"So close?" says Tyrus in surprise. "We've been trudging through this muck for almost an hour... Still, what ye be saying is intriguing, and this creature does bear a likeness to them yellow symbols on the walls."
Realising that the duration of Arlon's spell is pressing, Tyrus will leave his hooded lantern on the ground so the others can see and then move away from the creature and pick up his crossbow from where he left it.
"Well, Griffdar, Briga? What's it to be?" he asks while he secures his crossbow to his backpack.

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
OOC: Assuming we can safely close to surround the thing and beat it down with simultaneous attacks, based on the prior descriptions.

Briga closes to the sleeping creature as well, making a sneering face but only saying "gross" quietly, trying to stay stealthy. She slashes at it with the glaive and then spins to try to catch it with the backend of her polearm, the combination of attacks she favors in honest battle, as well as against sleeping foes.
OOC: The first hit would wake it, but I left advantage on the second attack assuming it would still be prone, granting advantage, regardless of whether the first one woke it or not. Should be 8 slashing and 6 bludgeoning, with a silvered weapon.
OOC: Whoops, didn't see the first was a crit, extra 1 slashing
OOC: Also assuming the lantern was providing light so the attacks were not made with disadvantage cancelling out the advantage. Sorry, playing catch up from the weekend, per the usual.
[OOC: As I mentioned, the creature was still floating - it's immune to prone. Secondly, even without advantage, I'll take the first which was the higher one anyway - they both hit]
Briga cuts the gazer through its central eye, getting covered in a purplish substance you think might be blood from the creature that bursts like a balloon.
Continuing down the corridor, with no side paths to stay dry, you start wading water and sewage that is one foot deep. The guarded corridor has another one of the markings you have been following, and five minutes later you arrive at a circular chamber, about 15 foot wide, with a 5-foot wide pillar in the middle. You approach in from the East, heading west as you approach this. The corridor splits around the central pillar to the north and the south. You can also see in the North East Wall is a narrow arrow slit.
You also see a stone door set into the back wall of a stone ledge to the west, at the beginning of the southern passage.
Briga quietly confers with her allies. "OK guys, which way? They've had one scout, if there's someone manning that arrow slit we could be walking into a line of fire there, or get an alarm pulled or something."
18 - Perception, for any traps or secret doors/passages other than what was described above.
OOC: Also any ambushes, if it didn't go without saying.
[OOC: DM, from your description, I'm seeing the 'chamber' you're describing as being basically doughnut-shaped? Is that right? Also, I have no idea if the door goes off from the circular chamber or actually blocks the southern passage. I've also been imagining the sewers to be about five feet wide and that we've been having to travel in single file. Is that right? A map would be nice.]
Tyrus, who is having trouble seeing from the back of the party in these narrow passages, says, "Briga, did you say arrow slit? Find out if it's a trap. I'd be poking that thing with that big pig sticker of yours to make sure it's safe before wandering into the line of fire."
[OOC: That would be accurate yes, the door doesn't block off the southern passage, there is a ledge on the western side which leads to a door in the western wall, the passage continues south past the door]
Briga doesn't notice any secret doors, but having a look through one of the arrow slits, you can see a goblin sitting up against a wall nearby snoring quietly.
Tyrus doesn't know what Arlon is talking about, but is aware that danger is near. He will therefore keep an eye out back the way they have come in case something is coming up from behind them [Perception Roll: 23 ].

[OOC: the goblin is on the other side of the arrow slit, about 10 feet away, sitting on a chair, sleeping]
Briga whispers to the others, "There's a guard in there, behind the slit, a goblin. Totally asleep. “If we time it right with your crossbow and my javelin. Surely he will fall right away.”
Gash - Lvl14 Goblin Wizard - The High Court of the Aasimar Queen
OOC: Is it an option to toss a javelin through the slit? If so, I'd probably do that as well instead, I didn't know if the slit would allow for that.
[You can certainly try - I will warn you though that this will be at disadvantage, with the chance of getting the javelin stuck if you miss]
(Ooc oh I figured I’ll never get this javelin back. Would that make it a straight roll then since he’s asleep?)
Gash - Lvl14 Goblin Wizard - The High Court of the Aasimar Queen
Briga, seeing the slit is narrow, elects to fire her crossbow rather than trying to angle in for a javelin toss.
19 - Attack roll for heavy crossbow
10 - Piercing damage, if a hit
It was a crit, additional 1 piercing for 12 total.
