Solaris also interested listens intently attempting to get a feel for the veracity of the story as well as any person in the room that may be supportive of Rebrands perception13
Adolmain speaks”Thank you for your warm welcome! You have a great place here and apparently no love for the Rebrands. We are looking for accommodations for the night and some drink and food. I am curious I have met plenty of townspeople so far and have yet to meet anyone who likes the Rebrands and yet they roam so freely through town terrorizing the local population. Your Mayor who we also met seems to be quite accomadating to them and their ways maybe you could tell us how and when this scourge befell this town?” persuasion16
The inn keeper responds, ""The Redbrands are everywhere. The imbecile mayor is their biggest apologist, but he's probably just in their pockets. The mayor isn't malicious is my guess, he's just stupid. He means well at times, and I hear he's willing to pay some sellswords to deal with an Orc problem we've been having…."
Before Toblem could finish his rant, a child halfling approaches you, excited.
"You're the heroes that killed the Redbrands in the streets! Woo hoo!" the child says, pumping his arms in celebration. "I hate them! I was just playing in the woods and found a tunnel. These big ugly bandits came out of the tunnel when I was there. Because I'm a future assassin, they didn't see me!" the child says, his halfling mother nearby rolling her eyes.
"It's true mother! I bet they have a secret lair there! If I was older I'd go in there and take them out! Yes I would! I can take you there heroes! Let's kill some Redbrands!"
The inn keeper rolls his eyes as well, clearly thinking the child's imagination got the better of him. Solaris thinks differently — the kid appears to be telling the truth.
Adolmain responds “It sounds like you are truly a great assassin in the making perhaps later you can show us this cave entrance! And thank you for the information here is the money for my food and lodging I look forward to the accommodations and the food.”

Autzen never was much for sleeping... as Sir Nas of York once rightly said, 'sleep is the cousin of death'.
After ordering a second gallon of ale (2sp), a plate of cheese (1sp), and sliced meat (3sp), Autzen calls the boy back over. He'll concede to his exhausting soon enough, but for now, what Autzen needs is music and drink.
"Boy, sing us a song of this town and it's heroes, or find someone who will, young assassin"
Now scanning the room, Autzen looks for a patron who might share any additional lore over a pint.

You are welcomed warmly by the townsfolk in the Inn. With a few ales and song, the community has warned up to the non-humans.
Autzen surveys the room and locks eye with fair skinned women with black hair. She was once very pretty, but now shows the wear and tear of living in Neverwinter. She returns the glance and walks over to Autzen.
"Hello Tieflin, I couldn't help but hear of your disdain for the Redbrands. My name is Halia Thornton, and I to share no lover for the thugs." she says. The woman continues, "I operate the Miners Exchange in town, and one thing I've learned in my years is that war and anarchy is bad for business. The Redbrands are bad for business. Your men look like you can help my business….."
"On good authority, the Redbrands are holed up in Tresendar Manor, and I suspect this little assassin has found an entrance. I'm an able fighter, but I have to tend to the Miners Exchange. I will pay your group 100 GP to deal with the Redbrands. Give me the head of the Redbrand leader, whom the outlaws call Glasstaff, and bring me any correspondence found in the leader’s quarters. Do this for me and I'll pay, and be forever in your debt. I hear they are in cahoots with the goblins raiders that are stealing my caravan goods. Kill them all is I say."
The young boy looks at the women and nods approvingly at Autzen. "Take me with you!" he says before his mother wisks him away, telling him to quit talking to strangers.
A young women near the fire overhears Autzen's request for a song as she sits by the fire, looking at the flames. She doesn't turn to the party, as her daze eyes the flame, dancing to a somber song she sings:
Built in ancient times And now the warlords weight my fate With an aura of life ever dying This forsaken realm somber shade And all the blood frozen to ice The many thousand I killed
Courage, hate, pain and tears The battlefield of kings Autumn so long ago The winter spread's its wings Madness, death and terror facing me As my warriors fair to their knees When the cards of life were dealt My heart - an empty shape
Here inside the walls of winter
Warlords way my fate Forevermore the darkness reigns Over a place of eternal death And running blood
Kill - Neverwinter nights Kill - Warriors standing tall Kill - When the hammer falls Kill - Brave warriors sacrifice their own
This will be a rotten place, never rotted A dying place, never dead Hell rides across the frozen plane Covering all in death And your wish of Neverwinter Nights Is buried in the graves Of your warriors With eternal wrath
An eerie quiet takes over the inn as she finished her song. Night falls on Phandalin, and the windows to the inn grow dark.

