pascal! Jorin's in trouble! Hit it there!"
Hildigrim is able to keep his concentration, but the psychic jolt threw off his bow shot.
CON save vs Quillary's Moonbeam: 13 (fails, takes 13 radiant)
After Quillary's turn, the aboleth uses a legendary action to make another tail attack on Jorin (with advantage due to Jorin being reckless). Attack: 27 Damage: 21 (hits, nasty rolls; 10 damage after rage reduction)

Second Attack: 21 Damage: 12

Also, +5 radiant damage to the first attack that hits.

Drusk will cast Bless at 3rd level, so all party members are affected. The bonus action is used to move the Spiritual Weapon next to the aboleth and attack.
Attack: 18 Damage: 11 (hits)
The chuul takes 9 psychic, and tries to break Hildigrim's spell. WIS save: 11 (saves, at last)
After both of Jorin's attacks hit (he didn't have Bless yet), the aboleth uses a Legendary Action to strike with its tail. (It happened earlier, but resolving it now.) On its turn, it strikes with its tentacles 3 times.
tail Attack: 10 Damage: 16 (hits, 15 after rage reduction)
Attack1: 17 Damage: 15 (hits, 4 damage)
Attack2: 29 Damage: 15 (hits, 6 damage)
Attack3: 17 Damage: 10 (hits, 3 damage)
The aboleth swims to the SW. (Jorin gets an attack of opportunity.) It dives down another 10' (is 20' deep), and 30' to the SW wall. It enters an underwater passage (which you notice for the first time), with only its head poking out. It has 3/4 cover (+5 AC and DEX saves).
Pascal is frustrated by the aboleth diving deeper and taking cover, but with Hildigrim urging him on, he casts a lightning Chromatic Orb at 3rd level. (Advantage, Bless for + 1, aboleth has effective AC 22)

If you fail, you see a darkmantle (like a Small sized octopus / bat-winged umbrella) swoop down on your head, trying to smother you. If you fail, you can use your Action to try another INT save to end the spell effect. Otherwise, you are blinded and feel like the creature is wrapped around your head. If you pass, you have a mild headache, and you wonder why some of the others are spastically clawing at the air next to their faces.
Jorin has to roll 4 more CON saves vs. DC 14. (1st is when he attacked and swam into the mucus cloud; other 3 are from the tentacle attacks). Jorin also has an AoO from last round.
The aboleth is hurting, 40' away from Jorin, at least 50' away from everyone else. (It is 20' deep in an underwater passageway in the SW corner of the cave. It has 3/4 cover.)
