Kylara takes her share from Soron and says, If this entrance is on top of a hill, could we not gather there for a short rest? It should also give us an advantage on seeing anyone coming to us as we would be behind were enemies are looking and also we (referring to anyone that can make a ranged attack) can launch a surprise attack on anyone that comes out of there. This will allow the injured to heal a bit.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
The party takes a short rest.
Kylara, you choose to forage instead, and therefore gain no benefit from a short rest. The thickets outside the cave are meagre, but there are some trees nearby; you manage to find the equivalent of 3 rations. However, you know from your training that foraging is more successful when travelling, as you have a wider area to find the best food sources in.
Steinarr, you see the area is a small, dank cave that smells horribly of wet dog. You can see where the three wolves were chained up, and at the far end, you see a hole in the ground too big for any of the party to go down. There's nothing useful or valuable in the area.
Anyone who wishes to do so can spend a hit die to recover HP, as Demetrio does.
You are not interrupted during your rest, and it comes to an end. The wolf cave is a dead end; the tunnel continues ahead.
If you're ever not sure what to roll, please roll one d20 with the skill you think is most likely, and leave it to me. If I decide a different skill is correct, I will lift the d20 from your role and apply the correct skill and proficiency modifiers to it. Foraging is Survival so I used the 15 from Kylara's first roll. It's a pretty good result, but foraging during a short rest isn't really viable except in a very food-rich environment, which the area immediately around this cave is not.
After the short rest we continue ahead in the same order we entered the cave (if everyone is ok with it)
Soron (casts Light) takes out his dagger , holds it in his left , he touches one side of the blade (the flat part not the edge) and runs his fingers along it (again the flat part) and as he does that the blade starts shining and he uses it as a torch (he does that after the decide to go deeper into the cave)
X, without a shovel it takes time to break the ground with your hammer and hands, but you are able to make a shallow grave behind one of the thicket outside the cave.
The party continues on, taking the path on the right hand of the tunnel while the small stream flows down the left. Steinarr, as you are leading, you see up ahead that the ceiling of the tunnel is much higher here, and there is a bridge that crosses above you, perhaps twenty feet above the floor you are standing on.
The light from Soron's dagger is keeping the tunnel well illuminated for the moment, though the shadows dance as he moves. Outside the radius of the light spell, the light from the cave mouth has now faded to nothing; those of you without darkvision will now rely on the light spell or any other form of illumination you provide.
The first two in order (Steinarr and X), please make a Perception check.
Steinarr, you notice nothing, but X, you see a figure standing on the rickety wooden bridge that crosses above you. It seems to be a goblin, and it stands still in the middle of the bridge for a few seconds, observing the party, then begins to move off to the side. It's about thirty feet from you, up and to the front.
Edit: Just to be clear, only X sees the goblin at the moment.
I do a halt fist signal to the ones behind me and stop moving. In a hushed tone that only the group can hear and without looking at the goblin, I then say
There is one on a bridge 30 ft in front of us......It sees us. It has moved since seeing us. The best chance we have is if we all back up because it may think we have left and one of us quickly moves back out to launch something at it very quickly. Do NOT miss.

Warforged Fighter Talien
Demetrio Uses his reflective piece of steel to peak around the corner.
Demetrio also responds to kylara
I can set Up a warning signal by the cave entrance with my rope and bell if you would like to take a short rest.
I can stand watch while people patch themselves up. I don’t think that will be the last of the goblins we encounter.
Demetrio, you look round the corner in a reflection. It’s really hard to make out any detail, but you don’t see any sign of movement.
Ooc Do we have enough time to take a short rest?
While people take a short rest Steinarr would like to check the room the wolves were kept in that is currently illuminated by Sorons light pebble.
Perception. 17
While the short rest is occurring, Kylara splits the loot from the first goblins, and then forages for any herbs for healing/food, quietly of course.
Rolls as follows
Medicine: 19
Nature: 8
Survival: 10
Stealth: 20
(not sure what one you need)
Warforged Fighter Talien
While the group is Taking a short rest demetrio tends his wounds

after the short rest but before we continue through the cave, i bury the body of the goblin who hit me
The wolf cave is a dead end. There looks to be a small crevice at the back but it’s too small for any of us. Let’s continue down following the stream.
Steinarr nods to Soron in approval as he makes a light source

Steinarr glances around his orcish heritage giving him better vision in the gloom.

Unless X says anything Steinarr will continue forward

I put away my warhammer and pull out a javelin