Rastin opens his eyes after closing them to enjoy the young woman's haunting song. Then he turns to Autzen, "My friend, thank you for an enjoyable evening. You encouraged song and drink, both of which were greatly needed after the past few days. Now what is needed is a bit of rest. I'm not one to turn in early when good company remains, but I feel exhaustion setting in and I wanted to be well rested for what tomorrow holds. I anticipate we will need our strength and our wits.
I'm hoping Sildar is not quite ready to head out to Cragmaw because I'd like to endear ourselves to the locals a bit more by clearing out these Redbrands. While I don't necessarily hold them all accountable for the crass words and deeds of the ones we encountered, and dispatched, on the way into town, I suspect they are likely all of the same ilk. Thus, they have no honor and they should be dealt with accordingly so that the good people of this town can live in relative peace. I'm particularly interested in Thel Dendrar's family, if they are still alive. Good night, Autzen."
Rastin pauses to allow Autzen, a moment to respond, in case he has something to say, before he heads up to bed. On his way out of the room, Rastin thanks the woman for sharing the song and offers her a silver piece because he enjoyed it so much.
Halia Thornton says while your group goes to bed for the night, "Visit me at the Miners Exchange if you want to discuss my proposal. I pay in gold, and there could be other benefits to working with me adventurers….."
She finishes a large ale with a equally large gulp and heads outside into the night.

Your party awakens to a clear and sunny day, though on the horizon clouds approach Phandalin, intent on disturbing the sunshine beating down on the town at the early hour. You head downstairs to a common area in the inn, and you see Sildar waiting for you. He's clean shaven and fully equipped. He also has a somber look on his face.
"Hello heroes" he says, "I hope you found the lodging to your liking. Word on the street you dispensed with some Redbrands in town. Well done, though I'm afraid to say more Redbrand blood may need to be spilled."
"Nobody in town seems to know how to locate Cragmaw castle. My dear friend, Iarno Albrek, a fellow member of the Lords’ Alliance, disappeared while exploring the area around Tresendar Manor about two months ago, shortly after arriving in Phandalin. I suspect he would know, but we need to locate him. I suggest you investigate the manor and the surrounding area to find and bring back Iarno — or what’s left of him, if something killed him." Sildar goes on to describes Iarno as “a short, dark-bearded human wizard in his thirties.”
"Once you determine where the Cragmaw hideout is, I'll pay you 500 GP to clear the castle, rescue Gundren and dispense with the threats within for good. Unfortunately I must stay here, as I have important business to attend to on behalf of the Lords Alliance. I'm headed to the Town Hall to talk to the idiot mayor in town, and I'm afraid it will take me some time to get through to him about the Redbrand threat. In the meantime, if you could let me know your findings about the manor, I and the Lords Alliance would very much appreciate it. I will be staying at this Inn for the foreseeable future, so simply come back here if you find Iarno or anything else of interest."
"Sounds like a plan" he says, eager to get going to attend to business.
(Everyone has had a long rest. It is early morning. Simply let me know where you are headed and I will fast track you. You have a number of important NPCs you have run into. Govern yourself accordingly….)

(OOC: Moving ya'll to the tunnel entrance based on text message exchange)
Each of you feel refreshed after sleeping off a day that saw you end the lives of four Rebrands. You realize that by spilling blood, the Redbrands may be after you. Recognizing that many of the local populace pointed you towards Tresdendar Manor as a source of the Redbrands, you decide to track down the boy who appeared to have found a secret tunnel of some sort nearby. You find him, and he identifies the entrance and points to where you must go on your map. You make haste to the area (not before visiting the Miners Exchange and agreeing to find the Redbrands leader for the Miners Exchange proprietor).
Tresendar Manor stands at the east edge of town on a low hillside amid woods and thickets. The ancient manor appears to be abandoned. The boy wasn't fantasizing about the tunnel, as you find a tunnel near Tresendar Manor hidden by some brush. The tunnel is approximately 8 feet high and 5 feed wide, so you must be in single file formation to enter. You find human tracks into the tunnel.
(OOC: Ok, need initiative rolls and your order. Please post or text me. It is now early afternoon as you had to visit Miners Exchange and find the boy with the tunnel location)
